343 don't make this mistake! Let us explore.

You know what’s really bad, invisible wars, death barriers and anything else preventing players from escaping a map. In Halo:CE in some cases you could just walk out of a map with a few tricks and “glitches”, In Halo 2 you could drive a tank accross Delta Halo, and even in Halo 3 you could escape several maps.

However Halo3 and REACH [mostly reach] this great exploration feature was almost killed, cut, and destroyed by the very evil of “invisible walls and kill areas”

Halo 4, 5, 6 NEEDS to get rid of these or have them as an option. Because Reach has huge maps that are literally cut short due to this pointless, stupid, and not needed feature. And as far as balance then fine in M.M [ranked] it’s fine to have these. However in COOP, or on customs/forge if there’s 10x more map to play on then there should be nothing preventing you from playing on it.

343 don’t turn Halo into Gears of Duty. Don’t bottle us up. Don’t make huge environment and only let us play in 10% of them. It was never a good idea. Ever. Let us explore. Let us be free

P.S-Dat feel when you drive all the way out into the water in Silent cartographer…Don’t kill that feel please as it has before.

I agree. Those bugs/missteps with the maps and missions really increased the replay value of the said maps and missions.

Those stupid soft kill bounds really were a buzz kill to the already (in my opinion) poorly-designed campaign missions and Firefight missions. I would really appreciate if Halo 4 doesn’t follow through with reusing timed kill barriers.

People can go to the train station used in a cutscene in Reach. You know, that tram super speed thing which u take to goto halsey’s base thing.

Well a few places are but they take too much to get.

Like in firefight you can literally jump on a box and get a death barrier, WTF, Why!?

> People can go to the train station used in a cutscene in Reach. You know, that tram super speed thing which u take to goto halsey’s base thing.

Well unless you wanted your spartan dying 10 seconds into the cut-scene, I think it would have to stay like that.

I miss walking on top of Cairo Station, finding the Energy Sword in the rooftops of Outskirts, flying the Banshee up to get the Scarab Gun in Metropolis, flying around and exploring the facility in The Arbiter/Oracle, driving a Ghost all around the hills and under the lake in Delta Halo, doing the same without the Ghost in Regret, finding all the secret passages on Sacred Icon, exploring the snowy wastes and walking all around the vast Library on Quarantine Zone, jumping all over Gravemind, climbing mountains on Uprising, laughing at the Flood from the top of the spires in High Charity, and walking into the ocean, climbing all over the Control Room, and splattering Tartarus with a Banshee on The Great Journey.

I know that feel man, I know that feel [gives a hug]

Sorry, but with the current console hardware, your free roam Halo is not possible unless it’s an ODST. It’s unrealistic too because it would take ages to make a game that allows free roaming because of the physics engine and A.I that has to be coded.

I wholeheartedly agree. Being able to get out of a campaign level is sadisfying in itself. It’s just plain fun!

Of course I can’t speak for anyone else, but I derive immense joy simply from being able to leave the path I’m supposed to take and stroll around in parts of a level you normally never have to go. I don’t even need to find something like easter eggs, for example.

And after H2, this fun was spoiled considerably in H3 by putting up invisible barriers, and even more so in Reach. In fact, Reach is so “explorer unfriendly”, I could cry. You finally manage to jump up a series of rocks only to literally get it in the face by another invisible barrer, or that unbelievably annoying “Return to the battlefield” warning pops up. :’(

Wrong, actually. Technically speaking it takes more effort to place invisible barriers and kill zones than leave the map as it is.

That lone marine on top of the ridge on The Covenant in H3 was a unexpected surprise lol

But I agree OP we should be able to explore and glitch and have awesome easter eggs.

Completely agree, I miss the days of being on top of a tower in Halo 1, or on top of some random building with an all powerful gun in Halo 2.

Those kill barriers were terrible, I would far prefer invisible walls.

I completely agree, the exploits in Halo1 and 2 were some of the best parts of those games. One of the many reasons those campaigns are far superior to H3 and beyond.

Agreed so many times over! Those damn kill barriers are a terrible edition to Halo. I can sort of understand their presence in multiplayer and Firefight (although some are bloody stupid), but putting them in campaign was a mistake.

kill barriers/invisible barriers a good idea in campaign? No really. In MM and FF? I think they are necessary (but not always to the extent that they are).

Getting out of maps is something I don’t do too much anymore but I still do it every now and then for the fun of it. Like getting to the Falcon flight part on Tip of the Spear. But being on the ground (though there aren’t enemies and I don’t think you can continue after but oh well…) You can still blow up those building things which is fun, but now I’m just rambling on…

Anyways the point is no in campaign and yes in MM and FF (though FFR, please limit the amount)

Ω

I just wish I could remove the soft kill zones in forge. There are some sweet sniping spots that you just can’t stay in. Sure that works for online and most games anyway, but I would have liked to find out for myself why letting people stay in these areas is such a bad idea.

How… Got any video clips?

getting out of reach maps is possible, you just have to do it in a different way now. It’s alot of fun.
