25m Radar Please

Wh-where WERE you for 18 of those 20 years??

Yeah I agree if you know how to be a crouch ninja then radar is useless.

I also show my self on the radar to trick or draw people to me as well. I’ve learned over the many years that if you’re always crouched they don’t know you’re there  Some situations call for being on the radar just as well as staying off of it

I like it a Halo 3: ODST style! No radar for me :sunglasses:

Maybe they dropped the radar range because now we have that threat sensor thing, as well as a bunch of other utilities…

Maybe because the pistol? It’s range may be affected into this as well. I don’t know…

Has 343 ever openly talked about the radar in infinite? We demand answers! :pouting_cat:

Bungie.net mostly. Moved over to Waypoint/reddit after Halo 4.

This is exactly why I love the radar. Removing radar takes away that fun & skill level.

I honestly haven’t looked at the radar in forever. I’m probably a fan of the 25m radar, because if you have it, you should have it work well, right? But I don’t use it at all, mostly because I play ranked most of the time.

Yeah, but guess what the best halo game in history had for its radar range? I don’t need a large pool of people to know that 25m is the best, the experiment is already there.

I’d like to see 25 then maybe increase it from there if it feels useless. But I think maybe 30 could be too large, because sprint isn’t really even that fast.

Maybe they dropped it for the threat sensor, but it was 18m in halo 5 as well. I think they believe that radar size is the best, I’d like to hear answers as well.

It’s true, ranked has always been anti radar, and I can understand their argument against it to some extent.

I would be down for 25m Motion Sensor in Social Matchmaking but I don’t think this game was designed for a 25m Motion Sensor. Because in the Tech Preview they were using the Ability Radar from Halo 5 HCS but the Casual Community hated that version which is why 343 use the 18m Motion Sensor from Halo 5 instead.

The only problem I have with the classic version are players that rely on it to get kills. The Motion Sensor is for support not to rely upon and camp until someone comes down a hallway. That’s why the so called 18m :expressionless: Motion Sensor was put in place to meet that middle ground for gameplay.

But if I’m being honest the super useful lone wolf :wolf: 25m Motion Sensor is a thing of the past that is good for Campaign but not Multiplayer. Only because most players play with a gaming headset which means they are always listening for footsteps and other sounds in the game. Then the other thing you need to take into consideration is 343 wants players to work as a team with communication by calling out locations and since there’s a Ping System in this game it gives players another opportunity to communicate with players that aren’t in game chat/your party chat or aren’t using a game headset.

But when Forge comes out and the Halo Community starts remaking Classic Halo Maps for Halo Infinite I wouldn’t mind seeing a Classic Playlist with the Classic Motion Sensor for the gameplay experience. :sunglasses:

Extra🤗
Now as a side note I would much rather have a 80m Attack Radar that fits all styles of gameplay. Because…

  1. It doesn’t tell you the exact spot where someone is at just the general location.
  2. You only show up on it when you are shooting or using a melee attack.
  3. Having a 80m Attack Radar you basically cover a large portion of the map and you can always find people.
  4. You can move around freely however you want to on any type of map and it speeds up the gameplay experience for everyone.
  5. Players aren’t relying on it to get kills which is annoying to players that are competitive but it still meets that middle ground between Casual and Competitive players.

This just had 117 voters. I could hardly resist leaving it there, but the Chief would want me to cast my vote. 25m it is!

I get what you mean with your suggestion, the only issue is that it’d be such a change that the community especially classic fans may not be onboard. If I was 343, I’d try launching a playlist for that, see what the community thinks.

Dude I cannot wait for forge, it’s gonna breathe so much life into this game. I’m really excited for it!

CE still has LAN events… so guess again.

H2 only passed CE because of XBL being available and it had way stronger AA so new players liked it more. CE magnum 3sk was perfect because it allowed a very good player to dominate since hitting 3sk was not easy like the H5 version. Watch some recent LAN events, CE has a high skill ceiling and is not very noob friendly.

I mean H3 was the most populated and long living halo game with an incredibly vast player base that took forever to die out. I was around for HCE, and trust me the magnum was super ez. If you want people to die to 3 headshots go play cod bro. Halo 2 had a way superior multiplayer, I absolutely guarantee that if HCE had XBL when halo 2 came out it would be a relic of the past. Halo 2 was just a way better game, and halo 3 knocked halo 2 out of the way as it became the most popular and well received FPS on Xbox. You shouldn’t look to HCE for what worked, you shouldn’t look to it for modeling what future halo multiplayer games should look like. Let’s take the best halo multiplayer experience and model the game after that, and what was that game’s radar range? That’s right, 25m. Also if you don’t like the radar and enjoy “skill based weapons” go play ranked bro, you can go sweat it with your own kind.

Thank you to everyone that voted so far, and thanks everyone that has replied. So far 123 people have voted into the poll, 111 people agree with me, and 12 do not. That’s 90% of people polled would like the classic radar to return. 343 if you read this please consider this change for social playlists. I would so much appreciate it, and thanks for always doing your best to hear our feedback. I know my poll is of a small sample size, but I guarantee that the majority of halo fans agree with increasing from 18m to 25m, and feel free to hold your own poll I’m sure the community would love something like that. Thanks again c:!

One of the big problems with this developer is that they keep changing things that don’t need to be changed. Nobody complained about 25m radar in the old games (far as I’m aware) so why change it? Tbh, 18m is bigger than what it really feels like in the game. Honestly, I think they screwed up and it’s 18 feet and not meters.

KC crying again because the community outnumbers them, classic.
I just want the range to be 25 meters to adhere to the original titles, I don’t want to change the existing detection system it uses, as I believe that will compensate for the extended range.
