Halo infinite is going to release of the xbox one, but I think in order to get all the new content you may still need to buy the next console. If anyone remembers destiny one, it was released on the xbox 360, but eventually you couldn’t get any of the new DLCs on the xbox 360 anymore, you had to switch over to the xbox one. I’m starting to believe that 343i is trying to do the same thing, by trapping the xbox one players and making them switch over so they can get the new content.
Lmfao welllllllll OP unless you think that anemic Xbox One is going to be able to handle their content drops for the next 10 years like they claim, I’d say you’re right.
However, I don’t think the negative connotations of “trapping” are warranted. I think anyone with a developed pre-frontal cortex understands that at some point, Halo Infinite on the Xbox One will no longer be supported… Lol
I personally don’t think it should be on the One in the first place so be thankful it’s even there.

I’m curious what OP would suggest instead? To support the Xbox One the entire life of Infinite?
Personally I don’t think what Destiny did was anti-consumer or anything like that. BO3 did something similar. Now I understand that generational leap was a little different but the fact that these games even launched multi-generation is something that we should be ‘thankful’ for.

Or, imitate what was done with a different game and do what Black Ops 3 did, where a last-gen console version still exists but it’s stripped-down and multiplayer-only.
Since we know Infinite’s multiplayer will be free to play and might be somewhat separate from the rest of the game, might fit well enough to just put that on Xbox One and exclude the rest.
If multiplayer is divided into a big mode and smaller modes, like Warzone and Arena last time, perhaps only put the smaller mode on One, let the more demanding bigger mode be a PC/Series X exclusive
Should be a Series S/X exclusive only. The fact that the decision to make it supported by Xbox One worries me to be honest…it 1,000% will hinder its performance for having to be playable on the One. Anyone says otherwise, they are lying to you.
Besides greed…I really don’t understand the logic in 343i doing that…
Hopefully they’ll be able to support the Xbox one with Xcloud- that way it’s a win-win for Microsoft, upgrade to the series x/s, or pay for game pass ultimate.
Guess you could call it greed, wanting to maximize sales, but also when you consider the millions and millions of Xbox Ones out there, many of which were bought with Halo in mind, and the fact that there’s only been one new Halo fps so far this gen, releasing Infinite on Xbox One could also just be like a following through on a promise sort of thing.
Well…so the open world is gonna be like a GTA San Andreas, it open´s while the story progresses. And about the multiplayer…Destiny is more like a co-op game while Halo is like the arcade multiplayer.
I can’t imagine 343i actively developing content made to be supported on a console that released in 2013 when Halo Infinite itself is releasing 2021, especially with their 10 year plan for ongoing content. Asking for them to support Infinite for that full 10 year plan on the original Xbox One is similar to when all of those threads popped up in 2015 asking 343i to port Halo 5 to 360.
And on Bungie’s reasoning with Destiny 1’s Rise of Iron DLC, how would they have profited by making people buy the Xbox One/PS4 when Destiny is a multi-platform game and already existed on these platforms to begin with? Look at it from a technical standpoint. By the time Rise of Iron had released, the Xbox 360 was already well over 10 years old, and the PS3 was right behind it. I’m surprised that game launched on those consoles to begin with.
I doubt the game will last 10 years, if we check the history, most of the time when a company brags about a long time support plan for a videogame, the whole plan ends up scrapped before the fifth year, some of the most legendary and still popular games that managed to stay over a decade being played did not even had such plan (WoW, TF2, Minecraft, and CS:GO along with Fornite are following that path too)
It was due their innovations/good gameplay, those games won the love of millions of gamers across the world.
Even if HI somehow pulls off some miracle they may abandon last gen 3 or 2 years after release.
The game is like a ship in the ocean, moving away without destiny, is hard to speculate the final outcome.

I agree. It’s not anti consumer it is in fact unavoidable. I stated a long time ago that the day one Xbox One was weak, it’s not going to be supported with Halo Infinite for ten years, imho. I hope they drop Xbox One support and release it for next gen only.
Lets hope Phil Spencer has even a brief moment of sanity and scraps the cross-gen nonsense.
Moving to a new console isn’t any different from eventually upgrading or building a new PC. If you want to play the latest and greatest, eventually you have to upgrade, its just the nature of technology.

Even if they do it, its still a much more consumer friendly approach than any other halo release, which required you to have the latest generation console.
Now you dont have to buy the newest console upfront, you can wait years or for a good sale.

This is what I normally do. I typically get into older games and consoles after they’ve gone down in price significantly. Unfortunately, this means the player base is usually dead by the time I get to it
Kind of a weird situation at this point. The original Xbox One is almost 7 years old. By the time Halo Infinite reaches end of life 10 years out, it’ll be 17. I can’t see them supporting a 17 year old console. At some points you have to set limits. I think backwards compatibility should have been limited to Xbox One X. Even in the PC space you have minimum requirements. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and upgrade.
