2 Week Credit Ban?

i got banned from Cr for two weeks because i used custom challenges that 343 put on… i maxed out the cr limit and got banned. i didnt do anything wrong. it is unfair that i got banned and i want to talk to someone who will explain exactly what i did wrong

343i is being very stupid. I didn’t get banned or anything, but seriously? First you make a system and you are dumb enough to leave a huge exploit in it that allows players to get 1,500,000 Cr in 3 hours, 3 months pass, then you finally decide “Hey, lets make them earn the credits immediately so they can’t get past the credit cap when offline!..Oh wait, we should also ban them without warning anyone for using our -Yoink- system, even though they are using the custom challenges in a perfect and legit way”

What the hell?

343 banned everyone who used that Custom Challenge exploit on ONI Sword Base.

I have to agree that this was a very poor decision on their side.

Edit: Looks like they didn’t have the intention to ban everyone and it’s the banhammer being faulty.

I feel sorry for those who actually didn’t even go over the cap using the exploit.

hey, don’t give hate to 343

343 didn’t change the flawed credit system because they were afraid that if the did, they would damage the Reach population

343 then added custom challenges to keep the people in reach continuolsy playing…at least until Halo 4 comes out

and finally, 343 can’ t fix the ban system,

the OP probably got banned for some gameplay aspect (i’m still trying to find a way to look at stats via waypoint, B.net is incredibly outdated) or maybe he got banned because the bannhammer thought he was boosting

either way, 343 can’t fix the already epicly flawed system, simply because they can’t, it’s one of those hard-coded things that 343 can’t mess with if they don’t want to break anything

What? It isn’t “hard coded”. 343 created Custom Challenges. 343 created the fact you can have 5 custom challenges at once. 343 created the fact that yuo get 5,000 a challenge in campaign.

Oni Swordbase isn’t bannable, Bungie has said so since it was discovered back in October 2010. People decided to use the Custom Challenges the way there were meant to be used, and createc challenges to get kills, and then went on ONI: Swordbase and used a Target Locator. How is this “cheating”? They used the system perfectly fine, and got there kills much faster.

343 then created the idea to then ban anyone who did Custom Challnges on ONI: Swordbase. How is ANY of that “hard coded” into the game?

Remember when Reach came out, then users discovered AFK boosting?

Remember how for a short time, there was no bans for those, then eventually, Bungie manually banned them until eventually, people automatically got banned for it, yup, they updated the ban hammer.

The ban hammer is not coded hard into the game, 343 could edit it to make anyone who played one game of Reach and got 3 kills get banned, its simpler than you are suggesting.

The OP didn’t get banned for a game-related aspect, I haven’t done anything to break the rules since I was last banned over 6 months ago I think it is now, I was cR banned last night for two weeks after doing the Custom Challenge boosting.

The Custom Challenge boosting w/ ONI Target Locator are the reason for these two week bans, and there is NO denying it.

I know you are a player who knows fairness. Is this fair? Banning people without so much as a warning. I think we were baited.

Any comment I make on the matter isn’t exactly valid because I myself was cR banned from this, I am obviously going to call it unfair for myself and others.

However, I see it as a bit of a poor decision on the way it was fixed to stop it from happening and being abused as much, but then continuing to ban those who done it without any warning.

I agree with you on this. If 343 just fixed it, that would have been enough, but banning players without warning is just wrong, and Ill conceived. What’s next, we are only allowed to play 5 games of firefight everyday or we will get banned for that.

I’m looking into this now. My goal is to get information about why people were banned, and what you can do in the future to avoid this. I’ll post again when I have more information.

Thanks a lot, would surely be helpful to figure out the exact reason for the banning, whether it be the Custom Challenges combined with the ONI Target Locator, or going over the cap, accidental or not.

THANK YOU.

I don’t want to seem harsh in my comments, but its irritating.

I understand your frustration. I can’t make any promises, but I’m hoping to get information about this over the weekend so you don’t have to wait until Monday to get clarification on the situation.

Be good to have an answer as a few of my friends have been cr banned and dont have computers to access waypoint forums. I can keep them informed

Thank you for the response and, at minimum, attempt to determine the reason for this as well as any possible way to resolve the complaints.

This to the maximum along with informing others if doing the ONI Custom Challenge exploit is still warrant for a two week ban or if it was only for those who did it before the turn-in button gave you the cR instantly.

Halo vacation time for two weeks! Well it could be worse I suppose a two week ban Isn’t that bad. It would nice to know what exactly banned us all, was it sword base or going over the credit cap? Anyone else know what they will be playing while away? I’m going to start with Zelda then move into Gothem City Impostors.

We are hoping to figure it out when bs angel gets a reply.

Thanks Moa, I guess we will just have to wait and see. Any chance this was just a glitch in the system and they didn’t mean to ban a few thousand people?
