What do you think of the idea of a properly balanced 3 shot kill weapon in Halo 5; either as a power weapon or a low rate of fire primary? I think it could potentially be a lot of fun.
I don’t know. It would have to be a bit hard to use and low ammo to balance out.
I would like to see the DMR fill this role. Reduce its fire rate, reduce ammo capacity to 12, make it a weapon pickup, and you’ve got yourself a power weapon that fulfills a unique role in the sandbox, instead of the BR counterpart that it is right now.

I actually had the same exact thought while clicking this thread.
I’d be SUPER okay with this. Anything that helps differentiate weapons.

Im totally cool with that actually. A Heavy Barreled, Long range Rifle. That is quite unique.

This. I’ve pretty much suggested the same thing on other threads myself - raising the DMR to be a minor power weapon (similar to what the SAW is to the AR).
Maybe do something similar with the light rifle as well, if it returns? That way the BR/carbine are counterparts as are the DMR and LR? Or… something else?

A bow. That way the relatively high damage is balanced by relatively slow RoF and tricky projectile traits.

As for the utility rifle being 3 shot or 4 shot, I don’t care very much.
For a utility weapon, I prefer a 4 shot kill zero bloom Magnum with a killtime of approximately 1.0 seconds.
DMR has my vote, no need for two weapons that can selected right with variable zoom at start.

Honestly this is cool. I was literally just thinking about this before I got on the forums.
Anyway…I’m down with this. Keep the dmr and add this as a power weapon. 3 shot kill, low ammo maybe around 6 I’d say, lower fire rate, and a little recoil.
This would be perfect for the original Halo: Combat Evolved pistol to make a comeback…

This is a great idea. I’d boost the ammo count and make it a three-headshot kill weapon, but either system would be better than the wannabe BR we’ve got in Halo 4.

I agree with this as well. The DMR would fit perfectly in this role and could serve as a spiritual comeback for the CE pistol. Putting it into the role of a power weapon is interesting, especially when the comparisons between the SAW and the AR are brought up. It certainly makes a lot of sense.
I’d support making the DMR a map pickup power weapon on the level of the SAW.
Imma change my vote to a yes but only if the DMR fills this role.
I would need more specifics before I totally sign on to the idea but I do like it.
Seeing on here that most are itching for the dmr to receive thus treatment, but for some reason I would really like to see the lightrifle or binary even to be repurposed to fit this. Between the two probably LR, I like the idea of distinguishing the forerunner technical superiority like that, and the orange tracers prevent an obvious drawback…
Only thing that worries me is how effective it could be if utilized with even a minor amount of team-shooting or otherwise predamaged targets. But that matters a bit more with how they approach shielding in H5 really.
