130...that's it huh?

So is 343 going to surprise us with new specializations or at least give us an announcement. I find it hard to believe that reaching the highest rank in the game only takes 60 plus hours of game time(maybe less with double xp), but its true.
Do we need to beg for more ranks or something because I don’t want to!

I am pretty sure they will add new ranks, but when will they be added? Next title update? (Jan 21)
I will still be playing the game regardless of ranks being raised or not because I love Halo :D.

Also having a Skill and Progressive rank system would be perfect! I am aware of CSR by the way, but that only shows up in waypoint

No. I don’t think we need to beg for more ranks. We just need to take our time ranking up and savor the moment when we finally reach SR 130.

It seems that many game developers these days release more and/or modify the ranking system sometime down the road after release. I wouldn’t be surprised to see this happen in Halo 4 as well

And if not… I’ll keep playing when I reach SR130 anyway because I have fun and enjoy playing regardless. I mean, people didn’t just stop playing Halo 2 or 3 when they hit level 50…

Ummm we need more ranks lol…This game will die slowly unless more ranks are added or the 1-50 system comes out. I hope for the second one because SR130 does not prove a thing

I find it hard to believe that there are new threads on this every hour.

But a ranking system 1-50 was fun, and it was not easy to hit 50 in every playlist…SR130 means jack everyone can get it.

I just hit SR50, personally, but I can already feel that the climb from here isn’t going to be that arduous or spectacular. I just don’t think a progression system where you can’t earn anything that fundamentally alters your playstyle is exciting. The progression system in Call of Duty has traditionally been exciting because of the diversity of the unlocks. Almost every unlock gave you a new way to play. In Halo 4, you get one new, hardly-considerable “perk” every ten ranks. Why should I care much about progressing within this system?

I’m not saying they should change their progression system to the likes of Call of Duty, with a gameplay-altering change every few levels. I’m saying this kind of progression system simply does not thrive in Halo. And that’s okay. It’s precisely why Halo: Reach used something similar, but did not rely on it for “ranks”. It had the Arena.

Halo is all about competing to have a better score, not about progressing to unlock a few new toys to tinker with. It’s always been about wanting to get your game at the top of the tab. Or, alternatively, it’s always been about just fooling around and having fun in Social playlists or in Customs. Neither of which thrive in Halo 4. An unlock-based progression system was just not the way to go. Especially one this shallow.

Yeah I like what you said man, I really enjoy this game so much. I been 130 for 2 weeks now and have been playing the same amount as usual, but its very strange to think that hitting the highest rank in the game only takes 60 hours and that they need to put new ranks in soon.

I am almost certain that they will add new ranks in, but the thing is how soon will they add them. Give it some time and there will be more and more thread coming up about this as more people become 130’s

I am still going to play to have lots of fun though

Oh yeah and I would love both a progressive system and Skill base system at the same time

Not much of the community cared about ranking on halo 2 either.
Just like I don’t care about ranking now.
What happened to those good old days where you played a game cause you liked it,not to be a high level player.

If they extend the ranks to SR180, you’ll just be complaining in another month about it being too short again haha

True story.

Ummm no, the community did not care about H2 ranks because they could not get past level 10 because it was to hard for half of them. Half the reason we need a 1-50 now. this game needs to be divided into Social/ranked just like Halo 3. The casuals get a piece of the cake, and the competitive get a piece of the cake. Both sides are happy.

We need both Progressive and Skill base ranking system (1-50).

> We need both Progressive and Skill base ranking system (1-50).

Agreed, but not 1-50. They need to find another system. Halo: Reach was onto something with the Arena. It prevented a lot of the problems that plagued Halo 3’s Ranked domain. All it needed was to engage more players.

No Arena was terrible. 1-50 is all we want. I would rather have boosters, because a 1-50 system would make a lot of people happy.

Fair enough

I also agree with this. A clear divide between Ranked and Social clearly worked well for Halo 3, and it’s clearly what most of us yearn for. Neither Bungie nor 343 Industries seems to give in to this desire of ours, however. It would be great if they did. However, I still think Ranked needs to be completely reworked. 1-50 was broken in Halo 3, and Arena in Reach was broken in a multitude of different ways.

> I find it hard to believe that there are new threads on this every hour.

Its amazing. People getting on here saying the game is dying if 1, 2 and 3 aren’t changed. I find it humorous.

It would also produce a lot of illegal activity through Xbox LIVE, and I think that’s what 343 Industries as a legal entity is a bit more concerned with. Plus, 1-50 was just unwieldy in so many ways. A hybrid of the 1-50 and the Arena would be ideal, but I would almost want them to scrap both and come up with something completely different altogether.

If they made rank like patched Halo 2 it would be amazing. Roughly 3-4 wins straight to level up, and a loss sets you back. You keep losing you derank. The challenge that was, but oh how amazing when you finally got past rank 40… hitting 50 in that game was so hard, but it will keep people playing and having fun

343 will release many more specializations.
Any moderately intelligent person could see that.
343 just released the 6 new specializations with a code, which allowed for 60 more ranks.
When its that easy, why don’t you think they’ll just do it again after the lump of the population hits about SR 130. I’m sure the ranks will eventually stop somewhere around 250, with 6 new specializations being released every 6 months.

Incase you can’t do basic math, thats one specializtion each month, which is about 300,000 xp I would say (level 1-10 takes about 300,000 xp, I havent actually added it up though).

300k xp, at about 3k xp per match (no double xp), would mean 100 matches.

Divide 100 into 30 days a month and thats about 3 games a day.
Now lets assume the average player only on the weekends and about twice during the work week. So lets add up Saturday + Sunday + 2 days out of each week.
4 x 4 = 16 days each month that the average player plays

divide 100 into 16 and you get about 6 or 7 games a day, which im sure they decided was the average amount of games played.

Im sure that 343 is assuming that the bulk of players will be advancing one specialization a month, some more, some less. This is their marketing plan, and im sure its a very realistic view of their actual plan.

So yes, they will be releasing more specializations in groups of six most likely, and they will probably be for sale for like 200 MSP or something. The next 60 will likely be released on January 21, when they do their next Title Update.

So does everyone think I’m nuts, or does all of this sound possible?
Think outside of the box.
Boom.
