Greeting one and all, Yes, it is entirely possible for 343 to please everyone within reason, the following details how 343 can accomplish this rather simple task as far as campaign is concerned in Halo Infinite as we know little to nothing about multiplayer.
Music]
Marty was satisfied, who are we mere mortals to question his authority.
Sound Effects
certain sound effects have been met with less than moderate praise given the origin and in comparison to previous games, Time will tell but as with many of the listed options 343 can and should let players choose the sound effect they want from a library of existing sounds from across the games. The same should also apply to vehicles. As this was an earlier build time will tell.
Combat information feedback
Whilst the build is incomplete, certain aspects of the hud are controversial. 343 certainly has the capability to let players customize the location and presentation of the combat feedback.
- Shield, the pulsing shield imo is rather distracting and players should heave the ability to either disable or enable it. - Shield location should be able to be changed along with its shape and whether health is or is not to. - Shield recharge and hit flare are rather distracting and depending on the final build simply being able to turn it off could help build immersion, goes with the shield hexagons to. - Helmet display, I personally am not in favor of this element some people feel it adds to their immersion, should at least be a changeable option. - Weapon info location on the screen could be shrunk or the player choose between the location and exactly what info is displayed from - Hot markers imo and many others are redundant for the following reasons, Shield flare was an adequate indicator for shielded enemies of hits and those without shields never had the health to warrant concern, it also breaks immersion. I’m not saying that they should be removed but at least able to be turned off.Visuals
Halo Infinite is still a work in progress and many aspects from texturing to the final form remain unknown and without the ability to really speculate. All we can say is that the build was not at all complete.
Art Style
Whilst many of the viewers of the recent Halo Infinite campaign reveal where satisfies with many of the changes to aspects such as weapon, enemy and other visual designs there remains multiple issues for some concerning certain elements. All 343 has to do is provide greater transparency and ensure that everyone has the ability to play Halo how they want using the weapons of their choice against the enemy designs they most prefer. This is entirely possible given how 343 has envisaged Halo Infinite as a platform as many enemies can utilize the same animations/skeletons and hitboxes the only thing 343 has to do is provide options for players to select and the implementation from the get go.
Mobility
It is no secret that 343i has made enhanced mobility a focus and further attempted to ingrain it into Halo, despite the earth shattering shouts of voices in opposition. As the campaign reveal trailer has shown not only has sprint, clamber, sliding etc, returned, but along with those comes a Grappling hook, ignoring idea theft, this increased speed of gameplay has drastically altered the tenants of ‘Halo’ gameplay. Regardless of the position one takes in the enhanced mobility debate the following are true.
- Enhanced mobility has sped up the gameplay, reducing the time and capacity for strategic thought. - By facilitating the player with sprint it has caused a de-emphasis on vehicles as the role becomes somewhat redundant and non essential. - Sprint causes maps to be stretched out to ensure traversal time remains within a margin of consistency. - In enabling the player to move faster it became necessary for the enemies to both have a faster fire rate and their projectile speed was significantly increased. - Bullet magnetism for the player was also increased to compensate for split focus amongst other things. - Many enemies are straight up using homing weapons. All of these factors are forcing the player to utilize the enhanced mobility in order to survive rather than letting the player play how they wish to.If 343i is serious about honoring Halo’s legacy rather than burning it away, they should seriously consider enabling controls for the player to disable enhanced mobility. In doing this it would also remove the associated snowballing effects such as increased bullet magnetism, increased enemy fire rate and projectile speed. Whilst maps may be stretched out for the sake of time, vehicles will be able to return to there prominent position. Unless 343 have made certain sections of the game requiring utilization of enhanced mobility, robbing player choice, the options should be present both for continuity but a olive branch from a developer often seen as arrogant, out of touch and stubborn, this goes also for many of the other listed topics.
Of course it is impossible to please everyone, but ideally 343’s first loyalties should be to Halo’s customer base and ensure they always have loyalists.
