what do you guys think about a 1v1 playlist for H5. what would be the downsides? what would be the upsides?
i would play one regularly if there was one!
1v1 was tried only once before that I can recall, in Halo 3. It didn’t last long and with good reason. Every feature of the game which has any impact on outcome is amplified dramatically the smaller the player count gets, and this includes things which have nothing to do with skill… things like connection quality, monitor latency, and back in the day, wired vs. wireless controllers, and who gets host. It just boils the game down to unplayability. Someone always quits. Always. Maps already need modification for 2v2 and do not ever get it. They would need it even more for 1v1. It basically always comes down to a playground for call-outs. It brings out the worst in people. But if you really want it, then so be it.
It was in H3. Bungie took it out because they hated when people played their game competitively.
In H5 it would be awful though. Everyone would spend the entire game thrusting and sprinting away from each other.
Halo 5 needs to have a 1v1 playlist it is on dedicated servers now. and much more penalisation for quitters. I personally have experience the thrill of competitive 1v1s and proving your better than someone individually. It will also give players who don’t have the time to find A team to play with on a regular basis a chance to rank up without worrying about randoms messing up their rank. I can honestly say that I yearn for a Halo game that you do not need to rely on other players to dictate what rank you can achieve individually.
See I honestly see all the downsides in making a 1v1 playlist. The connectivity issues, the rage quitting, and even how much you’d have to edit the map. It would still be good because of the fact that most people have to look for teams or team up to win. Instead of relying on a few random people on your team to show up, you’d have to only rely on yourself. It could be a good way for people without teams to rank up and only count themselves for failing.
