Unfortunately I got all the achievements in Halo 3 except for 2 for 1 way back when. I decided I want Halo 3 done but cannot get 2 for 1 at all. Sadly I have desperately sunk to boosting for it. Could be difficult, since the only playlist you can get this now is Lone Wolves and theres no party up option. You’re not guaranteed to be matched up with the people helping you to boost it.

Yeah, at this rate, you’re SOL. There are so few people playing this game it’s sad. And the Lone Wolves playlist is so reduced that the chances of you lucking out and tagging two players are nil to none. Hell, this cheevo was pretty damn near impossible to obtain legit back in H3’s heyday.
I got two for one outside of ranked playlists mltiple times. I had to boost it in lone wolfes though 
I got it legitimately a few months ago. I got lucky in Snowbound KotH by Splazering 2 people that just meleed each other. Splash damage destroyed them.
