So, some of you may have seen the rewards for getting 152 in H5 from today’s post from 343. I gotta say I was expecting just an emblem or something, but it looks like we’re getting three rewards, two of which have been confirmed to be an armor coating and weapon skin! Personally I really like the way they look, it’s a fitting reward for a hard slog! I’ll post the link to some pictures below, tell me what you think!
I am seriously disappointed by all of this, as usual. Gave me yet another reason to NOT grind for 152, and I am glad I don’t have to grind for 152 because it’s worthless! Same with Achilles!

Well to be fair, 343 have been pretty clear from the get-go that the reward wasn’t gonna be worth it. They explicitly stated that you should grind for 152 because you want to get 152, not because you want a reward for it.

To be fair, based on Infinites release date of Fall 2021 you have plenty of time to get there by just playing, there is absolutely no reason it should be a grind at this point! With all of the double xp that’s been given out and all of the xp boost packs made available it should theoretically be a breeze. I got to 152 in the first 15 months, now that was a grind!
As for Achilles, for that one if you haven’t got it by now then chances are you probably won’t. I’d be looking for a hardcore dedicated full Company to grind that out with! That’s your only chance!
It’s more than what I was expecting to get.
Yeah I also think that we should be rewarded with more rewards than just an emblem for reaching SR 152. I like Halo Reach’s rewards better because of the awesome haunted helmet you got for getting the Inheritor rank.
I love the weapon skin coming with the SR152 coating (I’m a sucker for black and red), but it just makes me sad that I don’t have 5 to try and get SR152 on tbh. If 5 is never released for PC I might consider getting a used XBOne for it, maybe.
Lol, they better get a unique armor set. I may do the grind, but really just to show off I have been with the series, and for white and black, if they dont have a single other white and black shader.

Seems fitting, honestly. Looks pretty good. What did people expect, an armor set that just has the numbers “152” plastered all over it??

People obviously expected solid gold Mjolnir armor and apotheosis given the disappointment in this thread which is actually hilarious that they thought they were getting a significant reward for accomplishing an unimpressive milestone.
This community is as always incredibly entitled.
They didn’t have to give us anything for our devotion to the franchise. And all along, they said it would be a “token of appreciation”. Key word there being “token”… you knew going into this it wasn’t going to be anything magical. Not sure why anyone would that upset about it. You’d think 343 owed these people the moon or something for playing their game. I happen to think it looks pretty cool… is it worth 50 million xp? Probably not… but I’m going to play anyway… and COVID… it’s not like I have anything better to do. Don’t like it, you’re more than welcome to head to another game if you’re that upset about it. Personally, I think they’re free to do what they want, it’s their game and they didn’t have to do anything for us. If you’re not that big of a fan of it, that fine (and you’re entitled to that). There’s plenty of other games out there…

But to add more and be fair to you as well, I don’t like the armor coating system at all and cannot understand why it exists. It’s been explained to us a few times now and each time I just kinda walk away thinking “yeah, but why?” and then I remember the answer: money. So the SR 152 reward being an armor coating is discouraging to me. Back in the olden days of Halo (meaning any time before Infinite), I could pick whatever color I wanted for my armor… now I have to unlock, purchase, grind for, or win an armor coating to change my look. And let’s be completely transparent here: a weapon skin and an armor coating are the same thing, just applied to different stuff. I don’t much care for weapon skins either, but that’s another conversation.

That’s if you even intend to buy Infinite. I have every single Halo game, including Spartan Strike, Spartan Assault read and own some of the Halo books and have had every Xbox except the latest one and the Xbox one s cause I went and got Xbox one x.
These rewards suck and 343 needs to do more to get win me back, otherwise Infinite will be the first Halo game I won’t buy.

I already pre-ordered Infinite over a year ago, I know people are disappointed with the 152 rewards but they did say it was going to be a token of appreciation and that it wouldn’t be worth grinding for unless you wanted to. I sincerely hope Infinite is good, otherwise I’ll be thoroughly disappointed, especially since Halo means a heck of a lot to me as I’m sure it does to you and many others! My fingers are crossed!

Wait, the 152 reward is preventing you from buying the entire game? You’re THAT big of a Halo fan and some silly trinket for a grind for an arbitrarily set level in a game is preventing you from purchasing a game from a series you’re a huge fan of?
More than I thought it was going to be for sure. Not a fan of the coating system in the slightest as it encourages MTX filth, but it’s cool to see the reward is what 343i said it was going to be: something small and something that gives enough of a shout out to 152’s. Not worth it if you grind just for the reward, but worth it if you enjoy playing H5 at least a little bit.
Legitimately don’t understand the complaints here. They would be valid had 343i not tempered expectations pretty soon after making the announcement about the reward. Keep in mind a rank-based reward from one game to another has never been done before by 343i. This is new and I’m glad they aren’t going overboard. That said, it would be great to see them give similar rewards for other cool accomplishments like acquiring Achilles and Olive, for example.
That looks pretty sharp. I’ll rock it for sure. At least until I get distracted by another shiny coating and have to switch
