343, Change the January Update. Please.

Just from skimming through the forums these past couple of days since the announcement of Infinity’s Armory (January Update), I can see that a LOT of people are very upset about the news that it brought, which includes myself. It’s highly likely that we aren’t getting a SINGLE new gamemode or permanent playlist, no update to the file browser, and more. I just don’t understand why 343 is doing this. Gamemodes/Playlists are the MOST REQUESTED THINGS that people have been asking for, and after waiting patiently throughout since launch, 3 MONTHS, hearing absolutely nothing on the subject from 343 despite all of the outcries, what does 343 finally reply back?

"They are coming in future update**(s)**."

I’m sorry, but this is just unacceptable. 343, why are you guys so frustrating? It’s like you’re just completely ignoring the community_._ Nobody wants more REQs, we want more GAMEMODES. Nobody wants more remixes or forge maps. We. Want. GAMEMODES. It’s almost as if 343 are saying that they’re “listening” to the community, and then just continue on with their plan, without making any changes.

It’s almost as if our demands have absolutely ZERO impact on their plans for the future. I bet they already have a solid idea on every single update till June.

Now, back to the topic of this post, I don’t know how we are gonna do it, but we seriously need to change this January update for the better. This update still isn’t coming for about another 3 weeks or so, and that amount of time is plenty for 343 to make some changes. There NEEDS to be additional gamemodes and playlists in THIS update, not future updates! I honestly would trade ALL of the new maps, weapons, skins, armor, EVERYTHING, if we got more gamemodes instead. 343, you need to learn how to prioritize better, and understand what the COMMNUNITY wants, not what you guys want. You’re trying to tell us that the team is “hard at work” on all of these new modes? You’ve had 3 months to add these in. How hard is it to add Fiesta slayer to matchmaking? You could just turn off map pickups, and just give everybody random weapons. It’s not that hard. Infact, there’s not even a random weapon option in CUSTOM GAMES. Why? It would probably take a single day to make a fiesta mode and put it in matchmaking, and that alone would make so many people happy. But no, we are getting more reqs instead. Yay. We as a community HAVE to force 343 to change this update, or we are going to lose a lot of people. This is serious.

343 Industries, people like me are making posts like this because we LOVE Halo 5. We want to see it succeed, not die! With Halo 4, it was easy to understand. It was your guys first Halo game, and people didn’t like it. It wasn’t your guys, fault, there’s a first for everything. But THIS. With Halo 5, you are personally killing off the community. Everyday that goes by without these staple modes, is another day the population drops. If Halo 5 dies, it is YOUR fault. Halo 5 is an absolutely solid game, and it is damn fun. You guys have the foundation set up PERFECTLY! But why aren’t you building on top of it? This could very well be the best Halo game to date, but not if you’re going to make these absolutely ridiculous business choices. It’s all on you 343.

GIVE. US. MORE. MODES.

Suggestion: each update probably takes 3 months to create before release so instead of making an unreasonable last minute change how about you focus your attention toward the march update or later.

If this January update isn’t changed in the slightest bit, that really shows how meaningless the community is to 343. I just don’t get it. They have such a good thing going right now, but they’re letting this opportunity to revive Halo go to waste. It’s just… sad.

I highly doubt it takes 3 months to remix a map, and do a couple weapon skins and variants.

Also, March? You gotta be kidding. If they actually make us wait till March to get more modes, this game will be dead faster than I thought. Even if they just added more permanent playlists, that would probably hold people over until February, but no, they won’t do that.

I think they have done a fine job of reviving it. I’ve been playing for the full 14 years and I have never been more excited for future updates since Halo 3.

You won’t get anywhere demanding, kicking, screaming a week (or so) before the release of the next update. It’s smarter to focus on helping to give them ideas on what to work on as a community to what they are barely working on.

They’re humans. They’re coming off a holiday season. They just moved into a new office space. They do have limited resources (despite what you may think, it is a business). They have maybe a week, week and a half to have the update ready for internal testing.

I understand you’re frustrated but I don’t think they ever planned or should have planned on the January update being a major update. It is what it is. Just play, continue to make game mode requests, and hunker down until more game modes are released.

This update is very likely to come out at the very last week of January, since they announced that they’re doing a preview livestream 2 weeks from now. This January update isn’t coming out for a little while now, and if this update is coming out at the end of the month, what about the February update? Will that come out at the end of the month too? Because if so, we are looking at well over a month for something the community has been asking for since day one. And like I said, it’d be very easy to squeeze in more permanent playlists in this update. It is completely possible. Even if they didn’t add new playlists, just make doubles and snipers permanent. The playlists are THERE, all they have to do is flip a switch.

This is bad how? It’s still January.

What about the February update? It could come out the first day of the month to the last day. The update could be big or a bug fix. Plus we know nothing on its contents so… Just wait for the next tease.

The community will ask for a rainbow with a pot of gold in a warthog for all war zone matches, the things we ask for range from a few reasonable to a relentless amount of unreasonable and then explode when it doesn’t happen on some random person’s expectation time.

“And like I said, it’d be very easy to squeeze in more permanent playlists in this update. It is completely possible. Even if they didn’t add new playlists, just make doubles and snipers permanent. The playlists are their, all they have to do is flip a switch.”

Then you flip the switch. I am sure it will come and probably hasn’t due to creating new servers with stability issues, which are probably being handled onto of the current server issues.

Your idea of banning together to help provide support to 343 is great. Providing that support to the next update suddenly turns it into a rant among millions. I like the first one better and would support that, second one not so much.

You’re talking as if they’ve released details on everything that’s going to be in the update. They have not. The entirety of the update is still unknown so save your rage.

You guys who are whining at him. Just because “It is what it is”, doesn’t mean he has to approve of it. And you shouldn’t either.

As far as Arena goes, we have three core gametypes, Slayer, Capture the Flag, Strongholds. Any other gametype we have would be considered a VARIANT in previous games. You know how they redesigned the gametype menu? How originally it was the core gametypes then it listed variants under that? They chose not to do it like that, because only three core gametypes would be shown, and that would obviously look stupid, so they wanted to try and hide that.

I play a lot of retro shooters, Doom only had one multiplayer mode (Deathmatch) until fans started updating it. But this is 2016, I expect more variety in gametypes. Halo Combat Evolved had more core gametypes: Slayer, Capture the Flag, King of the Hill, Oddball. (excluding Race because I’m not sure if people count that).

This game is like the greatest rip-off ever. It’s not like the Campaign had a lot of content either, Two times the length of Halo 4? Yeah right, I completed 5 missions of the Campaign in maybe a little over an hour. I originally thought it was just one LONG mission, so I press start to check out of curiosity, I realize i just sped over a third of the game. This should be like…illegal. That’s false advertising, 343 Industries lied to us. I find it funny, they nearly doubled the number of missions to make it LOOK like it’s twice the size, but have each “mission” be extremely short, as if we’re idiots enough to really fall for that.

Yet people blindly defend the game. The one thing I can appreciate the game for is the seemingly free Xbox Live. But still, you guys shouldn’t be on 343’s side THAT much. If you guys like some things they do, that’s your choice, but really, don’t act as if this is perfectly acceptable. Even if you like the company, you should be able to publicly acknowledge their mistakes and flaws, otherwise that’s just being dishonest with yourselves.

And the thing is…we shouldn’t even HAVE to wait for a gametype update. They should be in the game at launch. So wait…what is this? Game developers are now releasing a PART of a game at launch? No, developers should release a finished product with a satisfying amount of content. If they want to release DLC, that’s understandable, but don’t take out content that should be in the game AT LAUNCH and repackage them as updates. That should’ve been in the game during the midnight release. It’s still inexcusable even if they release it now, because it shouldn’t be an update, it should’ve been part of the core game.

THANK YOU! I honestly don’t care that they went on a break, they should’ve had these modes READY. They should’ve started working on these the moment Halo 5 shipped. People are acting like everything in the January update was made in January. It’s not people! They’ve had plenty of time to work on these modes. Their holiday break is no excuse for them to not have any new playlists or gamemodes.

Remember Kids 343 owes you Nothing. Anything you get post-launch (especially for free) is a privilege.

The update that would make this game absolutely perfect would to just be to add all of the modes that are staples in the Halo franchise for crying out loud. Oh and if they added back the Hornet and/or Falcon.

If they just do those two simple things in a SINGLE UPDATE, not through multiple updates, they will make their entire community happy. But no, it’s 343.
