2 Campaign Story Questions

  1. Wouldn’t it have been better if we fought the Covenant on Reqium, like we did some, while trying to find “something” or a “weapon” they were looking for, which they believed was their forerunner/god? And then at the very end we fail to stop the Covenant/Storm from getting to their weapon/forerunner/god, and we’re left with a cliffhanger ending with the Didact’s ship opening??

I feel like that would have made the story a million times better. There could have been an elite leader built up as the main villain, and that elite could have even been killed by the Chief at the end, which would give a good final climatic battle without bothering the overall story. It could have been that elite terrorist guy in Spartan Ops for example.

  1. Why couldn’t the Chief save Cortana? He could have just jogged over to a terminal and pulled her out before detonating the nuke, right? I don’t get why he didn’t do that.

For the first, seems more like a story-criticism. The Didact was meant to be the Campaign villain; Jul 'Mdama is the SpOps villain.

As for the second, the closest terminal got blown away a few minutes before. And when an ancient alien artifact capable of incinerating and imprisoning people in mechanical slavery is pointed at earth, I think top priority for anyone would be to blow the thing away.
