20 second Trash Cleanup will ruin Warzone

So while everyone is off complaining about the FREE maps they are getting, I want to see if I am the only one who noticed the rather large change to the game play of Warzone.

In the next update, the “trash cleanup”, or time it takes before REQ weapons disappear, is going to change from 5 seconds, to 20 seconds.

The only thing stopping Warzone from getting overrun by power weapons was the fact that when you died, that weapon was pretty much gone. Now people will be able to respawn, pick up the power weapon they just dropped, then call in another power weapon with the points they’ve earned using the first one.

Pair that with the fact that power weapon availability is completely random, and it’s just going to make the already frequent one sided games even more common.

This game seems to be turning into Destiny with the over saturation of power weapons in every online game type. And just like Destiny, I am losing interest quickly.

Well the original time was 5 seconds, and you spawn in 10 so it’d despawn before you even respawn. Now you have 10 seconds after you spawn to get it, which is about enough time to run just outside a base. If you were really far away from a base then it’d still be gone. Plus someone else can always grab it.

People like you are why Halo is dying.

My point is that I don’t think you should have a chance to get the weapon again at all. There are a few seconds that someone else can pick it up to use it, but then it’s taken off the map. Even if you don’t make it to pick the weapon up, that is still 4x as long for someone else to pick it up.

The only reason I thought the ability to call in what ever power weapon you want was balanced at all was because it disappeared almost immediately after it was dropped.

What SHOULD be improved is where you are spawned when you call in a req. You should be guaranteed a safe spawn when using a card. Meaning INSIDE of one of your owned objectives, and preventing spawns on contested objectives.

You must not know the pain of spawning with a legendary weapon for the first time ever just to immediately be accidentally splattered by a teammate and know that weapon is forever gone…

I think the cleanup time is really dependant on the weapon. I was able to locate my whispered truth well over 30 seconds after I had died with it. The system definately isn’t consistent across the board.

I’ve gotten so used to the TERRIBLE spawns in the game that if I am going to use an expensive or rare req, I spawn at a base and manually pull the weapon from the REQ station.

But as I mentioned, I think they need to fix the spawns, not the time the weapons are on the map.

I did see this in the update, and am willing to try it. If they can dial the time up, the can always dial it back down if it doesn’t work. I am the player that gets insta killed as soon as I select a legendary req. I also don’t mind if someone on my team picks it up.

Read the update more carefully. He says that the system constantly scans to check for unused/irrelevant items. If someone else picks it up or starts hopscotching weapons, or possibly even keeps it in their LOS it won’t despawn.

As far as just my own observations of the forums, you sir/ma’am are the minority. Since we started pulling REQ’s in Warzone people have been asking for the despawn time to increase.

How is there someone upset about this? The amount of posts that I have seen with all of us being angry at 5 second collection was crazy. I would like to actually be able to retrieve my Nornfang when a team mate hits me with a ghost outside of our base.

Would love to know your logic behind this btw.

Well I mean I died on top of monument roof… I really doubt anyone was up there to pick it up lol

So that would be LOS then… God only knows where 24 players are looking at once, evidently the game considered your item to be “in use”. What their criteria are I have no idea, but my suggestions above would seem like a good starting point.

That’s bogus lol. Someone’s LoS from half way across the map through walls keeps my weapon in play, but I can kill Lochagos and watch his Incinerator cannon despawn right before my eyes as I’m sprinting towards it lmao.

Just means I can sell my REQ junk, just scavenge their weapons when I kill them.

I’d like to take this opportunity to remind you we are playing a 343i game… If you can point out the last thing they did that makes sense I’ll eat my controller.

The 20 second timer is perfectly fine, and I’m very glad for the change. Get used to it OP.

I believe proximity to the weapon also slows down the despawn time. At least it does in Arena.

If I’m right, and the game type becomes completely unbalanced and over saturated with power weapons, my getting used to it will be to not the play the game anymore. Same as anyone else who feels the same way.

The dependence on 1-2 shot weapons in online games is ruining online play in my opinion. It’s the reason I stopped playing destiny, and if Halo continues down this route, it’s going to be the reason I stop playing Halo as well.
