But I got the challenge for it. This occurred ast week in Team Doubles. I just wanted to know why I didnt get the commendation for it but it showed as a completed challenge. I already have 1 perfection and this shouldve been my second one. Not that important but kind of curious if its happened to anyone else. Or maybe Im missing something?
Also, this was a slayer match. I know perfections arent awarded in objective games and rightfully so.
You may look the game up in my stats if you like! It was on 6/8/13
What gametype was it? The commendation only counts Perfection in Slayer games. Other gametypes like Oddball, KOTH don’t count for some reason. If you were playing Slayer during this Perfection, then, yes you should have it. I NEVER had this problem since I NEVER get a perfection.
It’s no longer an actual medal from in-game. You can faintly hear it right before “Game Over” plays after finishing a game, but if you want to see your number of Perfections, you have to do it here on Waypoint. They took it out as an actual medal…

I know its not a medal, but shouldnt it still count towards my commendations?
OP, it is possible you experienced a black screen during the game. On occasion, this will reset you sprees and prevent you from getting perfections. Do you remember if this happened in the game?
Black screening and host migration will reset all streaks meaning if you have a perfection during a game and the host migrates or you go black screen for what ever reason then your streak would be reset and your perfection nullified.
Another source of confusion sometimes is that during a match destroying a vehicle counts as a kill, but I don’t think it counts as a kill toward a perfection.

Does a perfection require a streak though? I wouldn’t have assumed so. After all it doesn’t say, finish the game with atleast a running riot and no deaths.
> As already stated, whenever people post that they didn’t get a perfection its because of 1 of 2 things:

Your current spree (how many kills you’ve gotten without dying) is recorded by the host. If the host leaves (which results in a black screen while a new host is selected) then your current spree is lost and when the game resumes under the new host everyone’s current spree is reset to 0
This is nothing new, but if memory serves me correctly you used to be able to get a perfection after a host migration so I would assume that losing a perfection due to one could be limited to halo 4.
But to be honest I stopped paying attention to medals/commendations since halo 4 because there are so many and they are so easy to achieve that they’re pretty much worthless in my opinion

Still it surprises me that it would affect a perfection. Since I would have imagined the algorithm that checks if you have a perfection would just look at the scoreboard at the end of a game (as it would with a Win/Loss) rather than trying to keep track of the perfection throughout the match (as it does with a spree) - what would be the point?
I’m not claiming you’re wrong, but a quick google gave me no proof either way, although posts on this forum and others make it look more likely that whilst sprees are reset, perfection is not affected.

I have mastered the commendation, and some of mine were in objective… Only the old medal was restricted to Slayer.
Your current spree (how many kills you’ve gotten without dying) is recorded by the host. If the host leaves (which results in a black screen while a new host is selected) then your current spree is lost and when the game resumes under the new host everyone’s current spree is reset to 0

Black screening resetting the kill streak has affected my perfections numerous times in both Halo 3 and Halo Reach. And it has carried on to Halo 4 so my guess is its something in how the games are coded and server connection that can’t be removed.

It is your second perfection…and it was awarded on that day. It only says 1/2 because you are on the second tier of the commendation. You only have to complete one for the first tier. 1 + 1 = 2…see what I mean? Problem resolved…and I didn’t run out of duct tape. SCORE!!!
