they are unlockable via in game. Maybe achievements or completing certain things.
Ske7ch confirmed in yesterday’s CU that they will be available for RP or real money. Anyone’s guess on how much they’ll be, but $10/100,000 RP is a safe guess going on past Req packs.

When we had hope that we could finally earn armours outside the Req system but 343 then pull a “Classic 343” and they decide to make them available to everyone. They will lose their rarity and value and the fact that someone can just buy them out of money doesn’t make you feel proud of earning any of those armours. This will be a huge kick in the balls to everyone who actually earned any of the armours. You may aswell have given everyone Recon for free in Halo 3. This really makes 343 look retarded and incompetent.

343 confirmed that all of these armours will be unlocked by playing the game.

All they said at first was that they would be unlockable in-game. Meaning 343 wasn’t going to hand them out like that pig helmet they gave WyverinZu.
You can get em through the REQ system like everything else? EXCELLENT. Now I dont have to worry about not getting them. Will it mean everyone will have them? Sure. But who wore Operator back in Reach? Bloody NO ONE did.
Meaning I’ll be the only one wearing it. Good stuff!

Well Bungie actually did give everyone Recon in H3 when they left. So there’s that.

I’ve worked for months to obtain full REQ system completion and I’ll be -Yoink!- if they lock such good classic armor’s behind an intricate or near impossible system. I’d much rather everyone have them than two people having them. I hope they are added to the base REQ pool in addition to a special classic helmet pack.

I was hoping that these beautiful helmets could only be unlocked through achievements or commendations but I’m sure as hell happy that we’re even getting them.
