2/3 done. But still forced plugged-in-Kinect?

So Kinect is still required to play at your XBox? And you can only shut it down via some menu inside your XBox One?! And if you plug it off you cant play?!

Hm… thats bad.

I remember our three points:

  1. no always online
  2. no fees on used games
  3. no forced kinect

… or … well … I guess you already know what would happen. Again.

So:

  1. 1x online to download a patch to be always offline … well. Not ideal but well. Fix that asap too. So it can be a 100% offline console too.

  2. DLCs and Multiplayer fees - is O.K. - so now we are green here. Alright.

  3. Kinect needs still to be plugged in?! How bad. We are not against to sell it with each console as a bundle. Some ppl might use it this way. Why not.
But DO NOT FORCE IT TO BE PLUGGED IN. If there is no way to use the XBox One without Kinect plugged in. … it is a disqualifier!

So 2/3 alright. Better than it was.
I know we had that ally at 343 who said “only Idiots belive in the fact that the XBox One will be always online”.
Not a lie. You are maybe just a bit confused about the time factor
The result was clear - but the price was unknown … too bad.
Because there was and still is a big damage.

Online Force gone. Used-Game-Fees gone.

But still. As it is now … I fear … it still wont work.

If the Kinect 2.0 is still a forced to be a PLUGGED-IN.
Well … poor 343 … poor Microsoft.

I just hope you hear a bit better now, because you know what can happen. :frowning:
Yep. It was a very destrucitve time. And it is still not over. You just have a break now. Because you done well with kicking the online-force and the fees.
In all honest: I would be realy sad to see such a destructive time again. Especially after the XBox Ones release … only because of the Kinect-Plugged-In-Fact.

Now stop telling the ppl that your ideas were so great and it is their fault that these “great ideas” are gone. I know it hurts - but if you want to stay alive … … sigh.

Oh … and dont think ever on the idea to drive back in the -Yoink!- direction of that abyss. I mean force the 24h check for everyone = abyss. Easy as that. Even for you humans or not?!

And start to unplug Kinect. You can sell it as a combo with the XBox One. But kick the fact that it needs to be a required plug-in.
The menu can work with the controller aswell. And a normal startbutton will do the trick too … for ppl who needs that.
The others of the people (sure) can use the kinect … but only if they want.

You understand what I mean?
And what might happen if you dont?

German Minister: XBox One is a Trojan in the living-room (ger)
German Privacy Officer: XBox Brings Big Brother in the living room.
German party: XBox One - Attack on privacy

I can continue the list over the whole EU (I live now in Germany so dont wonder). Also Austraila has same news. And the XBox One isnt out yet. And I think you know that politics react slow.

And this is just the tip of the iceberg. But it is something that I can show you. There is much more. But these are feelings … intuitions. I just know that the Xbox One will fail if Kinect needs to be plugged in all the time.

The Kinect is now an integral part of the Xbox One. It is not an add on. You’ve got to plug in the HDMI cord to play, don’t you?

Printed matter 17/14116.
German government is chambering live ammonition now.

Sure the link is in German. But it is from the official side of the Bundestag (German government).
It is an:
Official request of the opposition to the government if they know what Microsoft is planing there with Kinect. And guess what … they didn’t knew it until now.
And they are already realy pissed because of P.R.I.S.M. and the equivalent attacks.

No prizes for guessing what will be the result in one or two years. Sure; including the whole EU of course.

C.E.S.S.I.S. is doing it’s job very well, too.

~

Also I talked a lot with tal´n´ si´li´lia´ as´#9 / Tinchen. Yep we were bored and talked about a lot of things; including XBone and its forced-Kinect … or the damages because of Microsoft’s crash with the “other ideas” for the XBone.

She is still realy annoyed because of the lost trust. I can understand that.

“Is there an ideal future?” - “…- but sure one without a forced-plugged-in Kinect-Cam.”

Yep.
The funny thing is: Kinect is not usable for third party studios [now*/here*]. Incompatible for PC.
Sure, because of all these security reasons. Dilemma!
Dunno who had this “great” idea. Or better ask “why”. =DDD [thx tini]
But in the end it will downgrade Kinect to a gimmick … again.
Add the to expensive price for a new XBone …

Past changes, present changes, future changes. Time is neutral. … and the guys at Microsoft?
Can they be so stupid to risk to sink everything in the abyss again? Do I need to mention that it was very close already? XBox One Eighty

Iam sure the poor guys (- sure with some exeptions -) of 343 can’t sleep very well because of Microsoft. Guess they have nightmares 'cuz of the XBone publicity.

And having an debatte over privacy in the governments can’t be a good publicity for the XBone … again. Only for something that is as good as history like the always-online and the used-game-fees?
And: debattes over it will be only the first thing.

Or say it like this … it is already done and we know the results.
The question is now: how much time and how much damage will it cost -.- … … … again.

Defend. Protect. Save.

why are people so worried about this? Do you actually think Microsoft is going to watch you play video games or when you’re sleeping or something? How would they ever have the man power to be able to watch everyone that buys an X1? They aren’t going to watch you, you’re just really paranoid. If you are worried then just unplug it when you aren’t using it.

With all these news regarding NSA spying program I wouldn’t be so sure.

Anyways, it’s not the problem for me. The problem is that MS is selling me a mandatory device that I’m never going to use. It just increases the price of xbox one. If it can be turned off, why do I need this crap in the first place?

People have no problem using their phones, which is prime real estate for listening in on phone calls, so the fact people are in an uproar over something you can just turn off in the settings is ridiculous.

> People have no problem using their phones, which is prime real estate for listening in on phone calls, so the fact people are in an uproar over something you can just turn off in the settings is ridiculous.

I love how people are still using the ‘turn off’ argument as if that’s going to calm most people down.

It’s still an unwanted piece of tech and it’s still a camera being pointed in your direction 24-7. The Government may as well stick a CCTV camera in my home and monitor my life.

Just because something sounds implausible doesn’t mean it can’t happen.

Microsoft needs to get this into their heads.

Not everyone wants that junk, not everyone likes those cheap gimmick games and not everyone wants a camera pointed at them. Switched on or off, it makes no difference. I have the Xbox One preordered right now but if they do not change this stupid Kinect system then they’ve lost me as a customer.

They need to take that gimmicky trash and shove it.

Agreed, I don’t even understand the point of having it plugged in at all times.

Selling it with the console is the right thing to do, without doing that all it will ever be used for is gimmicks and add-ons. If everyone has a Kinect, then developers can build their games with it in mind and use it for features that matter and effect the game.

I will agree that I don’t understand why Microsoft made it so it needs to be plugged in for the Xbox One to work. Just another thing they haven’t explained properly, that if they did, might ease people’s concerns.

I agree with you on the most part, but it raises the price, and to be honest I don’t like standing up or moving when I play video games, I just want to use a controller.

If they wanted to they could make your Spartan perform hand movements if you do them. Wave your hand or point at something and your Spartan would do the same. I don’t think that takes any real effort, you don’t need to get out of your comfy chairs to use the Kinect.

I don’t have a Kinetic as or right now with the 360 and yet I see NO PROBLEM AT ALL, that the X1 requires it. The only thing it does is allows developers to implement aspects with voice commands or visual cues to games.

Making it optional is dumb at this point. Don’t use the argument that it raises the price $100, gaming is a HOBBY GET OVER IT. You spend money on hobbies.

Also, you need to get your facts, it’s about 1/2 done because they said they’ll remove the required DRM, but DEVELOPERS WILL STILL HAVE THIS OPTION IF THEY WISH! There is nothing that says, a year after release and they get the majority of the consoles sold, that most developers change over to DRM.

I really had no problem with always having to be online. I have internet (obviously) so why shouldn’t I always be online while I’m playing. Used games however was a huge problem for me, I always get games used at gamestop and I buy lots of used games off the internet, so I’m really glad they fixed that. Now for the Kinect, although I wouldn’t mind it and I would use it, but that’s what driving the price up $100, that’s why people are still going for the ps4 over the one. If Microsoft gets rid of Kinect, they may stand a chance, but I feel like they probably won’t win the console war, they can come petty close

Bro, i hope you realize they can listen to you through your cell phone anytime they want and can look at you through their satellites in space for the past decade. How is this worse in anyway especially considering this you can always have off?

> It’s still an unwanted piece of tech and it’s still a camera being pointed in your direction 24-7. The Government may as well stick a CCTV camera in my home and monitor my life.

Here’s a very simple, inexpensive solution.

When you’re done playing the Xbox One, unplug everything from the wall.

Problem solved, 100%.

Turn on your console.
Put the Kinect into a corner.
Play.
When you’re done just unplug everything.

All they can monitor is the painting of your wall and the in-game chatting.

> why are people so worried about this? Do you actually think Microsoft is going to watch you play video games or when you’re sleeping or something? How would they ever have the man power to be able to watch everyone that buys an X1? They aren’t going to watch you, you’re just really paranoid. If you are worried then just unplug it when you aren’t using it.

Theoretically, they could set it up so that only a certain number of people could be in a room at one time.

Face detecting technology for example, or movement detecting. They could then charge you if there were too many people in the room while you’re watching a movie, or the movie would pause until that person leaves.

I’m not saying that’s what they’re doing now, but it’s certainly a possibility and one I’d be glad to avoid.

> People have no problem using their phones, which is prime real estate for listening in on phone calls, so the fact people are in an uproar over something you can just turn off in the settings is ridiculous.

You do understand the concept of “choice”, don’t you?

If people spent all this time being paranoid about a game console on something actually constructive to society, the world would be a much better place.

Instead, we’re afraid a game console is going to spy on us, WHEN WE CAN TURN IT OFF.

Oh, because Microsoft and the government really wants to watch a bunch of fat-a**'s playing kinectimals and sleeping on the couch with cheetos spread around, that makes so much sense. Guess what else has cameras always attached? Smart-phones. Laptops. Seriously, get real. They don’t want to watch you jerk off when nobody’s around, you’re safe. Calm down. Stop freaking out over what they COULD do. That doesn’t mean it’s going to happen.
