I honestly feel like SR 152 was a little high, but good enough for you to say that you have got max rank. People realize that it is one hell of a grind. Now more than ever, I feel like people want to grind for 152, not for a crappy emblem, but for your reward in Halo Infinite. What are your thoughts on SR 152?
I think that it is a way to big of a grind. I think 343i have learned something from H5, so hopefully Infinite won’t be this grindy. But some might think that this is the right amount. Me personally would like to see some skill level aswell to reach max rank, more along the lines of H3´s ranking system. Now it´s just a xp grind and you can reach max rank by just playing WZFF wothout even touching regular PVP matchmaking.
I think the actual time spent playing is just fine, but the grind from 150 to 152 should have been spread out into more levels. If they wanted to keep 152, then they should have increased the requirements for every level from 100 to 152 to make it a more gradual curve.
As far as the amount of time needed to actually get to 152, I feel like it is fair to demand a LOT of gameplay to max out the ranks.
It’s way to high in my opinion. So many people have been grinding for years. They’ve even outlasted the population! lol.
In my opinion, the requirements for the final rank are reasonable as it’s reasonable to reach the final rank but it’s still a time sink like it should be in order to maintain the value of the final rank. One of the Halo games with the absolutely worst requirements for the final rank was Halo 4 due to the grind being too short while Halo 5 has a time investment requirement similar to the one seen in Halo Reach.
I like that it requires a lot of XP to get. Always means you have something to keep playing toward for a very long time. If you never reach it, that’s totally okay. The approach to 152 changed once 343i announced there would be a reward in Infinite. Now, it’s something people simply want to hit just to unlock another cosmetic, failing to realize the reward is meant purely to recognize players who like the game enough to play it for thousands of matches.

I agree with you that they should have spread out more levels and even agree with the amount of time needed to get max rank. However, the lack of content over the years and variety in gameplay is what made the grind feel… well… too grindy. Warzone + Warzone FF (the most xp paying playlists) did not have enough variety in gameplay, enemy types, and levels to give people reason to keep coming back. Arena did a much better job at switching up game playlists, but unfortunately the xp payout is laughable. I’d say the reason why 152 felt so insulting to players is because they asked so much time from us without giving us a content and variety-rich experience to justify that grind.
I think it would be more fair if the Legendary-XP-Boost Package would be a permanent shop in the Store, maybe even with a price reduction

I disagree. I’m an inheritor in Reach and 152 in H5, and the time sink for H5 is much higher. Reach had different avenues of XP accumulation such as challenges where as H5 it’s either WZ or nothing. It should be reduced IMO.
I mean I like a good grind, but this grind is like playing Borderlands 2 and trying to get the 94% Sham to drop long grind
You get the watchdog armour coating which is the only one I really which I saw :l
The question isn’t about the actual maximum level, it’s about the amount of total experience needed to reach the max level. Therefore, I would say it definitely is steep and challenging, but it would be nice if it was slightly lower. That or have other avenues to help you gain extra experience (I guess that’s where the boasts comes in eh?).
I think I’d be into a grind between max rank in halo 5, and max rank rank for mcc.
Like right in the middle
Its on the high side but why its rank 152 has been my question for years

I would guess that this number doesn’t have any hidden meaning unlike with many other numbers seen in Halo.

Exactly this. I don’t mind if there’s a sharp increase in the XP curve; however, the XP curve they went with of far too high.
It’s only a huge grind to those who have now started grinding for Infinite rewards. For those who stuck with it over the years it’s not been as bad. I got to 146 before I stopped playing years ago, so if I’d continued, my 152 grind would have been a lot less, maybe 150-152 instead or something.
The jump per level is ridiculous though, should have been more spread out or something but retain the total xp needed. It’s also.not.supposed to be easy, it’s to give you.something to work towards to be an incentive to play, not something that can be rushed through.
the grind is disgusting 343 went from one extreme to another with the relatively small amount of time need to hit max in H4 to the near what, 50 days of play time needed for 152.

Based on the data I have collected, you will reach SR152 after approximately 35 days of actively playing Mythic Warzone Firefight if a WZ XP Jackpot boost is used in every single game.
I would consider the effort required to reach SR152 in Halo 5 to be quite reasonable.
I think 152 is just right. The 1st 152s were in 2016 (i got mine in early 2018) Its the perfect ammount of xp for people who actively grind the game imo
