343 just doesn’t seem to know what to do with halo 4. They continually add playlist then take them down and don’t seem to be very creative in terms of game types. For example action sack which had mini games and silly play list in other halos now is just preset load out slayer games. Also they didn’t really think the new make your own load out system through either. Since you can start with a precision weapon and most of the maps are rather open or at least have long hallways you will most certainly start with one over a automatic especially since the DMR is more powerful than any other gun.
Also being able to spawn with plasma pistols discourages vehicle use since anyone has the ability to stun you. Also the worst of offender of the starting weapons is the bolt shot since it has the ability to one shot you simple by charging it up and its very easy to just camp an objective and kill with. The perks also make it to where halo is no longer an even playing field since you have to unlock them giving higher ranking players advantage at all times. An example of perks or packages giving advantages is dexterity which allows you to reload faster so say you and another player have same gun and shoot it the same amount of times getting same amount of hits on one another the one with dexterity will most likely win since reload is almost instant for most guns. I feel the custom weapon load out system is simply 343’s way of avoiding having to think of weapon placement on maps like say energy pistols for disabling vehicles and precision weapons so only a few players have them at a time so crossing open spaces wasn’t a death sentence.
Many features in halo for are very gimmicky and are simply attempts to be more like other shooters. Examples being the broken kill cam which never shows the players point of view correctly and joining games in progress which would be fine if you could turn that option off but since most game missing players are games where the losing team is quitting and you join said team already losing. 343 also has seems rather lazy in planing things like the file browser that wasn’t up til months after launch or the new CSR ranking system which can only be viewed on way point making it essentially pointless. I was all for some changes to halo but most seem unnecessary and unwelcome like capture the flag where touching the flag is auto pick up and you run normally but you are essentially more powerful since your melee is one hit and you have a magnum.
There are also plans for weapon tweaks but instead of making the DMR less powerful they want everything as powerful as the DMR and they want better vehicles. All these things are just to make the games even faster pace and maybe you want to die in 2 seconds like call of duty but i don’t. If they really want to be call of duty the least they can do is make two separate play setting like hardcore and normal so i can play games where i don’t die in one shot unless i choose to search that. 343 really needs to rethink what they are doing i mean halo 4 isn’t a terrible game it has a lot of potential its just what they are doing with it right now is not a very halo direction.
They are making it a modern FPS. They added alot of factors into gameplay, which make it interesting and fun, just have to work the tweaks out
All in all your words are just another brick in a WALL.
Paragraphs please.
They know what they’re doing. If they didn’t, it would be dead obvious. The game doesn’t suck, it needs to find its balance.

This.
I tried reading some of it but this wall of text really hurts my eyes…
They have made dumb changes like taking the bloom away from DMR which is how reach balanced it and it worked. They need to actually learn from previous games and not just blindly make dumb mistakes they are a game company and testing should be done before launch minors mistakes are expected but the fact the file browser was available on launch was proof enough they are just being lazy or just arnt working hard enough. Id also like to mention this is the only halo that has had this many balancing issues so maybe they should stop trying to change guns that weren’t broken in other games and just tweak them a little to fit the game. I know the BR and DMR being in the same game needed some balancing but they failed to make it work.

Got to love Pink Floyd!
I really like how no one who has anything to say about this other than they are working the tweaks out or the games not bad, i didn’t say its bad i said its not well thought out and tweaks should be done for the most part by now i would think, it is April.

Lol. I’m glad someone enjoyed the reference.

This, if you really expect people to read all that OP you will have to make paragraphs.
No one likes a big wall of text.
There i spaced it out a bit not that i care if anyone reads it but i know at least one person who will and it will help them but for the rest of you how about a comment that actually has something to do with what i wrote and not how i wrote it.
> They know what they’re doing. If they didn’t, it would be dead obvious. The game doesn’t suck, it needs to find its balance.
Agreed.
343 walks on the edge of a knife. If they stray a little more, they will fall. They are not there yet though. The balance they need is being achieved. They can do it. I am confident in them.
Also, i took the time to read that brick wall of text. Dum it down a little, paragraphs and what not.

Let’s take a trip back to before Halo 4 launched. The DMR was despised because of it’s bloom due to how random it was. There was literally a thread about it every day. The Halo 4 DMR has bloom, just not nearly as much as Reach’s. Halo 2 was an entirely different game pre title update, very bad from what I hear. So I would not say Halo 4 has the most balancing issues in the series.
lol the bloom for the dmr in halo 4 doesn’t even effect it, you can shoot as much as you want and it wont bloom anymore at least in reach it bloomed more and more the faster you shot making you have to wait and aim instead of just bashing the trigger.
i think it is obvious they don’t know what they are doing.
> i think it is obvious they don’t know what they are doing.
Yup, they all just got their 5+ years of game industry experience from a cereal box. Bloom was one of the most offputting features of Reach, in the opinion of a very vocal chunk of the community.
You are confusing what you think the game should be like to actual developer experience.

I think you’re confused with Halo 3 and not Halo 4. “Interesting and Fun”, nope, not in Halo 4.

This. Not everything is going to perfect off the bat. Combat evolving… kinda been a staple of Halo since 2001. There’s a lot going on in Halo 4, only reasonable that it will take some time – and lots of playing, and testing, and playing testing – to strike the right balance. I think the forthcoming rifle and vehicle tweaks, while not finalized, are going to speak to a lot of the disenfranchised players.
