343 Clarification

I’ve been following a thread recently, about farming of course, and it’s driving me crazy. I haven’t had an issue yet because I play warzone solo most of the time, but it seems with all of the bad information people are spewing about what farming is and what deserves to get reported, there are tons of reports going out that shouldn’t be. This isn’t to complain about farming because I don’t think it is what some people are saying it is, this is a plea, if someone from 343 sees this. Please clarify that winning a warzone match by means of spartan kills not only is a legitimate way to win, but is not an exploit and not a reason for entire teams to get reported. If it is indeed those things which I do believe you guys have said it isn’t, then offer a fix or tell us all that it is an exploit. I’m sure Xbox support does a fine job of keeping false reports at bay but if the whole community starts rampantly reporting teams just because they’re unhappy about the way they lost tons of people will start getting red repped and not be able to play at all. It’s getting out of hand, too many times i have heard of companies running in a 12 man group get stomped on by another company so they all report everyone on the other team. That’s one legitimate game where someone just playing and having fun now has 12 negative reports against them and that sounds like a problem to me. So please 343 please, don’t let people’s rep and in turn gaming experience get ruined because of too many people crying wolf.

It’s not simply getting the max number of kills that’s a problem, it’s the fact that people are actively ignoring the core in order to pad stats, to the point where the other team is allowing them access to the core.

I don’t know if that game really happened or not, but if it wasn’t farming, then the reports shouldn’t have gone through in the first place (assuming the process was ideal).

People would still report eachother even if 343i sanctioned it. People don’t like to lose, and especially when it’s a humiliating loss that is rubbed in their faces for 20 mins.

Pretty much sums it up in my opinion.

And why wouldn’t they? If they can work on commendations or on getting Achilles what does finishing the game as fast as possible do for them? It gives them a win and not a whole lot else, I’d rather finish a game with a win and a bunch of commendation progress than triple cap and destroy the core in 5 minutes. I do think if 2-4 people have quit out of the other team it’s unfair and the core should be destroyed.

To an extent you’re right, my hope is that it will at least sort of curb the number of people in the forums advertising to report everyone that’s ever beaten you in a warzone match. It might be too much to hope for but I personally don’t want to get reported every time I get matched with a team that just wants to steam roll kills.

By finishing the game faster you get to start the commendations in the next game just as quickly, I find games in about 20 seconds, stop trying to get 343i to justify your farming. If you want to farm do so, but don’t complain if you get reported because others find it unsporting.

And what of commendations thay aren’t accessible until later in the games, like air vehicle kills, sniper headshots on vehicles, etc?

They can work on commendations without farming. Many companies have done that so far.

All you’re doing is trying to justify why it’s okay to farm because it make you closer to an armor piece at the expense of the other players.

And this is taking into account that not everyone was doing it for Achilles. Some people do it while wearing Achilles.

That’s not how it works. The last commendation I worked on was mantis kills, if my team was destroying the core in 5 minutes chances are I’ll be lucky to even make it to the enemy team by the time I reach the right req level. I don’t “farm” I’ll get kills wherever I can but I play warzone by myself 99% of the time. I will admit that there are strategies that could be considered actually unsporting (and I have seen them firsthand, they’re pretty messed up) but triple capping and waiting outside to kill people isn’t unsporting, you’re just as capable of killing them as they are you.

I’m not trying to justify anything except that winning by kills is a legitimate option. I like getting my commendations done but more than that I like getting kills, it’s a lot more fun to me than trying desperately to bring down the warden only for the other team to get a lucky shot at the last second and get awarded a boss kill that they didn’t really deserve.

They still get those and prolong the game, I’ve seen air vehicles and snipers in games from early on.

I imagine because they intend to get full use out of them.

I have never reported anyone for farming, I do for quitters. Been farmed twice in my over 1k games. You cannot control if others report you or not. As long as you are not doing it, I wouldn’t worry about it.

Maybe select weapons with low req costs, but most better weapons and vehicles you don’t get until about 8-10 minutes in and depending on the map and what req it is, it might take a bit to get full use out of it.

Would you call in a Phaeton if you thought you’d only get one or two kills before your team destroyed the core?

Likewise, I’ve been farmed legitimately twice, but my problem is everyone starting to think that they should just report everyone just because they lose. I guess you can’t really do anything about it but I’m hoping 343 can at least give a say in the matter and keep people from getting screwed because someone else’s feelings are hurt.

Personally, yes, I go for the win, everytime, and if the team are after the core, probably best to get what I can.

Most of the time I stop using reqs specifically because the core is vulnerable and at any second someone can go Rambo with a fuel rod. I’ve wasted one too many Helios Phaetons doing that.
