I live in Singapore and I am tired of matching people from Europe and Mexico and play on their server which is at least 350-400 ping. Please stop torturing people 343, you guys have done enough of it. Please, just stop.
How do you m know the point is that high?

If your ping is that high its not 343 its your isp… Your probably bouncing off a satellite. That’s why they run fiber-optic cables under the ocean. Check the latency on your xbox settings/network details. It will give you latency which is what you want to know. Latency should be around 50 give or take. Always make sure your NAT is Open.
Oh yeah… And for the connecting to other regions, that’s 343 and region lock turned off. It’s a give and take… Low fan base in your country = hard to find games or no games. Open region lock to solve the problem = rubber banding, frame freeze, latency issues, unplayable games, etc.

And just to add on top of what BadDogg55 said, if your matching is really that bad the playlists would give you a red triangle notification stating you have high latency. Avoid playing those games until you fix the problem. Or you may risk running Ban Hammers.

Yup. But I tend to only experience pings that bad connecting to UK servers. Asia/Oceania to US is usually about 180-300.
But… I feel your pain. I ran into too many Americans/Mexicans/Columbians on the weekend in a row to enjoy myself playing the game.
The local player population has been even lower than usual since overwatch came out.
250-300 ping is an average on US servers lol. EU servers can range from 350-400 ms. There have been so many discussions about this if you guys don’t believe me I can try and find out the source from other forums. I am sure my internet does not suck since I am running on a fibre net with the following speeds 300dl 320up.
PS, I get 180 ping on west coast servers which is almost lag free but 343i has set it this way so we never get to play on West coast servers. you guys will never understand how cancerous matchmaking gets after you hit 2000 onyx or champion

this is the type of comment that gets on my nerve. Do you even know where Singapore is? xbox servers connect to Seattle and i am getting 194 ping right now. 343i doesn’t allow us to match west coast. SINGAPORE IS IN ASIA.

I don’t mind playing on US servers lol, the thing is it’s so laggy on EU and other servers, lunges are horrible, grenades cause 1000x more damage while they are flying pass you. it’s so dumb it’s been 10 years since h3
I only want 343i to connect us to West coast servers more often. 175-190 ping is nothing compared to 250-300 ping (East coast servers) and EU servers are legit unplayable. Can’t use power weapons/storm rifle, thrust everything basically.

Op what you are asking for isn’t anything out of the norm here. Basically what your asking for is having the option to select the server you want to play on. Yourself and many others want this option also. Even myself wants it and im from the US. The sole purpose of having dedicated servers is being able to access them and pick the sever we want to play on… Normally it would be the one with the lowest ping. Make no mistake the game was suppose to have this option but for whatever reason the Selectable Server option was removed. The only way to resolve this for many of us is by getting 343i attention on this and see what kind of answer we get. They do know about it but it has been very quiet on there end and so far no replies…
