1v1 Playlist for Halo 4: Your thoughts?

So I used to play a bunch of 1v1 customs in Halo 2 (I missed H3’s 1v1 playlist), and I really think it should make a comeback in H4. I want to hear what you guys think about it and whether you would like it to make a return as a playlist as well.

I know that if it does come back (which is probably not likely) I’d like it to have no icon over your head if you’re in the lead.

I don’t think we need a 1v1 playlist. There should be an option for a 1v1 challenge though. It would be like a message you send to someone and if they accept it brings you both into a custom game to duke it out 1 on 1. The game would also record your stats for them like Challenges Received, Challenges Accepted, Challenges Won, et cetera.

More like a “feel free to boost as much as you want” playlist.

Isn’t that every playlist that doesn’t have a max party size equal to or less than the team size?

> More like a “feel free to boost as much as you want” playlist.

I know how ppl boost, but how could you do it in a 1v1 playlist? I’m sure they could deal with ppl language boosting. In Halo 3, that doesn’t work after a certain number of games anyway. I’m sure it wouldn’t be a problem in H4.

I think that they should do a 1v1 playlist in halo 4 but if you win you shouldn’t get any xp/cr so that way you play it to get practice and not to boost(similar to ffa in SC2).

This. I like this idea. Sort of like a 1v1 playlist, but you’ll only be playing ppl who YOU want to challenge or who want to challenge you, instead of searching for a random opponent.

I like the idea of a ‘champion’ playlist

Many sports training (particularly tennis) use a game where you have several players in the sidelines and 2 playing (1v1) The winner of the point stays on court (plays the next 1v1 or stays on the map) while the loser leaves and is replaced by the next sideliner.

I imagine you could have a playlist compromising of 5-6 people, where the sideliners fly around as in theatre mode and are notified through their HUD when their turn to fight is coming up. Say first player to 8-10 wins.

Although I would certainly prefer an actual 1v1 playlist, I like this idea. It would be a pretty cool feature. Imagine after a close game where you just pulled off a win, and then a guy on the other team challenges you cause he’s mad. Challenge accepted haha.

This is also a great idea. If having an actual 1v1 playlist with ranking isn’t possible, it would be awesome to have this.

Another great idea. I really like this. However, I think it might be more suited for a new FFA gametype, not necessarily it’s own playlist.

Eh, it might work. I’d enjoy it more if it was probably ranked.

I want a 1v1 playlist in H3, Reach, and the new trilogy. I remember my first online game in Halo 2 was in the Head to Head playlist. Good times.

Yeah I didn’t get to play H3’s in time before they took it down, but playing H2 1v1’s were amazing! It gives players who don’t have friends online all the time a chance to prove themselves. It’s good fun and a great challenge.

I’m all for a 1v1 playlist.

Also, I forgot to mention that it should have no radar. You don’t need a radar for a 1v1. You should be aware enough to know where the other person is or could be.

True that.

1v1 should never return. Once one player got the lead, he would just camp somewhere until the timer ran out.

1v1 in Halo 3 wasn’t removed according to population size, it was removed due to popularity. When the calculations were done, 1v1 after a certain span of time, was the least played playlist there (and not because it was 2 players maximum. Bungie did the math and compared it to others in terms of percentage). Nobody really enjoyed it, and Bungie believed it wasted valuable data space, so it was cut. Besides, there was no perfect way to properly balance the obviously broken games where the leader had a waypoint above his head. That wouldn’t solve jack because they would either hide outside of the map (Blackout anyone?) or ran around the entire map, escaping your attempts to destroy him/her because they would ALWAYS know where you are, since you’re the only other player on the map.

I say 1v1 remain a Customs thing.

YES, why does Bungie remove everything thats awesome about their game? There were so many cool playlists and features in Halo 2 that should have been in later Halo games one of them being the 1v1 playlists(I know it was in H3 for awhile).
