1st Person Passenger Seat

Would it be a cool idea to re-add 1st person passenger seat feature from halo 1? or would it be more of a step back?

I’m not sure to be honest. I think it would would be less fun to some degree, but I think it might also be more affective when using a weapon in passenger seat. so pro’s and con’s realy but I think its fine the way it is

Have both and be able to switch between them.

Personally, I find 1st Person passenger perspective to be far better and much more fun.

I also hate how you worded that it could be a “step back”, just because it was a feature from an earlier game. The real step back was taking away a feature that worked instead of adding on.

First person was much better. It was usefull… and now it isnt…

1st person is more fun. It’ll also be more effective for most weapons.

Anyone care to explain why you shouldn’t be able to shoot your gun from your normal perspective?

The perspective was changed to third person because first person in passenger seats was disorienting to the point of being useless.

This x100000000000.

Look at all the little things we lost:

-fully automatic pistol
-riding on Scorpion treads on Co-op
-hold RB prompt to get Scorpion passengers off
-Armor ability icon hologram display
-Armor ability pick up messages
-Ghost secondary explosion
-Ghost weak spot
-getting back in the Banshee after exiting
-getting back in the Wraith/Scorpion after planting a grenade
-launching out of the Banshee when doing a back flip
-marine Hog gunners showing emotion
-Elites, Grunts, Jackals, Marines having an evasive maneuver when shot at
-Elites, Grunts, Jackals, Marines having a distinct panic animation when stuck with a grenade
-Elites, Grunts, Jackals, Marines trying to get a stuck projectile off of them
-berserking marines
-hunting Hunters
-ferocious Zealots
-massive blood loss that helped convey Flood in one mission
-dead Covies + dead marines that were more convincing than just dead marines
-Elites with alternate squid shaped helmet, Grunts with alternate curlback methane tanks
-Jackals with 2 slits in their shield
-Jackals doing different animations when shot in the gun arm, Grunts doing different animations when shot in the body
-weapons not deloading when picked up
-weapons not deloading if you had them in your sight
-enemy variety
-marine variety
-vehicle variety
-turning on/off skulls without restarting the mission
-finding skulls only on Legendary
-finding skulls
-in-game terminals
-versatile Covenant scenery items

I don’t see how having those would be a step back.

When you sit in the passenger seat, you are useless no matter if you have 1st person, or 3rd person view. xD

Unless you have a rocket launcher.

I’ve always liked third person better.

Because you’re driving at like 45MPH and it would be easier to just see the entire area around you instead of a landscape zooming past you?

I feel a first-person perspective would be hindered more by the driver’s actions, and I think that might also be why it was changed, but I can’t a first-person perspective being catastrophic.

Also, I love your post, Sliding Ghost. What you listed? Those are some of the many small details the Halo series has always had, and we’ve definitely lost a lot of the character, a lot of the… uniqueness Halo has always had. Or, had up until Reach.

Good points on both sides.

Driving fast/like a skilled driver (evading shots, grenades, rockets etc) would completely disorientate the player in the passenger seat.
However, that passenger would be able to do more at reasonable speeds and a straight path. Not to mention being able to drive-by beatdown enemies, which would be amazing.

I vote Yes, but only because I’m 50/50, however I quite like the idea of the beatdowns.

(Also, at speed, it could be an insta-kill beatdown, since it would be difficult to manage)

1st&3rd

To me, I never liked the first person view in the passenger seat except in team games where I can carry an objective. I would get disoriented if the driver moves too fast. We slow down enough, and we’d be open for a hell-storm of grenades.

The only plus side is that it looks cool to see what’s on the dashboard.

Other than that, I’d rather have the third person view.

THIS! You took the words out of my mouth!

Uhhh…

Well 1st person is pretty cool in Halo 1 except one thing.

Its impossible to aim. Literally impossible when the hog is bumping around everywhere.

I play Halo PC still and have played it a lot.

I think I have gotten one kill in the passenger seat? yeah. And don’t tell me that I suck because I get killing sprees almost every life in that game.

3rd person is easier to aim with

1st person looks better

Like someone else said we should have the option in the settings to change it.

I barely remember 1st person being in CE, so I can’t really comment on it. I always liked being comfortable with 3rd person aiming, but 1st person has the immersion factor and is harder to shoot. All in all, I voted for 1st person anyways to try something different.

I like things that feel good, and I’m sure I’ll get over the skill factor.

Iv made at least 3 posts on this subject and everytime most people agree this would be a great addition to Halo especially form a customs and campaign standpoint. Hopefully Halo 5 I guess.

Personally I would prefer everything to be in first-person including turrets and Armour Abilities. I would at least like an option to choose between the two so that everyone could get what they want.

Yes, it would make it more interesting. I really wish people wouldn’t consider anything a “step back”, that is whats wrong with the Halo franchise now, in other words “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
