I appreciate living in the Pacific Northwest and always having great servers for my matches.
I say this as someone who hates Halo 2 compared to every other Halo game, the only Halo game that feels good to play is Halo 2. Like, baseline the movement and shooting in the game is responsive and does what it needs to do. Infinite will never be close.
In all honesty I do appreciate some of the humor, script and world building work that 343 incorporates at times (I prefered Bungie on these however, maybe world building should go to 343 b/c of extended lore and media, but too much is left out of game imo). I also appreciate that 343 is working on halo and the master chief again at all because after the end Halo 3/Reach and bungie era I remember being uncertain of where the series would head. E3 2011 and 2012 where hella hype, which is where my last compliment for 343 comes in: they are great at advertisments and building hype for future content…
THAT ALL BEING SAID I HAVE A RANT TO GIVE ON THIS:
Doesn’t the reoccurrance of threads like these infer more about an existing desperation to find anything redeemable about the way this company has managed this franchise over the past decade than any actual merit the company is earning on its own?
Like if 343 was doing an actually praise worthy job we would probably see praise organically raised in threads about the specific things people love, or they would just naturally bring them up in these forums and online through sharing memories and planning matches.
Instead we have an increasingly large pool of players who despite choosing to stick with the series are finding themselves further dienfranchised by it and are expressing their greivances in this same organic method that I am guessing you would prefer there be praise; players are comlaining in these forumns about specific features they hate, and online they vent through sharing stories of stuggle and frustrations, and in my experience planning playdates have never been harder (probably because literally all of my friends have left the series and make fun of me for sticking with an obviously sinking ship…so yea)
So because of this we also see an increasing occurance of threads like these of players who still love the series and like me circa 2016 are looking for any way to justify 343 and explain to their friends why the guardians of this beloved series of ours have simply been the victims of some unfortunate circumstances and as a whole the series has a bright future…I mean just look at all the HYPE that 343 builds through ads and leaks there MUST be a delivery on this eventually…but that deliver has not seemed to come…and so we desperately look for praise but there is none to be found organically
I mean I had to sit down and really think about it for a moment and I could only come up with the first paragraph I wrote. In that I have 1 praise that is qualified by the fact that it is still lesser than their competetors and predecessors, 1 is just given for free for being halo creators, and 1 is me just complimenting them on being really good liars.
When it comes to infinite:
I think my general trend has been forgiving for Season 1 and tolerating for Season 2…Next week will be the key.
I think Darwi hit the nail on the head with his brief breakdown on this. I want to be hype because of the leaks and road maps mentioned, and I want to have the (in my opinion naive) optimism held by other passionate players like Warband2 who can claim with certainty that 343 will make it up
Well, I hope so but please excuse me if I don’t hold my breath. 343 has already broken my heart more times than I want to admit.
This is my greater sentiment however, and it really is bad precendent to praise a game for what it COULD be and not what it IS.
When it comes to fixing old issues I share the sentiment expressed here that 343 can only regain so much good faith for fixing past mistakes. The more frequent these mistakes are the less good faith they gain back with each iteration. We are on over a decade of absolutely unforgiveable next tier level bungles by 343, a few of which would justifiably kill any smaller company (does anyone remember the actual travesty that MCC launched in? without any hyperbole a match was actually impossible to find for almost all players.). because of this we should expect almost 0 praise to be organically expressed toward 343 for fixing things like desync or the sniper glare mentioned by OP.
All in all I still want 343 to prove this now jadded version of myself wrong for finally doubting them. I want Halo to be great and for the community to thrive to its best. I’ve been with the series since CE and have so many wonderful memories across the journey. If and when this happens (I know a lot of people have hope for S3) I would expect that OP will see all the organic praise they are looking for. Until then threads like this, in my opinion, signal more that 343 has done almost nothing worthy of praise than anything else.
…and boy, isnt that all just really sad?
I’d appreciate 343 when Halo Infinite gets to the point where MCC is now in terms of polish.
Also, Infinite still has that severe “My gun is sticking out too much” feel that all 343 titles share. Not physically, but the way you move the reticule around and the way the aiming feels is like that.
343 should thank the user community for beeing Beta testers and giving them feedback on how to fix their game. If 343 was a good company then they would not have made so many bad desicissions.
Im still missing a ranked team slayer mode but obviously it was more important with new crap game modes.
thank u 343 for continuing to develop halo infinite
you know people applaud that right? Because pilots nearly crashing the plane is almost always outside events.
I know its hardly the most acurate source of information, and even besides that Infinite’s personel track record on leaks is hardly flawless, but all the same its nice to have a little bit of hope for the game’s future, even if there is a 60/50 chance it blows up in our faces. I personally think it actually softens the blow when it comes, but that’s just my opinion.
I said potential, after all.
Man i wish i still had this vibe. This was more or less my mentality several years ago. At this pont i can no longer get excited for what could come in the future.
Even if it had a 90% chance of happening, i feel like i need to wait for that thing to happen to even get excited anymore. Idk i hope I’m not too jaded on this. Either way i think we will all know a lot more post S3.
Can someone shut down this forum, please? It’s aged like spoiled dairy product. Absolutely disgusting.
I can’t agree more. I’ve tried my best to be optimistic, but there comes a point where optimism is so out of place, so prepostorous and illogical, I doubt anyone could possibly continue to feel it. It’s probably an exageration to say were there yet with Infinite, but Damn I’m sick of having my hopes raised again and again and again just to have them dashed to pieces by 343’s seemingly boundless incompetence.
I appreciate when 343 lied to me about split screen coop again. Oh jk that pisses me off actually.
Hang in there, 343 dudes-dudettes
We still love halo- this gonna take time.
See you next year hopefully.
Ps- if you fix watchdog, id be grateful, as would all 152s.
Yeah no. They had a year to get a truly huge update out and they’re failing spectacularly. I want to know how many employees are in the studio and just what they’ve been doing since launch because it’s clearly not live service stuff with these horrifically glacial updates.
Stop with this crap. My god. Appreciate what, exactly?! Tf outta here
Nobody in the video mentioned aiming at all and I’m completely amazed.
Like, damn. Ain’t that one of the first mechanics you go about setting up in a FPS shooter?
Please someone at 343, please give us a blog post. Remember the season 1 outcomes report? Why can’t we get something close to that on a weekly basis?
This thread did not age well.
Nope. It’s kind of ironic though that a thread that was originally about praising 343, was revitalized by them giving us more to complain about.
I’ll pass thanks though.
