I like this game quite a bit, but I have little patience for game designers who nickel and dime you for courses PARTICULARLY when there are 3 very well designed courses that are unplayable in MM!
Frame rate issues? That sounds like a problem that should have and could have been figured out before they released this game… 343 is still at fault. I don’t understand how this is a legitimate excuse and even acceptable to the Halo community as a reason for these maps not making it into MM.
Imagine maps being withheld in Black Ops 2. The community would be up in arms if the developer was trying to sell more maps before they had allowed the community to even try them!! (Note: I hate COD and do not play, but the point stays the same!)
They are empty? Have you walked around them? Add some weapon drops and they are perfectly playable as I stated earlier! OR… have the game developer add them.
They are used for Forge? Oh I’ve heard how people hated how Forge maps made it into Reach, but if that was that big of an issue, LET US CHOOSE BASIC (SLAYER, CTF ETC.) PLAYLISTS ON THE BASIS OF MAP PREFERENCE!!! Who cares if they are used on Forge, what the hell does that have to do with matchmaking and why should they be considered mutually exclusive domains!?
This game is solid, but the lack of good multiplayer courses and the presence of some really (and I mean REALLY marginal ones like Abandon, Solace, Vortex and Meltdown) suggest that 343 knows they can make a killing off selling map packs. I, like everyone else, will pay for them, but in light of the fact that 3 courses are absent from MM to begin with, I’m annoyed I feel like I have to in order to enjoy the game.
And yes, I do think that the lead Halo 4 map designer should have looked to the classics of the first 4 Halo games to start, instead of trying to force supposedly novel design features onto people (only to find that their crappy maps are consistently ignored in favor of classic designs like Valhalla, I mean Ragnarok). Vortex is a POS- this cannot be argued. Meltdown just isn’t fun… I can’t explain why. I refuse to play Solace and Abandon is too dark and not as fun as it could have been with a brighter setting. Halo 3 had such a wide variety of courses to fit every play style (e.g., the Pit, Guardian, High Ground, Standoff and Narrows (which Haven obviously rips off)).
This game is a disappointment to anyone looking for classic large maps, or symmetrical, well-designed small maps with the exceptions being Complex, Haven and Exile. PERIOD.
Argue with me, you only make yourself out to look more like a Halo fanboy (which we all were at age 13).
