13 Maps - 3 Forge = 10 Maps (WTF?)

10 Maps - all of the maps that worth voting for = Ragnahalla, Exile, Haven and
Complex!

What about Impact, Ravine and Erosion, three perfectly playable maps!?!

Oh, I forgot, 343 is releasing a map pack in two days for $10. NO WONDER they don’t want more variety added to this regrettable multiplayer experience- they’ll just nickel and dime you to get what you wanted from the game to begin with. This is -Yoink- 343 and you know it.

Given the millions of dollars this game has had poured into it by Microsoft, providing more than 4 memorable courses was an expectation of mine purchasing this game.

The lead map designer getting paid $80K a year to design these POS maps needs to be fired… I’m serious. Ten year olds could do better.

Insulting anyone won’t make things better.

Besides, the ones you mentioned are forge worlds, the maps that came in them are forge maps. They can barely be played split screen with 8 players on the map. The frame rate drops frequently. So as it is now they’re “unplayable”.

> three perfectly playable maps!?!

Sorry, smartass, they actually aren’t finished nor playable.

People who think complex is a good map makes me shiver :x

Once all the map packs come out… then they will use community forge made ones which will be much better.
DLC after 1 month is just…

I agree with OP, why haven’t those 3 maps appeared in matchmaking? And why couldn’t this Crimson map pack have been included on the disc? It’s obvious they created the maps before the release of the game. 343 has lost all my faith.

I like this game quite a bit, but I have little patience for game designers who nickel and dime you for courses PARTICULARLY when there are 3 very well designed courses that are unplayable in MM!

Frame rate issues? That sounds like a problem that should have and could have been figured out before they released this game… 343 is still at fault. I don’t understand how this is a legitimate excuse and even acceptable to the Halo community as a reason for these maps not making it into MM.

Imagine maps being withheld in Black Ops 2. The community would be up in arms if the developer was trying to sell more maps before they had allowed the community to even try them!! (Note: I hate COD and do not play, but the point stays the same!)

They are empty? Have you walked around them? Add some weapon drops and they are perfectly playable as I stated earlier! OR… have the game developer add them.

They are used for Forge? Oh I’ve heard how people hated how Forge maps made it into Reach, but if that was that big of an issue, LET US CHOOSE BASIC (SLAYER, CTF ETC.) PLAYLISTS ON THE BASIS OF MAP PREFERENCE!!! Who cares if they are used on Forge, what the hell does that have to do with matchmaking and why should they be considered mutually exclusive domains!?

This game is solid, but the lack of good multiplayer courses and the presence of some really (and I mean REALLY marginal ones like Abandon, Solace, Vortex and Meltdown) suggest that 343 knows they can make a killing off selling map packs. I, like everyone else, will pay for them, but in light of the fact that 3 courses are absent from MM to begin with, I’m annoyed I feel like I have to in order to enjoy the game.

And yes, I do think that the lead Halo 4 map designer should have looked to the classics of the first 4 Halo games to start, instead of trying to force supposedly novel design features onto people (only to find that their crappy maps are consistently ignored in favor of classic designs like Valhalla, I mean Ragnarok). Vortex is a POS- this cannot be argued. Meltdown just isn’t fun… I can’t explain why. I refuse to play Solace and Abandon is too dark and not as fun as it could have been with a brighter setting. Halo 3 had such a wide variety of courses to fit every play style (e.g., the Pit, Guardian, High Ground, Standoff and Narrows (which Haven obviously rips off)).

This game is a disappointment to anyone looking for classic large maps, or symmetrical, well-designed small maps with the exceptions being Complex, Haven and Exile. PERIOD.

Argue with me, you only make yourself out to look more like a Halo fanboy (which we all were at age 13).

I would not surprised if Halo 5 ships out with only 5 maps and the DLC Map Pack is released a week after the game launches.

Bungie (and Microsoft) have, since Halo 2, been charging for map packs as they are developed. I had and would have absolutely no problem with 343 doing the same.

It pisses me off, however, that 343 is offering DLC in the form of new maps, when this Halo is clearly suffering from a lack of course variety and 3 finished courses (they should be if they aren’t) are absent from MM!!!

You’d have to be an idiot to think that the Crimson map pack (and likely the other 2 as well) weren’t finished at launch.

Does anyone see how idiotic 343 Industries must consider the Halo community? Frame rate issues? These maps are only Forge? They’re empty?

Do you hear of other FPS developers providing these reasons as legitimate excuses for disallowing 23% of the maps from being used online? Only to then attempt to sell you the very thing you wanted to begin with (13 ADVERTISED MAPS!) in the form of DLC?

13-3=10, 10+3=13…

So I guess after buying Crimson I’ll get the 13 maps I was told would be playable in Halo 4. Cool…

Halo 4 is disappointing, but not because of its gameplay or graphics, but because there are simply not enough good maps in MM. 10 maps - (8-9/ 10) Complex, Haven, Exile, Valhalla, (7/ 10) Adrift, Longbow = 4 Maps that are not worth playing… (I’m serious, I have started quitting out of Solace games if they ever happen…)

HAS ANYONE SEEN THE ABOVE MENTIONED TOLERABLE MAPS BEAT OUT BY WHAT I CONSIDER THE BOTTOM 4 MAPS?

Once again, I’d love to hear someone “set me straight” here. The lack of quality maps is the most glaring issue in Halo 4. The fact I can’t play 3 maps in MM which are taking space on my HD is stupid, the fact they want to charge me for 3 more before I have access to 23% of the advertised amount of maps is beyond belief (especially as it isn’t based in anything but the business agenda of Microsoft)…

343 did so much right to -Yoink!- the experience like this. Money out of my pocket is not the issue, its the obviousness of Microsoft’s business agenda and related map release schedule, that piss me off beyond belief.

I agree the forge maps not being used is a huge kick in the nuts, spent more time showing it to us and hyping it up then they should have if they weren’t up for use, but the one remake map is my least favorite for this game ,

Vortex is awesome for me, either wraith or rockethog should be 1 per team

I prefer to play FFA but there’s a real lack of variety there. I don’t like how Complex is in the playlist. I mean fair dinkum it is a potential BTB map - why is it in FFA?

I’m baffled by the lack of small competitive maps. In my opinion there is only Haven and Adrift which fit this description. Relay would fit this description and would be a popular level (it was played extensively at MLG Dallas in early Nov) but for whatever reason it is not included in MM.

I don’t know whether this has some bearing on the lack of enjoyable maps, but I have noticed far fewer maps taking place inside structures. There is a large number of H4 maps with natural features (i.e. rocks and hills and stuff) rather than architectural maps. Most of the favourites from H3 were structures (The Pit, Construct and Guardian, mostly, just to name a few). Maps based on structures are inherently smaller, more symmetrical, easier to navigate and therefore more competitive and more enjoyable.

I hope lots of forge maps get added soon once the file sharing service gets up. That is my only thought why they have not added forge maps in yet since they want to use the communities forge maps.

We can only hope this is the reason.

So far, the lack of more maps in Matchmaking is the only bad thing about this great game.
I don’t understand why forge maps aren’t in regular rotation in Matchmaking. If those three forge environments aren’t playable/usable (for whatever reasons they could argue), why are they on disc?

I expect an official announcement, in a bulletin, telling us all why we don’t have forge maps on Matchmaking. And more importantly, WHEN.

I still have faith on 343i, don’t let me down and give us some official info about it.

Plus, we need a “None of the above” option when voting for a map…I don’t want to play ever again on Adrift (of course I can flee as long as I don’t vote at all, but I don’t want to spend more time finding another match).
