2 Ideas for Halo Infinite Gameplay

Greetings from afar, I was watching a few videos last night on YouTube and I had 2 ideas that came to mind which would I believe be amazing to see in the actual game.

#1 is a quick command system where you can command any UNSC ground forces who are with you you to move to certain spots you designate, or for them to hold position. There’s a game on the computer that I was able to play for a while called “Mount & Blade Napoleonic Wars”. This game was fun for a number of reasons, one of the main ones was by hitting F1 you opened up a list of 5 categories of commands, by hitting F1 again you went into basic charge, retreat, hold position, fix bayonets, switch to muskets. This was an awesome feature and while it doesn’t have to be as detailed as this, overall it just took up around 6 inches in height and 4 in width in the top left screen, I still feel like a quick command system would be cool.

#2 Is being able to walk into the interior of a Pelican before actually using it. This is something I have wanted to see since playing Halo Combat Evolved on the PC, while I didn’t play it when it first came out, I still played it in around 2006. I remember I’d constantly restart a mission just to try and get in or get on a Pelican. The same goes for Halo Reach and really any and all Halo games that has a Pelican. On Sword Base I would sprint up a rock face and try and run and jump to the Pelican that frequently deployed marines to the outer base. Or the Pelican that lands on floor 2 of the base and picks marines up I would sprint and jump trying to get in it. As far as I can tell there’s no game that actually lets you walk yourself into the interior of a Pelican. If Pelicans are used to transport Chief anywhere, it would be cool to be able to walk in it and walk up to one of the seats and hit E to use it. I personally believe being able to get up and move around in a Pelican while it’s flying would be pretty sweet too, maybe be able to open and close the door to it as well. Another possibility with this is like in Halo 4 where you can actually fly a Pelican. Being able to walk in through the back and walk to the cockpit, maybe being able to open and close the door to the cockpit by hitting E to the control panel, and then walking up to it and hitting E to start piloting it. These ideas, while I’m not familiar with game development or construction in anyway, have been implemented in a lot of games, including Mass Effect Andromeda, Star Citizen, a few others that I’ve currently forgotten. It’s common enough for it to not be impossible, and they’re just 2 ideas I would love to see implemented. Of the 2 I feel like the quick commands would be easiest to implement, but the seeing the Pelican’s interior would be my favorite. If you go to Halo Reach there is the Easter egg that turns your Falcon into a Pelican, if you walk to the back and hit E you can sit in the interior of the Pelican, that is the most detailed that I’ve seen when it comes to Pelican interiors in the actual game so if need be you can take that and use it as a template in order to avoid having to create a whole new one from the ground up.

These are my 2 ideas that I feel would really be an improvement and leave people in awe of the game in a new way. I can guarantee that a lot of people have wanted to be able to command the marines or ODST’s that have been under our command following us but never doing what we say.

So long story short…

  • Quick command system to control troops en masse (a la Halo Wars) - Being able to go inside a Pelican (and maybe pilot it?)

I don’t think like Halo Wars as it’s a different type of game and you never get that many people with you. Halo Reach you got roughly 5-6 ODST’s who were with you being able to command them would be fun. Halo Wars you can control them but that’s because it’s the type of game that requires you to be able to in order to accomplish the objective. And second is yes, being able to walk around in the Pelican, not walk up to the outside hit E or whatever it is on the Xbox (been 2+ years since I played on the Xbox One) to get inside and never be able to see the interior. It’d be fun and other games like Star Citizen albeit a different game do go through a lot of effort to put details like that in the game. Mass Effect Andromeda did similar things, opening closing doors in the Tempest, etc.

Also for the Halo Reach mission I was talking about that particular mission where they were all you were given to take the objective. There’s plenty of other missions that include a decent amount of UNSC forces on it but never more than 12-30 I believe.
