> Considering I already voted…I just want the armor. So I put the debates on and mute the TV.
I had an absentee ballot, but recently moved. I reregistered for my area, becuase I want to close the curtain to Poll for this election. This election means a great deal to me. Polling this way makes it more personal for me.
People should watch the debates to be better educated on the policies and thoughts of the President or future-President, not for solely avatar armor.
While it’s admirable that Microsoft’s encouraging people to watch the debates, in reality it’s nothing more than a small bribe. The fact that most gamers admittedly turn the debate on and don’t bother tuning in solely for an avatar add-on is disgusting. Again, it’s a nice idea, but it’s being completely taken advantage of for the wrong reasons.

There’s a solid argument there. But another thing to remember is people may hear facts and details which may change there minds just because they turned on the t.v. to watch them.
No worries though, as I said in another thread, when politics and gaming gets involved and it obviously isn’t common, the issues that companies reward people for caring about something is usually the first argument as to why Microsoft or anyone would do such a thing.
I have to agree with you Enfinit, any way you look at this, the presidential debates are being abused for personal gain.

Your implication being that people don’t do their own research or any of the like.
Like I said, I already voted. The debates are a moot point. I did my research and sent in my ballot. I’m not going to watch a debate that isn’t relevant to me anymore if I don’t have to. But since I was up anyways, I might as well put it on mute and take advantage of MS’s generosity. Why not?

The thing is, by the third debate (heck, by the first debate really) most people already know who they’re voting for, making the whole thing a moot point.
Well i’m from England. So i cant even vote, Although i hope Obama wins the election. As in my opinion hes the best man for the job. I’ve watched them mainly for the Avi armor though, Although the second debate kept cutting off on me so i doubt ill get the damn thing anyways…

My post wasn’t directed at anyone, my point was because of the Halo avatar armor, people are “watching” the debates for the wrong reason. Even if you know who you’re voting for, that doesn’t nullify the importance of watching the debates, and no one should have to “have” a reason to watch them. They’re an essential role into how the future of the United States may be potentially run and operated, if that’s not “relevant” to any American citizen, I don’t know what is.
Regardless, the bottom line is people are just taking advantage of Microsoft’s “generosity.” It’s a nice idea on paper, but poor when practiced. I’m really not fond of the idea of bribing people to “watch” the debates.
