He’s probably exaggerating. However, I am experience some dips in frames on Xbox One. It’s not too bad, though.
I have some pretty horrible lag when playing split screen online multiplayer. Also split screen firefight. But if I play by myself online, there is almost no lag. Just the occasional FPS drop for a second or two, but nothing too crazy.
I think we’ve mentioned this in countless posts, but the backwards compatibility software does not run first person shooters very well yet & it might not ever. They have updated the backwards compatibility software at least three times so far & it’s gotten better each time. You have to understand that it takes a lot to emulate another console of completely different architecture in another console. What I mean is, just because the Xbox One is more powerful than the Xbox 360, that doesn’t mean it will emulate the Xbox 360 well. It’s not like the Xbox One has all the same parts/chips in it as an Xbox 360, you have to use software to emulate the Xbox 360, which takes more computational power usually than if you were running on the original hardware. You’re basically tricking your Xbox One into having a Xbox 360 inside of it. So yes, Halo:Reach is probably fluctuating between 15-25 frames per second instead of the 25-30 it originally ran on Xbox 360 itself. I put Halo:Reach in both my 360 & Xbox One & there is a pretty noticeable difference, especially if you go into Firefight & shoot your Fuel Rod into huge groups of enemies. Anybody who thought Reach was going to be “perfect” or “exactly the same” immediately probably hasn’t used a lot of emulator software in their lives. Hopefully Microsoft can optimize it a bit more because I’m going to hate to see what Black Ops 1 is like next year, a series known for hovering around 60 FPS.
Yeah, if you are a newcomer to the Halo series and want to experience Reach, you will have to buy an Xbox 360 to get a good experience. I picked up an Xbox 360E(4GB) from gamestop, for 59.99 LOL. I’m using my USB3.0 32GB drive to install and run Reach from. Runs well on my 360. On my Xbox One I get crackling audio and severe latency and really bad input lag and frame rates. It was making my eyes hurt and making me nauseous. It was almost like an added layer of motion blur was implemented. I almost felt like I was seeing doubling effect when snapping the control stick fast, but the nauseous effect was coming from the fact that when I moved the thumbstick, it was taking enough milliseconds to react, to where it threw my senses off. As I mentioned in previous threads, the effects at which people see or experience frame rate dips, is different. Some people are affected greatly, in that it may make them sick and give them a headache, others don’t really notice it. The same goes with input lag…

Let me get this straight, cause I think this is cool. You’re playing Reach on the XB1 from the Xbox USB stick?
Also, where can I see the FPS the game is using?

You cant. Reach ran at 30fps. The game is noticeably running at a lower, albeit constant, fps. No jittering or stuttering, but it looks like its running at maybe 20fps instead.
This is an absolute joke. This game runs like your playing some PC junk that has frame rate issues…
I want my money back!! I paid twice for this game and get trash!

He’s not, mine is doing the same thing.
I am experiencing visual and audio issues. Game itself slows at points even, and I keep hearing a static noise during whatever, Noble talking, me running, just standin around, whatever.
My Xbox One is plugged right in (not using wifi). And my internet is above average.
EDIT: I also have the disc version.

That’s strange, my reach has been at a stable 30 since the bc release. (Minus the first day)

It’s different for many
I also have been having a lot of problems with Reach. Frame rate, lag, weird audio, etc. Microsoft has released that they are aware of the problems, and have said that they are working towards fixing them. Hopefully Reach on the Xbox One gets an update soon!

ME TOO
And everyone should keep in mind that when playing bac-compat 360 games on the Xbox One, the Xbox One is actually emulating a 360 console. Point being, there is most likely gonna be bugs and issues that’ll need to be ironed out as they arise. I personally wouldn’t expect anything stellar from anything emulating something, because if it has to be emulated, that means it’s not designed to work on the platform doing the emulating.
