For a long time I’ve seen lots of people here complain, boast, whatever, about 343 catering to the competitive community of Halo, when in fact, they don’t… at all. 343 actually caters to the twitch community. Had they actually catered to the competitive community, Halo wouldn’t play like it does today and would still properly emulate how Halo advanced with Halo 2 from CE and with Halo 3 from Halo 2 (and even Reach in some cases) as classic Halo actually had a much more popular competitive scene and was sponsored by MLG back then.
The fact is competitive Halo is dead and 343 has been trying to make “twitch Halo” a thing, and it’s not working. The numbers show it. Statistics don’t lie. Isn’t Halo 5 the worst-selling mainline Halo as well? Had 343 actually made Halo 5 with the competitive community in mind, the casual community would also be flourishing as it did during the Halo 3 days.
343 needs to go back to the drawing board and stop twitch Halo. Remove these “Spartan Abilities” masquerading as armor abilities being FFA would be the start. Just take a look at how the meta during classic Halo was. A simple YouTube search of a Halo 2 MLG match will show you how fast-paced gameplay was, how skillful it was, and it didn’t need all these gimmicks to make it fast-paced or atrocious map design in order to accomdate for said gimmicks. Gameplay wasn’t random either and all over the place since it had none of these gimmicks (and no, Equipment doesn’t count).
It was born, everyone loved it, it grew and got more friends, as an adult it went for the world, but like everthing it got older and lost more and more friends, older and older to the point of being nothing more than a shade of its shiny self.
Little ones show up admiring the storys it can tell, the old one stay as good old friends, theres nothing we can do to keep it going, instead we should give it a good end
Of course they do. Sorry everyone was wrong.
I don’t think it’s any of those 3, I think they cater to the Skyrim community. This game is very much their department. Yes, that’s definitely it.
I don’t even know where Twitch comes into this? They did some streams of the new update? Is that it? What are you even talking about lol. Why is Halo 5 a ‘Twitch’ game? Is it on the case? Lemme check…
Edit: Below me is true, you haven’t even played it yet. Bait thread. Mods?
Why do people hang around here just to moan? OP hasn’t even played 5. Move on with your life if you don’t like the direction they are taking it. I for one love it.

How in the world does Halo cater to the RPG community? Classic Halo did more to cater to the RPG community than 343’s Halo ever has since it actually had sandbox elements to it.
And I’m not talking about twitch as in Twitch.tv the streaming service; I’m referring to twitch gameplay, like CoD, where there’s reliance on a player’s reaction time.

I’ve just spotted this too, how can OP comment on a topic as such without playing the game?!

Lol, we’ve got a moron here people! If Halo 5 didn’t cater to the competitive community, why are the most competitive members highly involved? The same ones that played the old games? Naded, Lunchbox & Roy, Snipedown, Pistola, Walshy, Ogre2, Victory X, Ninja, etc. In fact, high ranking members of the competitive Halo scene even helped mold Halo 5 into the amazing game it is. Strongside, Unyshek, Dersky, Ghostayame, etc. They helped shape Halo 5. Why would they not cater to themselves?
Competitive Halo is more alive than it’s ever been because of Halo 5. If you can’t see that, you’re blind. I’ve been playing Halo since CE, and Halo 5 is by far the best, most balanced, competitive Halo in the series. It’s not even a contest in my opinion. Halo 5 better than all the other games put together by a longshot. Multiplayer-wise at least.
Compared to Halo 5, Halo 2 is very slow paced. That’s why you losers can’t keep up, so you complain, like you’re doing now. The Spartan Abilities in Halo 5 are flawlessly implemented. They feel natural to Halo, like they should have always been there. Halo 5 has some of the best maps in the series. Coliseum, The Rig, and Truth are the best Halo maps in Halo’s history. Why don’t you go play H2A if that’s what you want. The rest of us would like Halo to evolve, not stay the same while the rest of the industry evolves.
Halo 2 was removed from Xbox Live because people didn’t play it online. It’s population was extremely low. Halo 3 is also very low. Halo 5 on the other hand has much better population levels. So if everyone wants the kind of slow paced gameplay from the pervious games, why aren’t they playing them? Why are they playing Halo 5 instead? Because Halo 5 is better, that’s why.
Halo 5 is on ESL now btw. http://www.eslgaming.com/article/get-ready-halo-championship-series-pro-league-2756
I can’t even… how can you possibly say that having not played the game? I want old Halo back too, but I actually played (the -Yoink- out of) Halo 5 before I formed that opinion.

if people have this many complaints without any reasonable alternatives or suggestions then wtf are they doing here…go play another ‘‘better’’ game if you hate Halo so much

He might just be using an alternate account but that’s still against the rules here. If OP hasn’t played the game but thinks he can get the feel off of YouTube videos, he’s sorely mistaken.
OP, if you played halo 5 you’d know that it is extremely competitive. I don’t really understand what you meant by making it cater to twitch. Yah halo’s twitch has gone up a bit but that’s because of halo 5’s competitiveness. To think that 343’s goal was to cater to twitch without even playing the game is kinda ignorant.

There’s so much rhetoric in here I don’t even know where to start. You misuse so much information it really hurts my head.
Halo 2 was taken down because MS needed to take down the old XBL servers in order to expand the 360/One XBL service. And Halo 2 had been out for 5 years by that point.
Halo 2 was forcefully shut down, with players keeping their Xboxes on in order to not get kicked from the game. It was a huge deal.
Halo 5 has better populations because it is a newer game. Comparing a year old game to games released in 2004 in 2007 is just the most moronic thing I’ve heard on here.
Competitive and Old School players want Halo to “evolve” too, we just disagree with your assertion that Halo needed to evolve in the exact same way as every other game.
You talk about the abilities and gameplay like it’s an object fact, when it’s not. Not everybody like the same kind of games.
Slow paced does not mean unable to sprint or feel like you are moving fast. Fast paced means how often you spend in combat compared to traversing the map. Halo 2 is not slow paced.

It was a joke because what you said didn’t make sense. Of course it doesn’t cater for RPG players (not to say they can’t play it, but you get me). Sarcasm.
My mistake about the ‘twitch’ part, i’ll accept that.
Still doesn’t change the fact you haven’t played the game, so I don’t see how your opinion can be considered valid, or if so, taken with a pinch of salt.

Pros play for money, not necessarily because it’s fun
Unyshek just joined 343 recently, he really coulnd’t shape much
it is unknown how much those former pros helped shaping the game, as far as I see it, they are nothing more then permanently employed game testers that have a little influence on weapon blacement and such stuff,I highly doubt that they had anything to say when it came to big decisions (rader, SA’s, Sprint, weapon balance)
