14 playlists right now under 1000 pop.

And some of them are in the 200’s. Reduce the amount of playlists please. I can’t even have a good time in Anniversary playlists or Squad DLC because it’s me and all randoms vs full teams.

You posted this at 10PM my time (which is Mountain Standard or GMT -7) on a Sunday night. Of course the online population is low. Check back tomorrow afternoon genius.

I’m aware… I live on the East Coast so I’m well aware of the prime time for gaming. Even during the good hours of the day 4PM-9PM EST their still isn’t a huge difference in player population in those playlists. Playlists that can’t maintain constant decent numbers should really be looked at. This is Halo after all. It’s not something like say “Prey”. Their are just too many playlists and even in prime time it’s always randoms vs full teams in Squad DLC.

Simple solution: Play a more populated playlist, or play a different game. Sheesh.

> Simple solution: Play a more populated playlist, or play a different game. Sheesh.

Running away from the problem is definitely the solution.

Actually I’m going to agree with op, I really wish we would condense the playlists a bit, at least combine similar playlists to increase population so we can decrease wait times in lobby, I mean have you tried to get In a. Game of arena lately?

They could combine some of them into a pre-existing playlist as a game variant.

As long as you can find a math within a minute or two, then who cares?

Dude, most people in the USA are at school or work right now, calm down bro. Usually around 5pm there are about 100,000 people online. Halo Reach is an older game, competing with like 5 other popular FPS titles, don’t expect it to be overflowing with activity

Does anybody know how to read? I know the population isn’t that great. Thus my reasoning for slimming the playlists down… I’m not trying to sound like a jerk but honestly… I also posted this hours and hours ago. The forums have timestamps for a reason.

Calm down bro? I’m not mad I’m just suggesting that certain playlists really have no point in being alive. We can even use your example as an example… Halo is an older game competing with like 5 other popular FPSs… OK so why does it have more playlists than any of those other games. MW3 probably has double the population as Halo and less playlists. It’s just logic I’m not trying to sound like I’m a know it all.

As far as I can see, right now, 11:30AM in Seattle, the following playlists have less than 1000 players,

Anniv Classic
Anniv Squad
Anniv BTB
Anniv FFA
Anniv Firefight
Squad Slayer
The Arena
Rumble Pit
Team Snipers
Team Objective
Double Team
Multi-Team
Invasion
Squad DLC
Co-op Campaign
Score Attack
Firefight Doubles
Firefight Arcade
TU ZB Slayer
MLG
Action Sack

That is a total of twenty-one of Reach’s playlists, but if we actually recall back to those playlists, you will see why they just can’t simply be removed or combined.

Anniversary Classic - The only way to play Classic, Halo CE close gameplay in Reach, users who enjoy this won’t be able to play it if removed.

Anniversary Squad - A mix of Classic & TU settings on the new maps, this playlist gives users a taste of Halo: Reach’s gameplay with the TU gametypes and is most likely what 343 intended, to inspire users to buy the full version of Halo: Reach.

Anniversary BTB - The only way to play Classic, Halo CE/2 gameplay in a Big Team Battle way, users who enjoy this won’t be able to play what they liked if it was removed.

Anniversary FFA - This playlist is the only way to play core, Halo: Anniversary FFA, removing this is not an option.

Anniversary Firefight - The only way to play Installation 04 online with other users via Matchmaking for those with just Anniversary and not Reach, removing it is unfair on those who enjoy playing it.

Squad Slayer - The only thing in Reach close to a pure, social slayer where you can bring a full party of guests in to compete and have a blast, removing this stops users from playing Slayer team games with more than one guest.

The Arena - The only incentive of Ranked gameplay left in Halo: Reach, removing this, is NOT an option.

Rumble Pit - The only way to play Free for All with Vanilla Reach gametypes, once again, removing this is NOT an option.

Team Snipers - Team Snipers is a preferred playstyle of many, whether it be just for practising or they like those long-range fights, it was a playlist in Halo 2(?), Halo 3 and should continue in Reach for those who enjoy playing it.

Team Objective - The only way to play Reach Objective, removing this, is not an option.

Double Team - Double Team in Halo 2 and Halo 3 were a huge hit, ranked or not, this playlist has great potential for those practising on the 2v2 league for Gamebattles in Reach or those who have one guest and want to have a blast with just him.

Multi-Team - Currently the only way to get Rocket Hog Race and Objective & Slayer gamemodes with guests, Rocket Hog Race is needed for those who still need the Rocket kill in a matchmade race game.

Invasion - This was a HUGE hit when first announced, 6v6, Spartans vs Elites, this game mode, despite its population, always provides a challenge as the results are endless, there is also achievements linked to Invasion one called ‘Be My Wingman, Anytime’, another called, ‘Skunked!’.

Squad DLC - The only way to play PURE DLC of Noble, Defiant & Anniversary, this was removed in the past due to the population, with the implementation of Objective, this playlist will rise from the dead.

Co-op Campaign - The only way for users with not many friends to get a co-op game going to complete Campaign with help from others.

Score Attack - Achievements are linked to this playlist as well as the only way to experience solo Firefight in Matchmaking.

Firefight Doubles - This playlist was made permanent due to popular demand after Doubles Attack was added for Valentines Day I believe, it is still used widely to date for those who have one guest and want to get some sweet cR for their efforts.

Firefight Arcade - Without a doubt, this playlist, regardless of the population along with FF Doubles, is the FASTEST way to rank up in Halo: Reach, Anniv FF has near the same game modes as Arcade, showing it was used to make that playlist, you remove that and you remove the also, only four player Firefight playlist in Reach for default Reach users.

TU ZB Slayer - Currently being used in the ‘Beta’ category to test Halo: Reach Matchmaking, considering the TU Settings were tested with 85% bloom, this playlist is now testing how Zero Bloom would play out in certain scenarios, hence why it is still around and can’t be removed.

MLG - Self explanatory, MLG control this playlist, MLG is the main competitive playlist in Halo: Reach to date, surpassing The Arena by far, removing this removes the competitive players.

Action Sack - We all like to play Halo for a bit of fun, but there are some who play it JUST for fun, without a care in the world if they loose or win, as long as both teams have a good time, this is what Action Sack is about, having a bit of fun, removing this forces these players to play gametypes that they do not want to and get abused in-game from those in other playlists.

Combined with ALL of the above, these playlists still have people playing them, meaning they enjoy the playstyle they offer, unless the playlists literally have zero players and is like that for more than a week, you remove it, if you can still find a game within minutes of searching, do not touch it and leave it be for those to enjoy.

That’s probably the most I have ever typed in ONE post on Waypoint in a good few months, hope you have fun reading through it people

Nobody plays arena because it sucks.

It’s not about still being able to find matches… Certain playlists are unplayable for randoms because of full parties. Full parties choose to play playlists with low player counts like squad dlc because they know they are just going to be up against randoms. With a higher player count this could be avoided. I just wish the maps were free so I could acutally get DLC maps in the playlsits of choice. Apparently microsoft thinks achievements have more value than the actual content…

The DLC will never be free, a discounted price totally, heck there is usually a sale on Reach map packs every few months.

Squad DLC is bound to be updated in the future with Objective, its common sense.

AND TU SETTINGS pl0x :3 ?

Would certainly get me playing it, the only reason I avoid it is because it is 100% bloom.

Bleed through vs no bleed through bothers me more than 85% vs 100% as it completely changes CQC combat. Regardless though, yes if it had TU settings it’d be the primary playlist I’d play.

same.

Ive seen the “TU is cancer threads”, but the only reason I havent visited the DLC playlist is because it is PreTU.

What do the “TU is cancer” threads have to do with it? You just mean the people-are-complaining-about-it-spreading thing?

without TU this game isnt living up to its potential.

when it spread from squads to multi team and objective some people began saying “keep TU out of our reach”
when it spread to BTB, doubles, and arena (thank you 343) I saw TONS of these “Get TU out of here” threads.
if they put TU in everything except:
zombies
team slayer
swat
snipes
grifball
(this is what I would like to see happen)

Hell would rise on these forums.
