343 and player population.

343 said H5 has a population as high as H3s. Lies because the mau works like this, you get on halo 5 to check the new update. You think it’s trash and don’t play again till the next update. You still count as an active user despite playing the game one day out of the whole month. So yes the population spikes up then drops dramatically. And all those users who only played for a couple of days out of the month still count as active users. Which is unfair to previous halo titles that had a higher population and more constant users.

Statistics are all about how they are worded and the are usually worded/developed to allow the person interpreting them to make assumptions that may or may not be true. I/E the best selling midsize truck in it’s class. Well that narrow’s down the criteria to make it sound like it sells fantastic. There may only be 1 other truck in that class. I don’t believe it is unfair to previous halo titles at all. All they stated was that halo 5 currently has the most monthly users since halo 3. What people do and assume from that information is their own issue. 343i has no responsibility to correct people’s wrong assumptions either.

If anything 343i said about H5s population or player retention was even remotely true H5 would sitting s lot higher than 8th on the most played list less than a year after launch

I try not to think about populations in the games I play. Ultimately, if I want to play it and has the population to do what I want it doesn’t matter. But on the other hand, that population announcement did make me raise my brow.

Nice to see you posting, FMJ xXmodzXxX!

Yup, 343 spewing lies and skewing data to make themselves look good is nothing new. Halo 5 is a fun game, don’t get me wrong, especially now that Firefight is out despite its many issues, but their data is definitely manipulated to make the game sound as if it’s doing great.

Saying Halo 5 has the best player retention since Halo 3 also really isn’t saying much, considering Reach wasn’t received well and Halo 4 was complete garbage. All their data shows, to me, is that Halo 5 has a better population than the two games that were considered “bad” by the overall community. But Halo 5 coming close to Halo 3? I highly doubt it.

I tend to agree with the sentiment Meds has here. The population doesn’t concern me as long as I can play the game and don’t have insanely long matchmaking waits.

Also, I’m glad to see you posting as well.

Why? Is Halo really undeniably a more popular franchise than CoD, GTA, FIFA, Minecraft, NBA2K, Destiny, etc…?

8th is by no means a poor position to be in. This isn’t a race in the Olympics where only 1st, 2nd, and 3rd count.

There is virtually no wait for mp. I would say the population is fine.

I’m just wondering why we get a req just for logging in.

343i needs more updates.

To make newcomers feel special.

It gets consistently harder and harder to attract newcomers to a game that has an established player base. Throwing them some bones helps ease them in. But you can’t simply throw bones only to new players, so everyone gets them.

Just like in game that allow for easier leveling up for newcomers after several months.

And also obviously to keep you logging in on a daily basis… Not exactly illegal to sweeten the deal is it?

Yes. The true indicator of a game’s longevity and community health.

If they lie what do they gain? More people actually picking up Halo 5? I say search times aren’t bad compared to playing Star Wars battlefront
