2 Graphics profiles

Wouldn’t it be a interesting idea to have 2 graphic profiles for halo 5.

One Full HD while the other is a cut back version.

It would be interesting to use a downgraded version for split screen so FPS doesn’t drop like a bomb like in halo 4 and halo 2 anniversary. Yeah yeah graphics are cool and all but i would much rather have a smoother experience then the FPS dropping so low that its not even worth playing, Halo 2 Anniversary does it horribly. I think it would be a cool feature to add if they could add it.

what do you guys think?

I absolutely love your idea and dam well no that there is a way to get spilt screen using optimization. Will it happen? No

What i think will Happen?

I think that this thread will be moved to ‘official’ spilt screen thread. Ignored. And halo 5 will never get spilt screen because that’s just how ‘big and ambitious’ next Gen halo is. Oh and we have warzone…so who needs split screen.

I dont care if they cut back resolution or lighting effects for splitscreen, but FPS actually affects how people play. If they could get halo 5 to run splitscreen, but only look like halo CE doing it, then im fine with it as long as they still get 60 FPS. Actually, i wouldnt mind a little lower, like 45. But i played xbox 360 halo 4 the other day, and 30 FPS halo feels so wierd now.

I’ve weighed this as a thing for games early in development for PC. But for H5 / consoles it’s not really going to happen. Especially for a flagship product.

The amount of nonsensical bashing that occurs would only increase even further. “Look at how disgusting the graphics have to be just to make 2 player split screen” etc. etc.

like to me yeah graphics are good but when they impact the performance of the game so bad that its near unplayable, i would be a awesome idea to have a cut back version, Thats why i find PC games so much more playble even with the games you can mod for split screen you can tune the graphics for the perfect experience.

This should be a part of the already massive split screen thread, and not it’s own thread. It can’t happen, as they have already explained due to them making the engine to specifically run at 60fps. It wouldn’t be worth their time, or money to make a ‘downgraded’ version that would require either massive tweaks, or rebuilding the engine itself, to barely sell any to the people who are just going to share the game with others instead of buying their own.

TL;DR, not worth the money for 343i.

Thats the thing kids and people who are so ignorant will complain and it will give 343 a bad rep, but i would praise them if they did do it. But thats the thing its more bad then good for the company

It’d be cool, but hard. If they were to implement the feature it would probably be after DLC.

Its mainy due to how the xbox one and ps4 were designed and programmed. doing this in pc games is so simple compared to consoles. But the thing is they have already made it happen with halo 1 and 2. to have a setting in the menu somewhere for low res would be amazing for split screeners

They aren’t adding split screen, for the exact reasons you are asking for. To lower the graphics. That’s the whole point why they said no. It’s a next generation game, they want to maintain 60fps and 1080p for the purposes of this being the flagship game to move Halo to next generation console, and Xbox one. I understand your guy’s request, but it’s not going to happen. You complaining and trying to convince them, won’t happen. They have already explained why it can’t (won’t) happen, yet you continue to bicker about it. It’s not going to do anything but clog up the forums with more and more threads that should be in the already large thread about split screen. You are hurting yourself by continuing to post MORE threads rather just sticking it to the same thread that they would be more likely to read with more comments in.

But hey, do as you please.

More of an overall comment to the entirety of the ‘splitscreen’ people who are on the forums. It’s just a normal thing that happens when they find out it’s not allowed. You didn’t necessarily complain, but it was again to the overall people in the forums that talk about it.

Personally, I wouldn’t like it. Regardless of if it’s with someone else in the gametype or not. I love to play Mutliplayer, and almost constantly the people who have a guest ruin the game. Either it’s far too easy, because of how terrible they are, and are on the other team. OR, they are on my team and make it far more than just difficult to maintain a lead on the other team, leading to a loss. I normally don’t care about winning/losing, and focus on my k/d, but still. When there are no team mates to keep a couple of the other team on them, it allows them to double team, or even triple/quadruple, etc team ME.

True true, split screen has its ups and downs but hey my sister plays with me and shes absolutely horrible. we only ever play big team and we have a great time, games are been taken way to serious these days. and yeah i understand your point but you have causal and competitive gamers. the problem you face will not go away if split screen is taken out. My sister loves halo cause we can have fun and be silly

I guarantee that if they lowered the frame rate and added split screen in, there would be even more threads complaining about how bad split screen is to play.

Just like Halo 4’s split screen.

Not sure if you got the wording wrong or what i think you ment lowing the resolution, not frame rate

It lowered frame rate AND resolution.

Yeah pretty much. Either way people will complain. Its not worth releasing a sub quality product. 343i has to knock this one out of the park after Halo 4 and MCC. Its a tough decision to cut split screen but its better than having it drag the rest of it down because its bad quality.
