343, Can We Get a Response about Firefight?

The Firefight feedback thread now has 2300+ replies. It is 115 pages long at the time I am posting this. the only post in the thread from 343 is the very first one. Are we ever gonna get a response or a confirmation that you’ve even read any of it?

HAVE you read any of it?

if so, can we get a hint as to whats in the works, and when to expect it?

that’d be great.

Well, there’s this update from a little more than a week ago.

It says they’ve been looking at your feedback and player data, made those changes, and the changes set up further updates to WZFF. Any questions?

yeah same question still “can we get a hint as to whats in the works, and when to expect it?”

i saw that update. i also saw the hotfix that came with it. but what i don’t understand is why we are being forced to hunt down information on whats going on, on the forums on the official Halo page. Why has there been no feedback from 343 in the feedback thread? even if they ARE reading every single post, i think a “we hear your frustration with 1, 2,3 and are doing A,B,C to work on it” would go a LONG LONG way.

theres very little reason to keep this under wraps and secret, because almost everyone agrees that the mode has some issues. and the game mode is permanently losing players every day because no one knows what changes are coming or when to expect them.

I think every person who’s ever had a piece of feedback on anything has always wanted the exact same thing. And the answer is always the same, “We’re not going to say what’s in the works because everything is subject to change.” No point in riling up the natives by getting their hopes up about certain changes when the final answer may end up being different or too difficult to resolve in the first place. So they routinely drop the, “We see your feedback and are working on it.”

There’s no point in acknowledging every individual request or issue. Not worth the effort. The blanket response is more than sufficient for a reasonable mind with the patience of a matured adolescent.

If “A,B,C” doesn’t work and turns into “X,Y,Z” instead, people would start complaining about it, and people have definitely done that before. So what they do is never talk about “A,B,C” and just do what works.

The only things I’d like to see tweaked in firefight is reducing the amount of damage enemies do and the ridiculous radius on their explosives. A non charged incineration cannon can impact like 8 meters away from me and fry my shields and the banshees and ghosts just 3 shot you(1 shot without shields). Other than this stop giving them god tier accuracy and give us waypoints for all enemy spawns so we don’t run around looking for enemies until we get down to the last few.

im not as concerned with the how as the what is being worked on, and if there is some kind of a deadline they are trying to have it done by. because if i know that the mode is going to be significantly more fun because the respawn timer is changing and the bosses aren’t gonna spawn in the back of a base anymore (just examples) in a week, then i would much rather play arena for a week and save my reqs for when they will be more enjoyable to me, next week after an update.

lol see even this is really a short list of complaints, and it still has like 5 things on it.

i don’t think anyone wants 2300 responses from 343. and heres the issue. you say “a blanket response is sufficient for a reasonable mind with the patience of a mature adolescent” BUT, theres a couple things. first. THERE WAS ALREADY A BETA WITH A LOT OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. defend the garage is too hard. it changed almost literally not at all. the prometheans are too strong on an individual basis. no change there. spawns are crap. no changes. they heard one piece: the mode overall was too easy. and they responded with what even 343 admitted was a quick fix to increase difficulty of increasing the respawn time. on the live stream he literally told us that they did that as something to quickly increase difficulty, not because they had put a ton of thought into it and they thought it was the best option. no those with a reasonable mind can’t be sure that 343 will even attempt to fix anything. as for patience, the game released a year before we got Firefight at all. the beta happened and they got feedback and we waited over a month for the “final” product that was supposed to take the feedback into account there. how long is patience supposed to last before it is replaced by frustration? we’ve had the mode a month now and we have “we’ve seen your feedback and are working on it”

no one wants individual responses from 343. but keeping everything totally secret is silly and losing players at this point.

i personally don’t even mind firefight. it has been by far my most played game mode since it released. overall i have fun playing it even. but it drives me nuts every time i glaring issue happens that i have no idea when i can expect it to be fixed, and that should have been fixed before the mode even dropped.
