So far, at least to my knowledge, there has always been an ~18 month (E3 to the following holiday) time frame from announcement to release with the mainline Halo games. Since Halo 6 wasn’t announced this year doesn’t it follow that, based on this existing pattern, we aren’t going to get it until holiday 2019? Or is it possible that 343i are going to try and pull a “Fallout 4” approach and announce and then release in ~ a 6 month time period? I don’t see that happening at all. Halo has always had a pretty big marketing push, and I don’ think that a 6 month time period gives them the time that they need. Another thing to note is what does that mean for the series as a whole? If this upcoming sandbox update/4k update is really the last Halo 5 content update, like it seems it might be, that means ~2 years with no new Halo. Maybe that’s 343i and MS realizing that they should put the brakes on the series for a while. Going quiet until relase is probably a good thing, but it seems like a 180 degree move from what they’ve been doing so far this generation.
I hope they do a 180 from Halo 5. I doubt it though. I wish they would fix the MCC if no new Halo is going to come out for another 2 years.

180 from Halo 5? Curious, in what aspect do you want 343 to change when it comes to Halo 6?

Art style, Spartan abilities, and customization.

I don’t mean 180 in gameplay terms, I mean in marketing ones. They’ve said in the past that Halo would move to a yearly release schedule, and for a while it was. Halo Wars/ODST, Reach, CEA, Halo 4, Spartan Assault, MCC, and Halo 5 all followed that pattern, but it looks like now they are taking two and a half years off. That’s the 180 I was talking about.
EDIT: Don’t get me wrong, I want a 180 in terms of gameplay too, but that just isn’t what I was talking about. I think a huge reason why it’s taking so long for Halo 6 is becasue they hear loud and clear how people feel about Halo 5. We’re in a little echo-chamber here, so it’s hard to get a good feel of how popular it actually is, but based on current population, sales, and overall public opinion it’s the lowest point of the series so far, and I think that 343i and MS know that. They are giving 343i as much time as they need to make Halo 6 a hit, and not releasing other Halo games takes the spotlight off the series for a while, and I think that’s a good idea.
They might’ve been planning for a 2018 release, but decided to scrap things and go in a different direction so it requires more time. I can only hope that it’s for a more traditional game style with some new added elements. I remember an interview where Josh Holmes said they tested a classic type of game when they were making H4 and people liked it, but they went a different direction because it felt too traditional. Maybe this time they’ll go back to it.

I forgot about that interview! I’m really hoping that 343i look at what they have, and what made the series great to begin with and make a true successor. Halo 4 was weird, and I know a lot of people hated it, but I didn’t. It was different, and not in a great way, but it was fine. Halo 5 is too far. On paper it might be closer to the original trilogy, with even starts and stuff, but it feels the most different and I do not like it at all.
I don’t think there is enough information available to determine when it will be released. We’re just going to have to wait patiently till there is an announcement.
I hopes it not 2019, Ill be in my first year of college and never be able to play… with its spotty wifi and all. Fall of 2018 isn’t much better, but maybe a little… probably not though…
Hoping to hear something when the One X drops in a few months. Would be a good time to announce a Halo 6 January Alpha so everyone can get their One X (or halo wars 2) for Christmas. (These would be the requirements for getting into the alpha). Then offer the preorder for the Late March/early April Beta. No need for a hype video at E3 2017, the game will speak for itself on the Alpha/Beta side of things (and those who would play it) Have a massive party at 2018 E3 with an Halo 6 Xbox One X S to be released holiday 2018
Even if the 2019 release date turns out to be fake, at least we now have an idea (a rather vague one) of when the next mainline game will be released. But above all…
Quality over quantity.
It’s what I’m hoping will happen, but I’ll be fine if it comes out in 2018 as well, so long as we end up getting it prior to 2020 (that’s too long to go without Halo, IMO). The last thing I would want is for Halo 6 to become the new Half Life 3, which would be a death sentence to the series if you ask me.

Having Halo 6 go through its own version of “Valve-Time” would be too extreme for most. Pretty soon, it’ll be 10 years since Half-Life 2: Episode 2.
It can’t be team oriented like gears, the entire point of halo is the master chief, not a bunch of crap AIs that ruined the campaign, huge halo fan from the first one on, but 5 murdered the campaign, it should only be master chief

What about Arby??? :[
I’m not sure if I can deal with another two years of this game.
Im hoping we get a spin-off game to help keep us occupied til H6 comes out.
I would hope it comes out next year. I rather them finish it then with a better everything. Destiny 2 did that and it has been pretty good despite Destiny being pretty bad.
A 2019 release seems most likely considering 343’s release patterns.
I want them to take as much time as humanly possible. We need the next Halo 3.
Would be nice to get some lower effort outsourced spinoffs to satiate the community in the mean time. ODST 2 (or other FPS spinoff) 2018 release date, Halo 6 in 2019 is my dream.
