That’s fair. But how much? All of it? 50% of it. At least for the Mk. VII, it think those armors should be earnable through gameplay and engaging with the game. The same should be true for weapons. 343 put a lot of time into the Academy, but I feel many players don’t spend too much time in the fire range. For instance, what if you earned an emblem for getting 3 stars on level 1 for a weapon, then a charm for level 2 and finally a coating for level 3. Maybe even a full kit for 3 starring all levels like an ultimate reward. Players could even post their scores and whatnot. This still wouldn’t prevent 343 from keeping other items in the store. They just need to make store items worthwhile and not just be basic colors.
I like this a lot. Encourage players to play the other games, especially since Infinite’s campaign relies on prior knowledge of many other Halos. Also maybe give Mk. IV to people who have purchased Halo Wars 2?
I want 1 core, especially if it meant not having to wonder if something will be cross-core or not.
There should be. Also only new emblems should be monetized like the Noble Six Sacrifice emblem.
I have to disagree on monetizing the colors for emblems. Emblems really need to go back to the old days of Halo 3 where you could customize the foreground, background, color, and toggle the secondary color in the foreground.
Other than that I’d be relatively okay with this system as long as if doesn’t start to take time away from creating actual armor pieces that we can earn for free by playing or for completing achievements.
Oh, I meant no offense, I’m sad it was interpreted that way. I just wanted to be a bit silly, a friendly joke.
But as it wasn’t appreciated, I apologise.
They could make 15% of the armors free, but armors are the main thing in the shop, and if they don’t remove the current cores, the Mark VII is likely the one that will get the most parts.
That would be good.
I haven’t played Halo Wars 2, but if it has different armor, I don’t see why it shouldn’t also be free.
I completely agree with that statement, but the unfortunate truth is that the lucrative venture of farming whales in the current game market often leads publishers and developers to screw over the average gamer that wants the satisfaction and reputation of earning their gear. The younger generation that drives this trend never learned what the awe of seeing someone running around in Hayabusa or Recon armor was like.
I don’t want colors to be monetized in any shape or form. I was just playing devil’s advocate under idea that 343 just HAD to monetize colors. I’d rather them charge for emblem colors over armor colors. With how butchered the emblem system in Infinite, creating emblems isn’t even fun to engage with in the first place.
You don’t need to apologize to me, my comment was more direct at the other guy. I could tell you were just goofing around, but the other guy seemed to take it the wrong way. I just addressed you both since both of you were involved. I was just trying to keep the conversation on track. Sorry if I came off as a bit aggressive.
You are 100% right. These are already monetized, but they are done in a way that makes customization very frustrating to engage with. For instance, helmets, arguably the most important piece of customization is monetized (even basic ones). Without spending a cent, you only get access to maybe 3 helmets. And that takes weeks of playing to get to the end of the BP.
As for coatings. Yes, they have patterns, but tying the patterns to the coating, and thus the color, is a bad move. Take the Wild Kovan coating from campaign (green camo). Imagine buying a camouflage pattern but being able to choose what color you wanted with it. Make it green, yellow, blue, or pink. And on top of that now you can choose if you want to be covered in mud, plasma burns, or be shiny and polished (like the HCS skins). I want them to separte Colors from patterns and textures, because 343 could make more money (selling pattern and textures = 2x cash vs selling 1 coating), but they wouldn’t have to sacrifice a basic customization feature that’s been in the game for 20 years, colors.
Basically what I’m saying is that 343 shouldn’t charge for EVERYTHING just some things, and they’d still make a lot of money.
It’s basically a bulky Mk. V. You can see it in H5 since it was added to that game.
Something I haven’t mentioned is how they bundle their items. Most of the bundles don’t make sense or are just random stuff to force you to buy more than 1. Like how if you want ever stance you have to buy Mk. VII armor, Mk. V, Yoroi, weapon coatings, etc. I would like bundles just be $20 dollars for 10 helmets, or a bundles for 20 armor coatings. Stop trying to pad bundles with emblems and charms. If I wanted them, I’ll buy them separately.
For those that complete their weeklies early, I say allow them to purchase a new set to work on so that they can continue to progress, rather than waiting until Tuesday rolls around.
Challenges need to reset after you beat them. I’d even say let players work on a second weekly if they do it fast enough. But there’s no way in heck I’d pay for the opportunity to grind challenges that I’d probably have to use a swap on anyways.
