- Details on ForgeHub’s $1,000 “Halo 3: Forge The Fight” contest can be found here. Here’s the main points:
The Halo 3: Forge the Fight contest is a map building contest in which we will be revisiting our original roots of forge, but this time with the added bonus of new objects and more advanced forge controls. (We can phase objects by default now!). Lets go over the basics of the contest.
- 4v4 Core Maps (Judges will be using BR starts for all gametypes) - Maps must be set up for at least one of the these core modes: Slayer, CTF, or KOTH - Maps can only be made using MCC Halo 3 forge - 3 map submission limit per contestant - No time restrictions on building. This means that if you have a map that you already started building or finished, you can work on it and submit it up until the end date.
Now that you’re all caught up, you should know that this contest started on August 19th, 2020 and ends on September 19, 2020. That means you’re finding out about it late. Fortunately for you, I have 3 useful tools for you to utilize to get you up and forging in no time (literally).
Before I show you what those 3 useful tools are, give this a quick read:
> “The items on the default canvases will count toward the hard object limitations of your overall piece budget. This is not conveyed in the UI and this happens even after they are deleted. They will act as a ‘reserve’ object. So the best practice is to reuse the existing pieces on the map toward your own. On Sandbox this will give you an additional 300+ pieces before hitting that object limit.”
Now that you’re all informed and cool, let me show you those useful tools!
- Foundry+ - Sandbox+ - **Avalanche+**What are those 3 things? They’re Foundry, Sandbox & Avalanche… but with every single item (weapons, vehicles, spawn points, objectives, objects, you name it bucko) organized for easy and efficient “grab-n-go” forging. It eliminates that awful first stage of forging a map in Halo 3 that I know all too well… Which is moving all of the stuff Bungie left for us to clean up just to get to the good stuff… FORGING! Oh, I also blocked the Guardian Towers on Sandbox so you don’t have to! They can be removed if preferred (I have a teleporter system to go around to each Guardian Tower so you can delete each blocker and the teleporters after).
You could completely leave my stash of organized items untouched and create a map, then sprinkle everything on after. You could make the map only using the default items (not sure why you would, but it’s an option), etc.
That’s enough reading.
Everyone loves pictures. Here’s a link to a Reddit thread I made with pictures of each map. I also made a quick little video showing Foundry specifically (organized slightly differently)
