30 FPs for campaign and 60 FPS for MP?

Probably an unpopular opinion, and that’s fine. But i honestly wish that Halo Infinite, 343i helming it with their new slipspace engine would rendering a -Yoink- ton of amazing detail, crank everything in terms of texture detail, volumetric lighting and all the bells and whistles and just wow us, so far the reveal trailers looked pretty damn good…but my jaw didn’t really drop outside of the chief’s reveal.

Something to Sony first party titles have been abusing is the console’s GPU, MS first party titles…not so much. Even look at recent titles like Ghost of Tsushima or the misery simulator TLOU2:

it shows that they’re putting every drop of juice out of the system before next gen rolls out and i’m hoping Halo Infinite will do the same and if it needs to be cut back to 30 FPS to get the same results, id’ say so be it. I get it…gameplay is more important then graphics. But, a flashy trailer that shows’ in game eye candy gets people talking.

I do agree though that 60 FPS in MP is pretty important for just playability in an online environment, i think in that department a lot can be scaled back for pure gameplay reasons.

I guess we’ll see on Thursday! Overall i’m pretty sure they’ll keep it at 60 FPS all across the board.

I’d rather them give the choice on what you want much like PC. However if I had to pick between the two I’d pick the 60FPS. It’s really hard to play games at 30FPS after playing them at 60FPS. especially a shooter like Halo.

Kind off topic, but I agree. 30fps is perfectly fine and playable, until you try 60fps. If they did what OP proposed people would ask for an option to activate 60fps, or complain that it isn’t available to choose.

There’s no need for any of that the Xbox Series X is more than powerful enough to give outstanding visuals at 60FPS.

The Xbox Series X is more powerful than most PCs available right now, including many high-end ones. There’s no need for 30fps when the console will be able to do 60fps no problem.

Microsoft have put the benchmark at 4K/60Hz… so it’s hard to not see their flagship game lead the charge.

And I would be happy to tone back a bit on the effects if required.

Multiplayer may be better suited at 2K/120Hz… and let fly with the explosions / particle effects / background damage etc.

I honestly cared more for graphics and texturing than frame rate. But since more people value frame rate, I don’t have much say here. I’m fine with whatever at this point.

Well…I think it would go to 60 fps. The Series X can run up to 120fps, for making an engine they need to have a standard base of FPS, they could have worked the engine in an PC with 320fps, but adapt the engine to Xbox machines, lowing up fps. I wish both campaign and mp go to 60fps, they have the resources to do it.

I’m in a different boat. This generation has exhausted me in terms of frame rate, I’m so done with this 30fps standard. Yes, games like Ghost of Tsushima and TLoU2 have great graphics, but at the end of the day they’re 30fps and that hinders my experience greatly. To me, games like H5, the Tomb Raiders, Gears 4/5 are way more impressive to me because they have top of the line graphics AND run at 60fps.

As far as next gen goes 60fps needs to be the standard for me. We are moving to NEXT GEN. These new systems are a HUGE leap over last gen. The XSX is in line with current high end PC’s for goodness sakes. It’s time to start demanding more, stop settling for horrible frame rates. In my opinion SP games should aim for a locked 60fps and then crank graphics up as much as they can at that framerates, then shoot for 120fps for MP.

It’s so pathetic and incredibly disappointing to me that games like Ratchet & Clank, AC Valhalla, and several other games at that PS5 event a while ago are actually aiming for 30fps, trying to damage control saying it’s more “filmic” lmao. I’m sorry but if your selling point of next gen is quicker loading… just embarrassing man. Strive for better, the systems are capable. I’m hoping these 30fps games are just that because it’s very early in the generation and once devs have a better understanding we’re going to see a 60fps standard. Until then, for the love of all that is good and holy, at least give us a performance mode. Some of us actually care how our games feel, not just look. So sad that some devs are still stuck in their PS3/X360 bubbles.

EDIT: I apologize if that rant came off aggressive and rude, this topic just triggers me lol. Time to move to next gen people, stop laying down and accepting bad performance out of these monster consoles.
