So far from what I have seen I am absolutely LOVING how Halo 4 is turning out. I can’t wait til November 6th.
However there are 3 things that bug me and I really hope get fixed prior to launch.
Promethean Vision in it’s current state is a bit overpowered and could be toned down a bit. As it stands right now P.V. would become the Armor Lock of Halo 4.
The multiplayer announcer. Is that still Jeff Steitzer? It sounds a bit…off.
The multiplayer medals. They are all so ugly. It seems all of the medals consist of only 3 colors, blue, white and yellow. What happened to the multicolored and vibrant medals of Halo’s past? The medals now all look the same and dull.
I really hope 343i addresses these before the game ships. However I can’t wait

I wouldn’t use the word overpowered to describe Promethean Vision, but it’ll be annoying to combat - people lining up headshots with the sniper before you turn the corner, grenades magically appearing as soon as you enter a room, etc… Out of all the AAs announced I think they’re all going to be annoying. I don’t see Hardlight being any better than armour lock to be honest. In fact I can see it being more annoying, because the delay between pressing the button and pulling the shield out is almost non-existent, or so I hear. If that’s true, blocking rockets, and anything else that comes your way is going to be far easier than it would be using AL.
Anyway, announcer does sound weird, and the medals do look odd :<
One of my particular gripes with the game at this stage is none of the maps they’ve shown us look interesting. Sanctuary, Waterworks, Ascension, Terminal, Guardian, Lockout, a lot of the maps from the past were both fun to play on and look at. Maps in Halo 4 so far are looking on the boring side of things, going with the generic futuristic or military look.
They’ll very likely tweak all this stuff in the next few months. Make all the AAs balanced and not too gamebreaking and refine the other aspects like medal design.
PV could have been made that way for E3, help to get people settled into the game quicker for the 15 minutes they got to play of it.
Yes it is Jeff, sounds like they asked him to be more enthusiastic then his monotone in the previous games
Medals are one of the things I can deal with, all it is, to me, is a quick referance as to how I have done something.
1: Personally, it needs to have a shorter duration, and a longer cooldown between each use. Otherwise, it’s fine. So long as you learn the map and pay attention to your radar(NOW WITH ARROWS TELLING YOU IF THEY ARE ABOVE AND BELOW!!! SLAP SOME SENSOR UPGRADE TO GET A LARGER RANGE!) and your TV isn’t muted, you’ll be fine.
2: That’s Jeff. I do agree with you. It sounds a little lighter.
3: They look like place holders. I hope they do get to look better in the final release though.

disagree. But alas ive been arguing about PV repeating the same thing for 2 days. and people still believe its OP. so im done trying.
toned down a bit!? Promethean vision in its current state it is a full blown wall hack. It will literally destroy Halo 4 unless its massively toned down or players are given some means to cloak / hid from the vision.
The developers who say that people who know how to read radar wont need it are fooling themselves. Radar just gives you the gist of someones position, has limited range, and only pings every second or so. Promethean vision is a wall hack, with a ridiculous range, and will track a players every movement - allowing players to fully line up shots before emerging from cover.
That said - I am not overly concerned yet. I think there is a lot more to the puzzle we are not seeing yet.
I don’t have a problem with Promethean Vision. All things considered my Motion Tracker will negate any advantage they have over me once they are close enough for it to matter. And if I take an AA like Hologram or Thrust, I have an actual advantage in-combat to exploit, you can’t use PV to win a fight, just to find one.
The voice is still Jeff. He’s just saying things with a more “excited” tone. I don’t mind it tbh. But I wouldn’t miss it if they changed it.
The medals look awesome imo. They look like a part of the Spartan’s HUD, which makes more sense for the “canon multiplayer” approach. And it’s not as eye catching or distracting.
In the previous games, Jeff Steitzer made me feel almost like he was pissed off for doing his job and hated talking, so I wanted to make hin talk as much as possible by kicking butt.
But now he’s a bit too… excited… about it and talks about so much stuff at the same time! “Ordnance ready!” “Request confirmed!” “Assassination!” “5 kills to win!” cue intense music.
One of weird things about Reach is how there were so many medals… now it’s how the announcer is so present… and excited.
I’m sure I’ll get used to it, but I won’t be mimicking him as much.
I guess 343 really did not want to re-use a single sound, because Reach had the announcing just right. Perhaps Bungie did some editing to it, that 343 isn’t aware of…
I agree with everything stated by OP. Especially the announcers voice. It doesn’t sound
aggresive enough like it did in Reach (IMO they nailed the announcements in Reach).

> Also, the Hard-Light Shield worries me big time…
The hard light shield seems fine, It is breakable, you can’t use a weapon while using it and you are completely exposed from behind. It seems balanced.
The one worry I have is that so far we haven’t seen any sign of the Gravity Hammer. No hammer, no Grifball. But it’s a minor fault, I can always go back to Halo 3 or Reach for a bit of Grifball.
