Having gotten the game pass 3 month for free through some crunchy roll promotion, I would say the price I’ve paid to play the campaign was fair.
Take from that what you want.

Yeah I never knew the prices for other games like you said, so I guess they know what they’re doing.
I like the price for the battle pass and I like what’s in it. I could see how they could have put more in it but then what would they sell in their store? The more they put in the battle pass, the less they have to sell in the store
Ya, the Infernal Nasus skin I use the most in league gives my Nasus a whole visual rework complete with unique ultimate spell animations, unique voicelines, and he drops a boombox on the ground for a unique dance (snoop dog meme dance). That skin currently costs 1820 Riot Points which is less than $20 Canadian. (20 cad buys 1960 RP)
You also have a chance to unlock skins in league from the capsules you get. Its super grindy but the chance is there.
It is ridiculous when it’s just a normal armor set from a game from 2011, alongside all the ones we can earn in the battlepass. $20 would be less ridiculous if the armor set was at least new content.
It absolutely is ridiculous. Armor sets should be at most $5.
Between that and the stupid “credits” currency that forces you to buy more expensive packs to get items you want (the premium battle pass for example is 2800 credits which means you have to buy the 2k pack and the 1k pack or the 5k pack…), 343 will get a permanent middle finger from me as long as that system is in place.
The whole secondary currency thing kept me from even contemplating getting the battle pass as it was an instant no as soon as I saw it. I absolutely hate games that do this and I will never purchase any type of MTX from any game that utilizes it.
Fair point if that’s how you got the campaign. But the whole reason it is on Game Pass is Microsoft is trying to get more money over time. Getting people hooked on their console, buying their games, and using their game pass. If Infinite makes a little less up front, they can handle that. They’re big enough to play the long game. They aren’t doing this for altruistic reasons. And you can bet they know some people are gaming the system. But it’s kind of like how they used to not care about piracy of windows as much as other companies would, because even if it got it free, you were using their operating system.
It’s hilarious that people defend multimillion dollar corporate greed that does not benefit them as customers at all.
And it’s not even worth replying to. You want to defend corporate practices that benefit the ultra rich and which don’t respect you, your time, or your money - that’s your right, I suppose.
F2P has been the worst thing that has come to Halo. It is sad that the golden age of gaming is over, and now we’re stuck with this - every game out there as a certain paywall.
343, I know y’all probably didn’t want to do this- MS certainly made y’all do it. Limiting your full potential of a truly epic release has turned into a cash grab, bringing this game to bare bones, limiting features and game types available at launch, and charging a ridiculous amount for simple cosmetics. You truly nailed the gameplay of this game, you really did. But seeing the true approach to this game is disheartening.
I just envision what this game would be like if it was not a F2P title - a lot of things could have taken priority over this monetization of this game. Honestly, I would have taken another year delay to get co-op, Forge, and a half-decent customization approach and paid $80 rather than what we have.
BUT, I really do enjoy the gameplay. I will continue to play, but I will never scroll to that Store tab. I get it, it’s a business - but make it reasonable. Battlepass a I can live with, and honestly progression isn’t bad. Just don’t market yourselves as saying customization is to Reach level. It’s most certainly not.
No, it is ridiculous. And it’s more ridiculous that people accept it.
You say that it’s fair cause other games compare worse than Halo Infinite monetization scheme. If you extend that analogy outside of the game. “Well sure, he beat that guy up. But at least he didn’t kill him.” And then people go: Ah yes, very good. Very good. Not so bad after all.
Wrong viewpoint my friend. But kudo’s to you for having the balls to stand for what you believe in. Even if it is objectively wrong.
I find it quite ridiculous. I understand the game is free, you don’t have to pay yada yada. But let’s take a look at Halo 5 for example:
That game cost $60 and gave you a campaign and literally hundreds if not potentially over a thousand different armor pieces/customizations all for that price on top of more modes and maps. Let’s equate the $20 armor sets and hypothetically treat as if Halo 5 did the same monetization. We’ll say Halo 5 has 600 customizable pieces and each set in Infinite has what 6-10 per set? Now with the numbers I made up above were added together (10 per set) to hypothetically unlock every piece in Halo 5, that would cost a total of $1,200.00…
I’d rather pay the $60.
No, they would make as much, if not even more money. Countless players (myself included) would be more inclined to make purchases with the model I suggested, and the whales are going to buy no matter what. If you’re arguing that not having $20 armors will cause them to not make as much money, consider the amount of players who would be much more pleased with their looks and the control of their customization and then in turn go and spend more in the store. Right now I’m super disgusted by not choosing my own colors so I won’t spend a dime. I’m not the only one.
More than I’m willing to pay.
Maybe I’m misunderstanding, but it sounds like you are suggesting to remove the ability to purchase armor (only gaining through gameplay), which is probably the most sought after customization. I don’t see how you could convince anyone how that would make 343 more money. Of course I would like to gain all armor from playing, so I don’t have to buy it, which is exactly why it will never happen.
Sure, let me clarify because this is something I didn’t quite convey in that post but I have in other threads.
All armors from previous games should be unlocked via achievements, challenges, progression system and battlepass.
Some NEW armor designs can be released via those methods and/or some via the store. Less people would be agitated by that.
Exactly! I paid for Reach. I bought the Legendary Edition in fact. Which had a cooler flaming helmet by the way. I don’t want to be charged for the armor in that game again when I spent so much on it the first time. Why should we have to buy armor we already paid for? It’s ridiculous. Some of us paid for it twice (MCC and Reach).
Fair enough, but I’m sure you do realize that these are completely different assets.
It’s not like they redesigned them or anything. It’s not like it took them as much work to get them working in the game as it did new armors which they had to design and model from scratch. It’s not like they don’t realize players have already purchased those armors multiple times over. Yeah, they aren’t exactly the same assets. But charging us $20 for the same armor we’ve bought twice is too much, even if has slightly updated models.
If the leaks are correct $1,000 of shop items are ready to sell to players just for Season 1.
If anyone thinks $1,000 to own all of the content is a fair price then you do you but personally I think you’re mad.
They won’t thank you for this OP.
$20.00 For an Armor set is not ridiculous…
Okay child… @UniSectorian AND ANYONE WILLING TO DEFEND THIS STANCE OF “ $20 for an armor set is not ridiculous "
$60.00 for Campaign, all while the Multiplayer was free.
$60.00 For Campaign
-$20.00 For ONE Armor set
---------------
** $40.00**
$60.00 For the Campaign AND just Armor Coatings, Vehicle Coatings, Stances, Weapon Charms and Emblems. NO ARMOR UNLOCKS WHAT SO EVER FOR BUYING THE CAMPAIGN.
*** $10.00 For the Battle Pass** ( One time Purchase )
( In-game shop items that rotate / FOMO - FEAR OF MISSING OUT )
$10.00 - $20.00 For an Armor Set
*** $5.00 - $10.00 For a Weapon Ornament / Coating / Armor Ornament ( Bundle )**
$10.00 For an Halo Championship Series ( HCS ) Esports Coating / Emblem to pretend / Look like you’re an pRo pLaYeR… “Supporting you’re favorite team”
Minus the Halo Championship Series ( HCS ) Armor bundles, and just focus on the In game item store that rotates weekly, you see that these items SURPASS the total price of the Campaign $60.00 Price, factor in the Limited Edition of the Campaign Bundle, ( Which you still hardly get anything for a higher price ) Then you start to realize what the player base is really complaining about.
Yes it is a free to play multiplayer, but IT IS NOT A FREE TO PLAY GAME as a whole. The campaign still cost money and two armor sets is almost equivalent to a full game set to $60.00, now factor in taxes and regional area’s not set in the United States, then you will see that the price is much higher than $20.00 - $25.00.
Like if you’re going to defend 343 Industries and the direction that there taking Halo. EDUCATE YOURSELF’S. Or you’re going to come off like a hypocrite saying one thing and saying the opposite.
343 Industries isn’t the first gaming studio to go down the rabbit hole of micro-transactions, but 343 Industries is coming off really predatorial like Valorant and heading down the route of Star Citizen, by Cloud Imperium Studios, which if you don’t know, charges its player base $10.00 - $1000.00+ dollars just for ONE in-game item. Star Citizen is still in its ALPHA stage and in a kickstarter phase still.
There are SOOOO Many other Gaming studios I or anyone can list that are just as bad, but 343 Industries is on a path that WILL KILL HALO.
In that context, yes… Halo fans / Halo players are always going to play Halo for the campaign and multiplayer, but the player count is going to drop and ONLY rise when “ NEW “ content for the Campaign is released or for a cool special event.
It does really feel like Halo Infinite is in a Kickstarter / Go fund me phase ; The Insider Program allowed players to play the Alpha build of the multiplayer, 2 - 3 months later the multiplayer is released and there was nothing different between The Insider Program Alpha build vs the “ FULL “ release build in which 343 Industries even stated until the campaign release, the multiplayer will be consider a Beta phase…
When Starwars Battlefront 2 had it’s beta, the beta allowed players to drop money for micro-transactions, Its player base ripped apart EA Games.
When 343 Industries pulled the same stunt, but IN A ALPHA BUILD, its player base did the same thing calling it out, ALL WHILE HALO YOUTUBE CONTENT CREATORS were defending it, later we learned that these Halo YouTube Content creators have been playing the game since JANUARY 1st, 2021, from Campaign, multiplayer and forge… These content creators are credited in game / in credits of Halo Infinite as “ The Forerunners “ Team. Now that the game is out, and youtube has hidden its Dislikes, these content creators ; some of them have back to back videos of them defending 343 Industries and speaking up against 343 Industries on the choices being made in game that US fans are debating over on Waypoint.
343 industries in only choosing to listen to the forerunner team when it comes to feedback, all while ignoring US here on the forums.
Go to Twitter and see who 343 Industries is choosing to listen too.
1. Halo Youtuber Content Creators.
2. Halo Esports PRO Players, ( Not the wannabe players claiming there tournament material, but players with there own skins / coatings and emblems in game )
3. Any of The Forerunner players who were hand picked by 343 Industries to promote the game for free while claiming they got to “ HELP “ work on the game. A GAME NOW BEING CONSIDERED UNFINISHED to its investors, consumers and defenders.
Now I get it, you’re either going to defend 343 Industries or go against 343 industries cause they made a Halo game thats not Halo CE, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo ODST, Halo Reach, Halo 4, Halo 5 or any Halo title. Whatever side you’re choosing to take, GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT… Don’t understand, but COMPREHEND what you’re defending or calling out.
There are alot of variables that factor into an argument, if you ignore what others are arguing and stating what you claim or defend as the “ Definitive “, Then you are sheep who will say anything to get approval, attention or praise by what your defending.
@Unisectorian, Based on your post, I can tell you don’t know what you’re talking about, you’re having to go back and fourth defending 343 Industries with agreeing with them, all while stating you don’t agree with them. You sound like You’re trying to kiss**, but don’t want to ; but you already agreed to and you realize you can’t back out without looking like a hypocrite.*
Say what you, but it doesnt matter, you’re seeing now in the comments on how you are wrong and that changing your opinion is having you look like a fool.
