Halo 4 as we know isn’t exactly the best game out there, and I don’t put too much time into it. When I do go on, like I did today, I am instantly turned off by the terrible progression system.
One number just eats at my soul and haunts my Halo 4 experience. That number? 2981.
I consider myself an above average player, and I find great joy in getting 30+ kills in a BTB match and in general, dominating.
Why am I not rewarded for this domination? Why is my excellence capped at 2981 XP?
The silly little kid thats in the same game as me that gets half the kills as me ends up earning the same 2981 XP. This fact right here is makes the progression system pointless. If you’re going to give everyone the same XP, aren’t we basically back to the Halo 3 progression system? One XP value for winning, one for losing?
And just to clarify, I understand this 2981 problem exists because 343 caps your game XP at 750. Lets be real, what would happen if they removed that idiotic cap? The good players would earn more XP for being good at the game, and the bad players would earn less.
Why cant 343 just make a progression system with common logic in mind?
I’m curious but what is with the obsession with numbers that a lot of people have?
Is it not enough that your number of kills is 30+? You need to have high XP as well? I bet you also want a high CSR as well? Three high numbers to tell you how incredible you are at Halo.
Once you get to SR 130, it doesn’t matter how much XP you get. The system is to show the dedication through time for a player, not the overall SKILL of the player. Seems like a pretty logical system for me. If you want too look at skill, you can look at your CSR via Halo Waypoint. You can also look at K/D and W/L ratio.

You mean, one for winning, ZERO for losing.

See, you guys expect us to allow Halo to “modernize” but yet expect us to suddenly not care about ranks or numbers.
Ranks and numbers are fun. I like being told I’m better at the game than 95% of the players out there and so do many other people. It has been that way since Halo 2. Ranking systems are fun as they allow players to view their progress.
It is not difficult to see that logic and you should know that.

Except Progression is so show how much time you’ve spent.
CSR is how good you are.
OP wants progression to do what CSR does. That’s the problem right there.

You win you get more XP to a certain point.
You lose, you don’t get that win bonus.
Granted they could always alter that and give you MORE XP like they did in Reach. Then again it won’t mean you’re a good player.

> Playtime = Experience
1XP for winning and 0XP for losing is exactly how it should be, why should you be rewarded for losing? That is the exact mentality that has got us here in the first place. XP based progression systems reward you based on time-spent playing rather than actually being good at the game. Out of every game I have played Halo 3 did this the best.
Playtime = Experience
Experience =/= Skill
The whole point of an arena shooter is:
> EVERY SINGLE PLAYER, REGARDLESS OF PLAYTIME OR EXPERIENCE STARTS EVERY GAME EXACTLY THE SAME AS EVERYONE ELSE.
Halo 4 does not do this, so experience (aka, Playtime) gets you better things. Which is unfair to players who have played less.
> idgaf allready max level lol

I dont care about CSR. My beef is simple: I hate how my XP is capped for doing too good. What’s the point of even trying if everyone gets the same reward?
