343 and this "Broader Audience"

343 needs to stop going for this imaginary broader audience and just make something good that pleases the current fans, and with that new fans will come, rather than what’s happening now with losing fans and gaining no new ones or ones that don’t meld well with the old. (See Halo 5 for example.)
People play Halo because they want Halo, not a different game. That’s like Battlefield trying to be like CoD.
I mean, they made the TV show to get people into Halo, but imagine going from the TV show to any other media of Halo and you’ll be so confused as to why they’re completely different. Yes I know it’s a different timeline but it still makes no sense. They’ve essentially done a Disney and gone, the expanded universe is now non-canon. Actually it’s worse, at least Disney kept the 6 movies before, Halo just said peace out to everything.
If you make something good for the fans, the fans will do the advertising for you, and nothing is more powerful than seeing your mate excited about a game/TV show and wanting you to try it out.
If they want to disregard old fans, just make something brand new.

I don’t know why they think making depressing changes are going to make Halo reach broader audiences.
People who likes captain america on steroids with a thick lady AI shooting space mankeys and small, screaming minions are going to like Halo, no one else.
So, 343I better stop ruining Halo because of their weird fantasies.

Its just a repeat of 4 and 5, they “try something new to evolve the game and introduce a new audience” and just end up losing everyone in the process and making no profit.

“Broader audience” doesn’t mean having to alienate your existing audience. I totally get why they’d want to get traction with a broader audience via other media channels and products from a business perspective, but that doesn’t have to impact or be detrimental to the original product.

This is something that I wish more movie and gaming companies grasped, or at least kept in the back of their minds. If you have a fairly successful formula, its true that you have to make some tweaks and additions to keep people engaged and grow the audience, but you shouldn’t cast aside your original core audience for big changes chasing some imaginary “broad audience” who probably aren’t as invested in your franchise as the original core audience.

What have they even tried that was new? To me its just a normal halo game with alot less content and some old features missing. I dont really see anything new that they added to appeal to a broader audience

It’s the whole free to play and “live service” models for the games.

343 should do this…

…without trying to do this. If they Evolve Combat the THE RIGHT WAY, the new audience will come all on its own. This is exactly what happened with the previous Halo games. The core fanbase grew because the series evolved without changing what makes it what it is.

Bonnie Ross needs to speak to her customers to address the current abysmal state of affairs surrounding the game.

I don’t have much faith in the overall direction of the company whatsoever.

If 343 was publicly traded I would be extremely bearish and have short positions against it.

She did. She said fans are a threat to them reaching a broader audience.

Honestly, people just want Halo 3 Remastered at this point.

Not really. I mean, I liked Infinite’s campaign and gameplay. It’s more the moves to free-to-play, “live service” and the TV Show’s stupid silver timeline rubbish and Bonnie’s comment of saying the fans are a threat etc.

… I would love a Halo 3 Anniversary though.

I agree. A lot of Halo Infinite’s core features are already pretty good on their own, but they could be expanded on.

Armour customisation is already vast (Compared to other Halos like Halo 3 and Halo 2), but I think they can expand that by allowing cross core on certain cores (Such as UNSC cores, not the Yoroi core or that Season 2 Eagle core (Personally I don’t think Yoroi and Mk. VII should be mixed together, but I can see Mk. V [B] and Mk. VII mixing together))

The multiplayer itself feels great, but they could work on weapon balancing, sandbox, network issues, challenges, and mode rotation.

The weapons in general are pretty good, but some of them could use some balancing to make them more on par with the other weapons in the sandbox, such as the Commando, Ravager, and Pulse Carbine. This brings me to the Sandbox, where we don’t really have a good variety of weapons in the game. Where’s the DMR? The Covenant Carbine? The M45/M90 Shotgun? The SMG? These are all great weapons that should have been in the game at launch, albeit with a bit of tuning and balancing, while letting the weapon serve its intended purpose.

We all know how the network issues are right now, so we don’t have to talk about them. (I don’t really want to get into them myself)

The challenge system currently is quite bad as it’s not so rewarding. We should be allowed to accomplish all 20 of the challenges whenever we want, not when they’re active. Or at least let us choose which challenges we want active. That way we can complete multiple challenges at the same time. The mode rotation is also a problem emphasised during the Tactical Ops event because there were challenges that needed you to complete say 1 Mangler kill. However, due to the RNG system in the mode rotation you only got Manglers after 9 games of Sidekicks, BRs, Stalkers, and Commandos.

I also feel like the game should reward you for your contributions in the match with credits or extra XP. You can push and carry your team a shocking 50 - 47, but you will still get 200 XP even though you dropped 43 kills.

These are most of the problems I have with Halo Infinite right now, but most of them can be solved pretty easily.

What I mean is that Halo fans want Halo 3… but for Halo 4 we got Call of Halo 4: Alien Warfare and then for Halo 5 we got Halo 5: Gorbians - The tale of how ONI Locke followed Green Man.

343 has had a problem listening to their fanbase since they took over the IP. And honestly, Microsoft should’ve let the boot fall on them and handed the company to better executives.

Imagine having a company making high quality products, such as a Lamborghini.
They promise people with Lamborghinis.
You order a Lamborghini.
And then when you are expecting to see a Lamborghini Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae Roaster arrive at your doorstep… you instead get a 2001 Daewoo Lanos.
And then you are obviously angered that you bought a third-rate budget-class car for the price of a Lamborghini.
And then while on a call to ask if there was a mix-up, the company has the GALL to say
“Why are you complaining? Doesn’t it have the paint you requested, four wheels, and drives you from point A to point B?”
And then proceed to hang up on you. Calling them back gets them to offer you a 2003 Daewoo Kalos as a consolation rather than give you what you were promised in the first place.

THAT is what 343 Industries has been doing to us for the past decade. And ONLY NOW are we getting what we wanted, but somehow the studio still screwed up and published a game with chugging servers.
“Fiiiiine… we will get you a Lamborghini… how does… a Monterey Blue 2001 Lamborghini Diablo VT 6.0 sound… one that has been in our spare-parts warehouse for over a decade and struggles to run?.. … … You don’t need to shout Sir. Geez, you really need to get into an anger management class.”

The only differences between Halos 4/5 and Infinite are:

  • 4 and 5 WERE evolutions of Halo where as Infinite is a Devolution all to appease the nostalgia crowd.

  • 4 was a complete game at launch and fully stable where as Halo 5 fixed it’s issues rather quickly and wound up being an enjoyable experience in the end, Infinite hasn’t given us a SINGLE major update in what 5 months now? Yeah this game won’t last 10 months let alone 10 years

I don’t know where you got this take but I hope you kept your receipts.

4 and 5 wern’t so much evolutions than they were chasing First Person Shooter trends.

4 Has Kill Streaks introduced, and severely scuffed visual changes.

5 Went Full Call of Duty by adding a Million+1 Movement gimmicks that completely wrecked how Halo maps were traditionally designed. And they added P2W microtransactions and Lootboxes.

Also…
Halo4 multiplayer was Plagued with server issues for almost its entire lifespan.
There still exists footage of Tournament games going down just because people would crash out of games.

Halo 4 was the least memorable Halo Game in the entire series,
Halo 5 was only being held up with its Warzone mode being surprisingly addicting.
Its Arena gameplay was heavily critisized for the fact that the movement gimmicks turned the game from an Arena Shooter into a Twitch shoothers.

343i’s Halos have been a pretty consistent mess across their entire time being the developers of Halo.

at best the killstreaks were just randomised care packages, no actual “Kill Streaks” however.

Chief’s voice actor likes the show.

Pretty much agree with everything your saying, but they will never stop chasing kids fortnite money with this model so its just doomed to fail.
