2-sided Invasion?

Just an idea I had for a game mode that could be in 4, or possibly Reach.

The map would be divided into 5 sections, instead of the usual 3. The first phase is in the middle section, 3. If the Spartans win, they go forward into the next section - in this case 4 - but if the Elites win, they push back into #2. Section 3 would be neutral, with both sides having an objective. For 4 and 5 the Elites are defending and for 2 and 1, the Spartans are defending. The game would end when one team pushed right across the map. Light vehicles/weapons would be in the central area and heavier ones further out.

It would also have beginning and ending cutscenes, you could skip them and spend longer at the loadout screen if you wanted. No more invisible bombing runs and magical vanishing phantoms.

Thoughts? Suggestions for improvement? Hope I explained it right.

I like this idea. A lot.

Wouldn’t this kidna work like Territories? but when you capture a territory/base you gain control of it and a team would win the round if they control all territories. 5 rounds.

but this would require really really good maps ofcourse.

also, this.

Yes please.

Sounds like a tug-of-war. I like it.

Good idea

This reminds me of a Battlefield game mode that I like. I’d be for it. It sounds pretty fun in Halo.

That’s a fantastic idea, I must say.

What you might consider doing too is playing your idea like One Bomb, and having teams swap from Spartans or Elites for the second round.

That way, the entire setup is fair, and with your idea, a hell of a lot more interesting and enjoyable.

Thanks

I was wondering if the teams should swap over, because while it’s a good idea in principle, my concern is that too many people quit out of Invasion as it is. With this game potentially taking far longer, the second round would almost always be 8 v 2 or something. It could be put in, but people would have to be able to join between rounds to keep the teams full.

Great idea.

This would actually be amazing.

Yeah, sounds good. This will probably get the same hate Sprint did, but ultimately the gametype won’t work without it. Now let’s hope somebody from 343 sees this

Sort of, except you’d have to fight over the territories in a specific order, and you’d each begin controlling two territories. Plus all the Invasion-y stuff like different phases having different map areas, loadouts and variable objectives. And it’d have cutscenes. But at heart, yeah, a really complex Territories.

Something I would also like to see is Elites or Spartans (or whatever new alien there be) versus that same species. For example, Jackals vs. Jackals (just an example). This creates a balanced gameplay experience and ensures that both sides are equal. Such balance would make any decided differences between species have less effect on overall gameplay.

This^ It’s brilliant, its like a tug of war sort of core concept.

From a gameplay view this makes sense… but I still like the idea of UNSC vs Covenant, especially if there were maps built specifically for the purpose. It gives the game a sort of storyline and meaning above regular meaningless MP. Maybe there could be both? Or the different species are made more balanced?

Would like to see this in the game. Is there any custom options that might allow this?

You could technically make it in Territories, but it would need tonnes of honour rules and even if everybody played properly, it still wouldn’t be half as good as what I had in mind. It would be the difference between playing CTF and trying to play CTF in Slayer using an imaginary flag, to use a metaphor.

What it needs is this i agree, but I wish someone would make a generator defence for a phase. That would be cool.
