We have 10 maps being shipped with Halo 4. We now know that 3 of these will be Forge environments. It is good that they are giving us much more variability for Forge, but that’s still only 7 other hard maps. What do you guys think about this?
I was worried when I first realized this. But then I had the idea that they might make one or two pre-Forged maps for each environment, and these won’t get stale nearly as quickly as the 5 Reach Forged maps because they are broken into 3 different environments and will have increased customizability, palette variability, and probably more objects to choose from.
This doesn’t bother me anymore, but what about you guys? Is having 3 Forge Worlds worth having only 7 other maps?
The other maps probably won’t be configurable at a basic level – that is, it’s unlikely that we’ll be able to delete pre-existing walls or floors… But it’s still possible that they might have large enough palettes to be of some use to Forgers. :\

10 multiplayer maps, which is more maps that launched with Reach, is fine to keep us going for months. Then they will release map packs (3 maps) one by one. I’d imagine that’s how they’d do it anyway.

Of course they are coming out well after launch, I just saying at some point we will have 22 maps. Plus a bunch of variants of the 3 forge worlds. Basically we will have more maps than any other Halo game if you think about it.
10 regular maps/DLC/ and 3 forge maps and we will see forge maps in matchmaking because it would be bad not too because it would mean an almost limitless supply of maps that could be added every other month

Yeah, it’s probably that.

If we count the maps without the forge variants, I don’t think we’ll have more maps than the maximum we got with Halo 2 and 3, however I’m perfectly fine with what we have, though, don’t misinterpret me on that.
I couldn’t care less about the amount of maps that are in halo 4, what I care about is the quality of them. if those 10 maps are actually decent then I’ll be very happy.
Even if this is seven maps plus the three Forge maps, that’s still ten maps. The map used in the Forge demonstration at RTX still looked really interesting. I’m fascinated to see what 343 has in mind for that map.
