It really just drives me crazy as well as confuses me that everyone yells that when insulted or when they get beat. In one week alone I’ve been challenged at least twenty times to a 1v1 and one wanted a 1v1 in griffball and another wanted a 1v1 in living dead. If you tell them no or that its not worth your time they proceed to insult and taunt you, if you say yes half of the time they alter the leadership traits, place custom power ups for themselves or place hidden power weapons. If you are going to do a 1v1 it should be on a open map like Asylum with no grenades or weapons on the map with DMR as primary and no secondary. The only problem with that is they will just hide and camp waiting for you to come by so they can double pummel you or assassinate you. Personally I believe that 1v1’s are a waste of time, most of the game types on Halo are team based other then Rumble pit so it doesn’t really show who is better by doing a 1v1 in levels meant for eight or more players.
I get annoyed by that too. Usually it happens when I call them out on cheating or exploiting.
Although, why DMR duels? I can easily beat most people in Plasma Pistol duels. In fact, that’s how real 1v1 should be done. A first to 10 match for each individuel weapon.
Plasma Pistols are a horrible idea. The most common noob tactic there is, is to overcharge plasma pistol then pummel.

Good thing I learned a long time ago how to achieve kills without needing a melee and can easily kill them by shooting before they can get close to me.
I wasn’t saying you would use a over charge I’m saying the weapon in general is noobish. The plasma pistol is the least used weapon in general because unless you’re a noob over charging it to bring down shields it will lose almost all the time against any other weapon. Its allot better to use a weapon like the DMR or the Magnum. With those weapons the only way you will get a quick kill is by head shots which shows skill, other wise they are useless.
No, the least used weapon in general is the Spiker (Golf Club if you don’t count it as a Gravity Hammer) and even then I’ve managed to get kills with it.
The only time I lose to other weapons is because they are headshot weapons, which are overpowered. Even then I can manage to still achieve kills against DMR users. Headshots do not automatically show skills. Due to bullet magnetism it’s very easy to achieve headshots, and since the PP needs to deplete health you can spam your gun until you get a randomised headshot.
I don’t find it “noobish” at all. Noobish is when the gun does all the work for you. How many times have you actually used the Plasma Pistol?

If you think headshot weapons are OP because they beat the plasma pistol, then you don’t understand this game at all. DMR does take skill (though, i agree it should take waaaaaay more skill like in H1/H2/H3).
I love people like that! I own them in the match and they think they can own me in a 1v1. Bunch of MORONS if you ask me! You got your -Yoink- handed to you! Go lick your wounds, and get off my nuts!!!
1v1’s don’t show skill, they show who can abuse Host Advantage the most.

I agree with you, the only people who scream 1v1 is the loser. I sent someone a message saying " good game " and his response was " you’re trash kid, 1v1 me ". I mean its not like he was on the losing team or the fact he went negative or even more so that I was the one who killed him the most, I’m sure a 1v1 would really help. Some people just can’t admit when they’ve lost.

you mean who is better at spawn killing.
> 1v1’s don’t show skill, they show who can abuse Host Advantage the most.
False.

Also false.

partially true.
it depends on the map chosen, if they agree on a good balanced map then it shows individual skill, if they choose a bad map which the majority of the time is what happens then it is just a spawn kill or camp fest showing no skill what so ever.

Sorry, but this is wrong. MLG Sanctuary is a good, balanced map. It also has spawn killing. When two players 1v1 each other, both players are aiming to 15-0 the other. Spawn trapping makes this easier for the player who has the skill to put the other guy in respawn. The static spawns make for more predictable and less random, frustrating gameplay.
Also, it doesn’t matter whether people think spawn killing is skillful or not. It’s necessary to win when you’re against someone good at Halo.

so spawning kill is a crutch?
i thought crutches where bad…
> so spawning kill is a crutch?
Nope. A crutch is something implemented to help bad players do better. In a 1v1, bad players won’t benefit from spawn traps because they’re going to be the one in the spawn trap.

a crutch is just something that makes things easier, who the crutch is for depends on what the crutch is.
a person who has broken his leg would have trouble walking, give him a crutch and now walking becomes a lot easier.
a person may have trouble killing someone, give him the ability to spawn kill then killing becomes a lot easier.
still a crutch.
> a person may have trouble killing someone, give him the ability to spawn kill then killing becomes a lot easier.
Sigh.
Let’s say I’m playing someone in a 1v1 on MLG Sanctuary. I go straight to his sniper spawn and out-DMR him. I then take his sniper and spawn kill him in his rocks. Do you mean to tell me that I got the spawn kill only because I had trouble getting that first kill?
Spawn killing isn’t for people who have trouble getting a kill, because those people who have trouble won’t be able to set up the trap. Spawn trapping is a maneuver that good players use to try and further their advantage.
Surely you understand now.

it’s still a crutch because it makes it easier for you to kill him without a challenge.
