As I’ve said in my topic, the competitive community of old needs to realize that the games of old are gone and the new generations of players to Halo are going to be the people to continue the franchise along with us. Competitive gamers for years have felt they were being brushed to the side and I can finally say that Bungie was listening no differently then 343, which I might add is on jaw dropping levels when you consider that the baseline for information they looked at for Halo 4 was us. The fans. Competitive, casual, whatever label they did look at us when we were disappointed with the DMR and wanted the BR back, how we wanted competitive maps not from campaign, but this franchise was not built by listening to one group and excluding others. It was built because out of X capacity, 343 calculated out what needed to happen to satisfy each group as much as they could without showing too much favoritism, but the competitive community has always felt the franchise was also their baby, that they helped build it up and you know what? It’s correct. They were playing the old Halo games. But as a developer, video game making is never that simple when you have one person who condemns one change, but three others praise it or vice versa.
The competitive community of old is still here. It’s in me no different then it is you. But you need to recognize that it isn’t about majority or even minority, but appealing and satisfying everyone and if 70% of the community asks for casual-related things, then that is what we will see as a dominance.
> This post was not to bring up old news about rank but maybe a game that we can take our friends to, spend our money towards (LAN’s and the game alike), etc… That this game is more competition friendly. That requires skill which is similar in the story, but not in the multiplayer.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I can see your mentality and I clarified what you meant to say with that. If this is the case… the competitive games of old that your referring to will be in a classic playlist for gamers like yourself. Less options (AA’s, perks, etc.) and similar situations to what we know in the past, but let me clarify that, as I said in my original topic above, the classic environment died with CE. There’s nothing wrong with recognizing the fact that no Halo game has played or even came across as redundant, but in today’s world, the game is changing faces once more and its up to you to decide if you want to be here with us or not.
> Maybe like a lifeboat or something us big time veterans can look forward to because the new kids on the block think they can justify how its not gonna get boring without a number next to your name, or not having a recollection of the roots, but believing ignorance is bliss.
You want a specialized section for older gamers only? Not all older gamers were competitive. It was just as casual as it is today, more or less.
> Lets not get off topic here but I hope some game gets major and is well known, but I can’t think of it off the top of my head though I’m longing for it.
We’ll see how Halo 4 fairs. The definition for this is purely speculative unless your comparing it to previous Halo games like me.
> I miss that excitement to lay it all on the line. The game is gold now, but I could lay the white flag down knowing I can have something more profound to my taste.
Well, that’s your choice.
> Can anyone brainstorm new ideas or games that are out that someone like me might wanna take a look at?
This is not a place for answering this.
