30FPS MP vs 120FPS FAIL

I’m on a BenQ Zowie, 1ms lag between monitor and system, and I have according to my massive internet bill and every ping/speed check including the system “very fast” internet speeds. So this is a Halo Infinite issue and not anything else.

Yep…we can add server tick rates into the equation…but also don’t forget players internet speeds, location and ping…but they effect every body playing the game so that kind of stuff is out of our hands. The platform and monitor you play on are in our control…some of which provide lower latencies than others, and whilst they are in our control, it can cost a lot of money to be on the same level playing field.

But back to original point, if you should need a newer system to enjoy this game, why is it offered without a problem.

Its more of an outdated hardware problem than a Game problem. The game is pretty graphically demanding, so if you want more fps, you are gonna have to upgrade. Pretty sure theyve done all they can with how limited the power of the xbox one is.

I mean you wont have to pay for the game again when you buy it on old gen, which is pretty nice, so if you do get a new gen xbox, nothing earned in the game is lost

Okay but I downloaded the game from the game pass, there was not framerate warning upon download stating that the gameplay might be lacklustre due to the version of my system.

do they usually give warnings about possible issues due to your system? genuinely asking as i dont play on xbox anymore

Your monitor response time and internet speeds are good and can can help you to an extent, but they don’t stop or counter the latency issues caused by lower FPS on your old Xbox One console. It’s not an issue with Halo Infinite as such…it’s a technical issue with what platforms we play on and unless they give us platform based crossplay options then there’s nothing much we can do about it.

I don’t think we can get 250 fps monitors yet but there are 240 fps monitors even then you still need to turn off all settings to acheive high fps like 170 to 190 fps maybe 200 fps at best with something beefy like a 3070 to 3090 GTX graphics card depending on which map your on.

It isn’t a software based kind of warning, but it’s long been established the Xbox One has limits. MS also made it abundantly clear that the upgraded performance of games (new releases or retroactively upgraded) were exclusive to the series S/X hardware. They had to expand on it multiple times as you cannot even run series S/X optimized versions of a game off of an external HDD, the system will outright tell you it needs to run off of the internal or an expansion slot.

So really no mystery about the gap in performance. As legit as it is that MS wanted to keep cross gen support strong, this is an issue that’ll only get worse with time.

True, sucks that a large part of the community havent been able to get the new gen xbox due to its limited stock caused by the worlds current condition. Cross gen support should be strong, but its common sense that performance is gonna be affected when playing a game meant for the newer gen consoles on an older gen.

I was actually shocked with the performance on my XB1, for giggles I installed H:I on it and I found it to be unplayable for me. I game mainly on my PC but I thought it would be fun to have some old school casual couch play.

It sucks, but that’s a part of a multi-generational game. It’ll always be optimized for more powerful systems, and the XB1 was released 8 years ago. Bot farming and flipping of high end machines really pisses me off. You can get a Series X, but the 100% markup from resellers means no from me.

Look at steam hardware survey, the majority of the people literally barely play at 60fps, most people have weak or very weak PCs because graphics card cost too much nowadays. If you think you’re losing to many players because of your lack of fps, you’re definitely wrong.
Also the Xbox one is 8 years old and used underpowered hardware from 2011, you should get at least a Xbox series s in order to have a good playing experience

You’re lucky they even put Infinite on the Xbox One.

I mean it does have everything to do with what he is talking about, Playing a MP game at 30 or lower against another player getting 120 or higher can dictate they way the fight goes it is not completely unreasonable to have last gen play with on last gen

If you still dont quite get it let me break it down to its most simplist version

They having to play against players that are magically appearing in places visually before it updates for them

Xbox One 30FPS (high 20s mostly)
Xbox One S 30FPS (high 20s mostly)
Xbox One X 60FPS (high 50s mostly)
Xbox Series S 60FPS (was 120FPS in first flight) (consistant 60FPS)
Xbox Series X (120FPS) high 100 mostly)
PC (60-100+FPS depending on hardware)

Your best option is to buy a Series S, Readily availible, most of the time you are getting a better experience over the Series X with multiplat and first party games if you dont mind 1080p-1440p resolution

Admittedly as well you may not get the benefits of a higher frame rate unless you have a monitior with a refresh rate of 144hz or a higher end TV with a higher refresh rate and low response time

And here I am on PC complaining about the performance lol. It really is awful, like not even close to where it should be. I have a 6900xt/5600x (halo infinites ‘flagship’ GPU) and only get 160 FPS with everything low in 1080p LOL. I should easily be getting 300+ fps with this hardware. I get 280fps in CoD Vanguard with Ultra graphic settings in 1440p on gigantic maps with 30+ players (and game looks amazing). But cant get 160fps on tiny static 4v4 maps with everything low as possible in 1080p?! On a game that doesnt even look that impressive tbh. Something is clearly wrong with their game, and its not just my hardware – everyone across the board should be getting 25-30% better performance. And dont even get me started on the input lag, how horrible mouse and keyboard feels and how imbalanced controller/mkb is…

Its insane to me that all 343 has commented on in the past 2 weeks is about the battle pass/progression. Not you know why their game runs horribly and plans to fix the incredibly lopsided balance with mkb/controller. 343 will lose 3/4ths of their PC population before the end of the year if they dont step up and alleviate our concerns. They dont even have to fix them right away!! Just at least let us know that you’re aware of it and looking into fixing it!! Just a shame because this could be the greatest Halo ever. The core gameplay is definitely there, everything else just isnt. 343 just keeps shooting themselves in the foot.

I have a 6900xt and only able to get 160fps on a 1440p 240hz monitor, with everything turned down low as possible in 1080p… I get 280fps in Vanguard w/ ultra settings in 1440p, and thats on huge maps with 30+ players. Something is seriously wrong with their game, we should be expecting 25-30% better performance across the board. Yet 343 seems to think its fine/havent even commented on it. So frustrating.

That is my suspicion as well.

I am getting battlefield flashbacks and in not a good way.

Server latency 19, but it feels like 200…

And my connection is perfect this time. I switched to another ISP and my problems with connectivity in cod, bf and other titles were gone.

Now I face it again in halo :frowning:

I hope they can improve it because I really love the game.

I’m aware, but it doesn’t matter. He’s playing on an old gen system and that isn’t a problem with the game. Complaining about low fps while using an old system is like complaining that your old car doesn’t have the nice interior and better gas mileage like the newer models.

There is no argument here, UPGRADE your system.
