I don’t know if this thread will be flooded over by the others similar to it, but I want to express my nostalgia anyways.
Halo and Xbox are fifteen YEARS old? ZOMG!
lol
Okay, childish thoughts out of the way, I want to express my gratitude to Bungie and 343i for developing Halo. Bungie started this beautiful universe, 343 has continued it, but they have both brought stuff to the table. I’ve talked about this before, so I won’t spend a lot of time on it: I believe I began playing Halo with the PC release Gearbox Entertainment ported from Xbox in 2003. I still own that copy and I believe it still works. However I haven’t tried playing it in years. It was either 2003 or possibly the next year. Point being that I’ve played Halo for a while. I LOVE, LOVE, LOOOVE it. Its my childhood. I played Halo CE and Halo 2 during my middle school years at church, Halo 3 and Reach during my high school years, and the newer games all through college. I think its crazy, but amazing Halo has been around this long. Of course, you cannot compare it to series like Tomb Raider, one that turned 20 in October, but both have been around long enough to have influenced many, many games. Halo changed shooters, more on console, forever. So lets give thanks to our lords and saviors at Bungie for birthing this experience, and 343 for continuing it, whether or not you like them.
If it weren’t for Halo, Xbox wouldn’t be where it is. And I’ve played Xbox for around the same time I’ve played Halo.
So I ask: how long have you guys played Halo and Xbox?
Fun fact: my brother was born eight months before Halo CE launched.
HAPPY FIFTEENTH BIRTHDAY HALO AND XBOX! <3
PS: Does anyone know if 343 is archiving the stream tomorrow? I’m working during it. Once I am home I will want to watch it.
I had gotten into Halo a bit later than most, around H3 or Reach. Reach was the first game I played and loved it, it’s my favourite Halo. I don’t know if 343 will be archiving the stream, I hope they do as it’ll be 11 o’clock at night for me when it starts
I remember when I started playing Halo 1, I was about 7 years old. Every moment that I go back and play Halo 1 is like returning to when I was 7, trying to pass the levels, trying to kill an enemy faster than before, that feeling that was given to me by the game that market not only my childhood but my life.
As I grow up, I look forward to have my kids play this master piece and understand why I cried with every sad moment on the saga.
I remember playing Halo CE on an Xbox Kiosk and I couldn’t pry myself away from it. I was 10 at the time and was asking Santa for a Gamecube. I changed it and asked for an Xbox with Halo CE! It’s been an amazing 15 years
I didn’t get to play Halo till 3. My little brother had it and an xbox, I didn’t. I was 21 when Halo 3 came out. And so I had been living on my own for a while and didn’t have money for video games. Before that in high school my money went to my car, my brother didn’t get a car so he had more money to buy games. But I always knew he would, so I always just played with him.
So when I played Halo 3 had already been out for a bit. My parents were living in their RV, don’t ask crazy story, so my bro was living with me. So since it was just the two of us, we started playing games together a bit more. So we play Halo and we go through the campaign together. I sucked so bad. I remember my brother making fun of me for freaking out when I got over run by the flood. I was like, “WHAT DO I DO?” And being the awesome brother he is, he said, “Shoot them.” So helpful. So I never got into multiplayer though. And later I played a bit of Reach, not much. But I did beat Halo 4. I made friends with some gamers working in Electronics at Wal-Mart. And so I tried playing multiplayer with them but was so bad and embarrassed. I don’t like failing in general but I really hate when I’m not good at a game because I don’t want to be that stereotypical woman who sucks at video games.
So anyways Halo 5 comes out and at first I just let my husband, then boy friend, play alone with his friends so I don’t hold him back with my suckage and was still too scared for multiplayer. But finally he got it for me and got me to play with them. He helped me a lot. I still suck but not as bad. And we have had so much fun playing together, I love it.
Started playing Halo CE in 2001, sophomore in college and remember the amazing first time we realized multiplayer over the intranet. 15 years later I still play, still get dominated by 10 year olds, still love it. Hope to be playing still 15 years from now
It is really exciting and interesting to see how both Xbox and Halo are the same age. Halo really is Xbox in a way. You don’t see much of that in the gaming community (game series ages matching console ages).
