343 and MSFT need to support MLG

So basically MLG has no support from either, however, if 343 and MSFT really want this game to succeed, they need to support MLG and other leagues that broadcast to thousands upon thousands of people. Competitive gaming is on the rise around the world and if they were to let Halo fall out of the competitive gaming community, they are just going to be putting the final nail in the coffin of a series that has progressively got worse, even though i think Halo 4 is better than reach or 3(if it gets a few minor updates). Anyways, seriously throw some support their way and learn from companies like blizzard and Riot Gaming. You can see how their support of the competitive scene has helped their games thrive.

You’re about a week too late.

343 was talking positivly with MLG then Microsoft signed with -Yoink!- - its a done deal nothing left for anyone else to do.

so microsofts deal with -Yoink!- gaming prevents mlg from running the game on the circuit?

Please correct me if I am wrong but all I have seen MLG accomplish as of late is demand a Halo 2/3 reskin.

> Please correct me if I am wrong but all I have seen MLG accomplish as of late is demand a Halo 2/3 reskin.

Sundance CEO of MLG has basically said they want to use halo 4, but they have no support from either 343 or Microsoft. Apparently nobody has realized just how big of a joke -Yoink!- gaming is.

Ah I see, sorry I am scrutinizing MLG unjustly, just stating what I have seen, but enlightenment as to the truth is always accepted by me.

343i wants to have Halo 4 on the circuit, as does MLG. However, Microsoft and their contract with -Yoink!- Gaming is keeping them from doing this. The biggest problem is that 343i and Microsoft aren’t sticking money into MLG’s pockets to host Halo 4 tournaments. While on the other hand, big specatator games like League of Legends and CoD BO II are. MLG wants HALO 4, at the Dallas tourney there were 40k people watching! And with Ghostayame and his new settings, halo 4 competitive looks good.

Halo 4 IS NOT OFF THE CIRCUIT YET! There is still a chance, though it is a small one. I just hope people give it time, and that something, good happens this isn’t what Halo needs right now, seeing as how most of the pros have left…

Anyway, Just hold out everyone, because itz not over, not yet.

I would like to see Halo 4 get whatever good publicity it can get and if MLG can do that then I support them.

> I would like to see Halo 4 get whatever good publicity it can get and if MLG can do that then I support them.

as would I, and even though not everyone plays the same settings as they do in MLG, tournaments are still amazing to watch and MLG does the best job of putting on an incredible show. I am just worried that if MLG is not allowed to use Halo 4, that the online population of halo 4 will continue to decline to the point that I don’t know if even halo 5 could resurrect the halo community if it was amazing. Competitive games need developer support, and I don’t think halo can sustain itself without a competitive community.

People stop blaming 343i. Here are the facts. 343 Industries have expressed that they are interested in working with MLG. we know this to be true since we just had a recent tournament before the game came out. Lots of people watched it and many enjoyed it. The problem is, Microsoft decided to sell the Halo 4 tournament rights to 343i.

-Yoink!- Gaming and MLG are both equally big jokes.

MLG has a horrible community.
-Yoink!- Gaming has pretty much no community.

I wouldn’t sign with either of them to be honest with you.

Rather -Yoink!- then MLG. Most people tend to complain about the lag or ping in MLG as there excuse for losing, while -Yoink!- players seem to remain silent…I like the silence more.

There has been interest expressed in bringing MLG into Halo 4 or Halo 4 to MLG, and its something that has been discussed daily for a while now.

Give it time, the best decision will be made in regards to it soon, and bringing COD into this topic is a waste of space, COD has nothing competitive in its bloodline.

In general I must agree, I hate the flaming and ranting, and the senseless bashing that people do within MLG even to their own friends, -Yoink- gets old.

MLG puts on live tournaments that are free to view and gives out hundreds of thousands of dollars in prize money. In the halo 3 days they got TSquared on millions of Dr. Pepper bottles and even had a TV show during Halo 2. I wouldnt say they are a joke at all. -Yoink!- gaming however promises a million dollar Battlefield 3 tournament that never comes to fruition and is based almost purely off of online gaming. -Yoink!- gaming is the joke out of these 2 companies.

And to the others talking about how the MLG community is basically a bunch of jerks, I can’t really deny that. I have been a member of the MLG forums since 2005 and there is a ton of immaturity, but there is also a fair amount of decent people posting and involved. But what can you expect out of a bunch of mostly teenagers posting online where there is little to no consequences. I mean you can’t honestly say that the community here on halowaypoint is the friendliest most mature bunch of people.

I’m not saying to hell with the casual community in any way shape or form. I think a competitive community needs a casual community as well, but in retrospect a video games community can’t reach its full potential without both a casual and competitive side.

but hopefully someone from 343 will notice this thread or any of the other 500 threads that have legit points about how they can save not only halo 4, but the community as well

It’s amazing, when MLG and competitive gaming came out I just thought to myself “Wow, those guys really need to find a job”.

Now after almost 10 years of MLG I think to myself “Wow, those guys really need to find a job”

I’ve honestly never really cared much for MLG, I much prefer just playing games for fun and for storyline. rather than caring about K/D and whether or not chocolate sunday likes HALO.

No they don’t, as the Halo game with the least competitive merit it’s no wonder Halo 4 will struggle with the competitive community.

Halo 4 has been so thoroughly randomised and noobified that if you were to take all those elements out it wouldn’t even play like the same game.

Fix your title. This is not 343’s fault, they have clearly shown interest in working with MLG but Microsoft signed a deal with -Yoink!- gaming.

Why? More money.

If you want to blame anyone for this then go to Microsoft about it. 343 can do nothing ATM. Unless this contract Microsoft have with -Yoink!- is only for the Infinity challenge.

Well I strongly disagree. You’re entitled to an opinion, but reach had much less competitive merit, and i think Halo 3 had even less competitive merit. Will the game be stripped down a bit for competitive play, yes, but thousands of eople enjoy that style of halo. If you want to play infinity slayer or whatever more power to you, because i also enjoy the vanilla gameplay of halo 4, however, you need to take out as much of the randomness as possibly when it comes to competitive play. And I don’t blame 343 for not supporting MLG, what I blame 343 for is not listening to the community that supports their game. Like a ranking system for example is so key for the longevity of a game, but they decided against it, so even now when the community is begging for one, they still havent given anything other than the CSR which is a joke. Not only that, but custom game options need to be added. The lack of options put in is almost insulting. But with all that said, I still enjoy halo 4 a lot, and want it to succeed and i do believe that they need competitive halo to sustain, and a company like MLG puts on the best tournaments in the country.
