Besides the obvious matchmaking needs faster connection times, there are 2 small things i believe are needed to make matchmaking alot better.
Show how many people are playing the current game type
If ur looking for a specific game type and u go searching for it in matchmaking u never know how many if any people are playing that game type.
Leave us in the lobby at the end of the match
When we finish a match we go back to the selection menu, if we were to stay in the same lobby unless u leave the lobby it can make ur next game a little quicker to find and u could stay with ur current team that u just played with.
who cares? Just play what you want to play. Doesn’t matter how many other people are playing.
no. Just no. You need to reenter matchmaking with your updated ranks. Plus it makes the game less stale because you don’t play with the same people over and over again.

They could maybe do the party up feature like 3 had.

I agree completely, Death NOOGA.
Cobra 087, when it comes to unranked games, it’s a no brainer. For ranked games, however, how many ranks do you plan on moving up within just a few matches? Refreshing between every match isn’t necessary. Also, many people like to play with the same crowd for a few matches, especially if you find a skillful, fun group of people. Trying to party up after games is too cumbersome.
It seems like making it optional as it was in Halo 3 is a win-win option for every scenario I can think of. Big surprise – a well-working, beloved feature was removed for no apparent reason by 343. Same old song and dance.

Are you f-ing kidding me?? If I want to play with certain teammates I found in a game then I should be able to party up with them. Halo 3 had it perfect and 4 wasn’t bad, this is limited how its setup.

The halo 3 party up feature made it so you had to press one button instead of three for partying up. If it makes people that much more happy to have it in, then they can go ahead. People should realize it doesn’t change anything. If you’re that concerned about playing with the same people, play custom games?
A thread that was recently on the front page was complaining about being paired up with the same people. Most people want to play against someone new and have ranks work properly. Why do you need to research after every match? Simple answer: boosting. It also diminishes the value of the ranking system.

Um, it kinda does, because it directly affects search times. The thing is 343 will never do this because it will show the truth: that no one is playing this -Yoinking!- disaster of a game anymore.
a. The current ranking system is completely meaningless and purely a number.
b. If you want the game to be less stale then you can gasp choose to back out yourself. Being forced to do things is usually not good. Options like this would be nice.

This! I don’t mind having to search after every game.
I can see staying in a lobby for unranked… but no way in ranked.

When the MCC first launched there was a postgame lobby after every game, similar to Halo 3. There were obviously issues with it so they took it out. Hopefully this update fixes it so they bring it back.

Then send them a game invite. It’s really not that difficult. Just go to your recent players or view gamercard from the post-game report and hit send game invite.

Once the population reaches a certain threshold (probably 1000), you get diminishing returns on search times with additional players. Just search the playlist you want to play and deal with it. If the few seconds you might save searching is the deciding factor on which playlist you play, you have bigger problems.
2a) I’m saying for when the game gets fixed and working ranks are implemented. This also applies for my seconds comment above. I’m well aware of the current ranking system state.
2b) As stated in my post above, you can gasp send them a game invite just like its been since halo 2. Once again, if you can’t do that, you have bigger problems.
People should be aware that it’s matchmaking, not “find a random game to throw me into for as long as I want” system
I understand the need for development and evolving gameplay and UI, but I don’t understand the deviation from Halo 3’s system as far as these things go. Removing these features just seems… Illogical.

if no one is playing that certain game type u will never know that and will be stuck in that lobby until u exit the search
there just ranks and u can’t go up insane amounts of ranks in one match and those ranks mean nothing i was level 1 when i first started searching and i found a level 35
some people like to play with the same people again and it speeds up search time.
