"You didn’t murder this person, but we think you did, life in prison anyway" -343 logic.
One thing I’m sick of is reading about distraught gamers complaining about bans, some I can relate to because the reasons are a damn joke.
I’ve been banned maybe three or four times over lagging out (or really from the unknown 343 server screw ups) and I’m sure hundreds if not thousands of others experience this on a weekly basis.
So I’ve just got a curious question for anyone to answer… When is the perma-ban coming? When is my Xbox Live rep going to decrease?
I’m pretty sure 343 have no right to strip a gamer of their right to play a video game when they have no evidence to back how a person quits since they cannot distinguish between a quit or disconnect.
This is also one of the reasons myself and some others avoid Halo 5. Why should I risk my overall Xbox Live rep to be destroyed over this game? Or can they actually distinguish between the two since my rep has so far not been effected?
I’m posting this because I was hit by this question upon reading other ban related threads… I’m curious…
Not to judge you, but literally every person that I’ve heard claiming to be unfairly banned has, in actuality, quit numerous games within that same juncture. These instances were all related to Halo 5, though, not the MCC.
I’ve never seen a person banned for disconnecting; not that I’m denying it, but I’ve genuinely never seen it. Is there any proof which suggests bans for quitting fall in the same line of action as disconnecting?

i343 has every right to ban you for whatever reason, or lack of reason. This is in the ToS / ToU. They can practically perma-ban you for no other reason than their own amusement and never tell you why, without any legal trouble, because the ToS that you agree with in order to play the game. The ToS / ToU can be found at the bottom of this page. I’m also sure they can distinguish between quits and disconnects, they choose not to in order to not have a massive loophole.
I’ve lagged out, even three games in a row, without getting banned.
Furthermore, look at the games you got thrown out from, how many others were affected? Wouldn’t you say that others in your match would have been thrown out as well? If your connection is optimised on your side, the issue may as well be between your ISP and Microsoft’s servers.
If your Xbox REP is what you’re worried about, then you should stop playing Xbox altogether, since any game can do that to you from just other people reporting you for winning.
I’ve seen people literally make up stories to why they were banned. One person thought Unyshek was farming him.
They have every right to ban you. Games now are not pay to own, they are pay to have permission to play. Paying gives you the ability to play the game they created however you agreed to their terms when purchasing the game, any violation of them gives them the right to ban you. In this case its quitting, betraying etc.

So they can distinguish? Because I was permanently banned for about ten minutes before they realised they obviously stuffed up. Luckily my Xbox rep has remained good so…? Do I deserve to be punished? Do people have to apologise for not having top of the line American speeds in other countries?
ALSO… When the game tells you the Halo 5 Guardian’s servers are not available is that my fault? I can be just as illogical as 343: MS will ban 343 from making Halo games and prevent all employees from ever making games in general ever again. See how dumb this sounds?

I was banned permanently. I made a complaint forum and what do you know? They fix it because they KNEW they stuffed up.
