343 confirms desync fixes are not currently being worked on

343 is trying very hard to make me lose because I simply won a match two matches ago. Afk is my only option, again. Shame I came back to play only to find that nothing has changed. What a terrible game.

Then their product is already lost. If they can’t nail down and make right 100% of what makes the game function, they might as well stop here and regroup.

The main thing they seem to be focused on is microtransactions…

It appears they don’t care about anything else.

I remember the days that Halo was a great game with great attention to detail, actual blood that allowed better bullet reaction from enemies, better detailed vehicle destructions, actual player collision physics, better and smother performance and more content.

This game is not even half effort. It’s 1/3rd the effort of past Halo entries.

I don’t know what’s more disappointing: the fact that they obviously aren’t able to fix it or the fact that they rather communicate it via reddit and teitter instead of their official forum.

I’m so glad that i stopped playing infinite as this $&@* is getting ridiculous at this point imagine not prioritizing the one thing that’s actively killing the game other than the F@$#Ing content drought

:expressionless: Focusing on a mode that not all players have access to. Ok.

Would be crazy if all the resources were relocated to something non-important like the shop or adding microtransactions to MCC

I suppose you have to think about time frames given by the publisher.

Coop will likely bring a lot of people back to the game. Which means more customers hanging about the shop.

Also it would be interesting to note what we think is most important. We don’t know those results. They do.

On another level they could be devoting time to Coop as they might charge us to play it… :joy:

Who is actually coming back to the game for co-op?

I’m genuinely curious. As far as I have seen there is minimal interest in campaign replay due to both lack of level select and, well, a lot of it is bland open world with no replayability (just my opinion). Do people really want to go do a bunch of copy-paste FOB encounters again?

Other than a very small segment who have now waited 8 months to play with a friend, child, etc… didn’t co-op pretty much already miss the bus?

My guess is that they can’t get co-op to work without also implementing level select. And that is why it is taking so long.

Maybe. I doubt it. 20char

I am skeptical if they would break ranks on Reddit. But if that’s true either:

  1. They know content more important so focus is absolutely on that above all else.

  2. They’ve given up trying to fix desync after having spent huge resources trying to fix it. So better using time elsewhere.

  3. They’re short staffed because 343 assumed that it wouldn’t take a colossal dev team to put out two maps every three months, a weapon and some armour coatings. However launch stuff like Co-op and I suspect Forge as well, has ended up being worked on instead.

Not the best picture in the world.

To reiterate an earlier point - ‘desync’ can be caused poor net code OR insufficient infrastructure. The former is ‘easier’ to address from the perspective of sitting down and figuring out how to improve the code. The latter is more problematic as no amount of thinking is going to change how packets are being routed via ISPs or upgrade the infrastructure Upgrading infrastructure is also more a project of itself. I’m not saying 343 should be excused, I am saying the fix might be hardware rather than software related.

This, mixed with,

This.

These are the prevailing theories at the moment - 343 doesn’t have enough staff to manage Halo Infinite, and it’s proving to be much more difficult than they anticipated because the contractors who worked on Halo Infinite have since been sacked/let go. I’m also of the opinion that 343 is focusing hard on making as much money as possible to make up for a year of lost profits due to the delay, so whatever content is taking priority over Desync, is viewed as a Cash Cow.

Members of this community, particularly the silent ones, have already proven that they’re willing to buy whatever comes into the store regardless of price. The primary audience for this game aren’t people who like to play games - they’re whales.

Even if it’s hardware related, it’s still a result of bad software. The desync in this game is worse than any previous Halo game and one has to assume the hardware has improved since the previous games. At the very least, the hardware hasn’t gotten worse.

On top of that, the desync in this game is worse than any other current game I have played. So they are definitely doing something wrong software related.

There’s something that’s higher priority perhaps on their list of fixes? They apparently want to make Coops netcode at least functional enough so people can actually play coop reliable.

Makes it obvious they don’t have the staff they need to actually fix all the problems in this game.

Sad though, wish they could have done enough to make it so that you only get matches in you’re area’s at least before doing this. Guess that’s more difficult to do then people let on…

This seems to be a huge problem that is a direct result of using high turnover contract workers throughout the game’s development. Just another sign of mismanagement.

It appears that they have put such a high priority on the SBMM, that they can’t fix the region matchmaking problems. That was the big problem they had with players geofiltering. The game would match based on skill first and then try and find a server to host the game. So if someone was geofiltering it would pull the entire game into their region.

This is a fundamental flaw with the matchmaking system that will likely require the whole thing to be recoded. But instead of taking responsibility for the bad matchmaking system, they blamed the “bad actors” who were geofiltering and making other players play out of their region.

A mode they promised would be in at launch, then delayed to post launch, then delayed to season 2.

They cant really afford to not deliver after all that.

I don’t think any meaningful changes are coming to Halo Infinite until next year. There’s no evidence to suggest this is true.

Co-op is taking such a huge resource to get it working, means it’s going to be plagued with issues.

Forge will be bumped to next year.

Maps seemingly take months to make and implement.

Halo Infinite as it is today is what we’re getting until 2023z

We can just play MCC while we wait for the game to be finished. For all the people that have money burning holes in their wallets 343i is thinking about adding microtransactions to the MCC
